Re: White House Meeting With Industry Execs Focuses On Violence In Video Games

WiiHawk

"The conversation centered on whether violent video games, including games that graphically simulate killing, desensitize our community to violence."

The answer, as proven time and again by research, is no. You know what actually desensitizes our communities to violence? Watching people being gunned down in real life time and time and again and knowing that not a damn thing will ever get done about it.

Played and reviewed it on the Mac when it came out. Very creepy and good for some effective jump scares, but the complaints above are pretty accurate. View it as a quick, creepy, carnival ride down a whole lot of hallways—play it with the lights off and a few friends around you—and you'll have a good time.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Gets Massive Update

Fire Emblem Heroes is as perfect for quick mobile gaming as a Fire Emblem game could be. Still my favorite game for killing a few minutes when a few minutes need to be killed. Spent my morning at an oil change tearing through 80 orbs and merging the rejects until I got Mia.

@Mr_Video I suppose I understand that if you're not a fan of musou games. I am, so the characters included is incidental. Not sure how character selection would sway me if they were included in a genre I don't like—a Smash Bros. style brawler, for example. Having played it for a weekend, though, I can say Fire Emblem Warriors is a better game than Hyrule Warriors.

I would be much happier if the entire game featured only characters from Shadow Dragon and Radiant Dawn, but refusing to buy it simply because it doesn't feature your favorite character(s) seems weird to me. How does it change the gameplay? How does it make it less fun? Would you refuse to purchase a Madden game because it doesn't include your favorite legend player? A Smash Bros. game because it doesn't it pulled the wrong Final Fantasy character? I'm genuinely curious.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Warriors (Switch)

"...but in Fire Emblem Warriors things are given more depth by the fact that you can issue orders from the pause screen and instruct units to attack certain enemies, heal themselves or proceed to points on the map. It's also possible to switch between units at the push of a button, which gives a much grander feel to the conflict."

Just like Samurai Warriors Chronicles, then?

Re: Layers of Fear: Legacy Will Bring Horror to the Switch Soon

@joealejos @patbacknitro18 is right. If you know exactly what you're doing, you could complete it in around two hours. I took it slow and tried to take it all in, and finished it in around 6 hours. There are multiple endings, but they require you to start from the beginning so I didn't bother with that. Didn't think it would be as fun if you know where the scares are. Avoid walkthroughs and just explore without worrying about your ending and you'll likely get your money's worth. The developers really do use some clever tricks to keep you jumping.

Played this on the Mac. Excellent game with some fantastic jump scares and a solid sense of dread throughout, just understand going in that the game consists almost entirely of walking down hallways and opening doors/drawers. Definitely play it at night with the lights off...and preferably by yourself.

Re: First Impressions: Slicing Our Way Through Fire Emblem Warriors

Ike is a given on day one. Anything with an Amiibo, actually. After the initial run, they'll likely make many available via DLC, as well as costumes for the characters already in it. As long as people are buying DLC, more characters will come. What I'd really love to see is co-op play between the Switch and New 3DS versions, although I know that's unlikely.
