Don't forget Shin Megami Tensei. I'd like more news on that. And wouldn't we rather have an HD version of the original Xenoblade Chronicles than a Switch port of Xenoblade Chronicles X?
Why do game developers think we need backstories for everything? I'm in a tank, there's another tank shooting me. I will shoot it. That's all the story we need. And if I do get this game, I will never leave classic mode.
I'm looking forward to Shining Resonance Refrain, Ys VIII and maybe even Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory more than everything on this list. You all care, right?
"The conversation centered on whether violent video games, including games that graphically simulate killing, desensitize our community to violence."
The answer, as proven time and again by research, is no. You know what actually desensitizes our communities to violence? Watching people being gunned down in real life time and time and again and knowing that not a damn thing will ever get done about it.
Got this for free on 3DS back when MyNintendo actually provided rewards, and kind of enjoyed it. Not enough to finish it. I imagine the co-op will change that.
Played and reviewed it on the Mac when it came out. Very creepy and good for some effective jump scares, but the complaints above are pretty accurate. View it as a quick, creepy, carnival ride down a whole lot of hallways—play it with the lights off and a few friends around you—and you'll have a good time.
These games are FAR too repetitive to play through all three in a hurry. Got through 1 and about half of 2 on the Wii U before I lost interest, but I'll happily pick up 3 if there's nothing else going on around that time.
And here's why I'm happy to buy the DLC. Give the developers the money they need (and deserve) to help keep these titles coming...because I frankly just have little interest in the Mario stuff.
Having survived the era of FMV games with only a minor case of PTSD, I can say with certainty that today's youth have failed us if they're coming back.
Sure, the song's pretty, but if I run into these people in the game I will attack them on sight. They scare me more than any level 97 tyrant. I bet their rare drop will be something sucky, though...like a bowtie or one of those vests.
So may great games for mobile devices now. So many. Why anyone would rob himself of that enjoyment just to prove some weird, shortsighted point is beyond me.
I remember continually falling asleep on the living room floor while farming for rare drops in Xenoblade Chronicles. I hope the sidequests are easier to manage/achieve this time around.
Fire Emblem Heroes is as perfect for quick mobile gaming as a Fire Emblem game could be. Still my favorite game for killing a few minutes when a few minutes need to be killed. Spent my morning at an oil change tearing through 80 orbs and merging the rejects until I got Mia.
@Mr_Video I suppose I understand that if you're not a fan of musou games. I am, so the characters included is incidental. Not sure how character selection would sway me if they were included in a genre I don't like—a Smash Bros. style brawler, for example. Having played it for a weekend, though, I can say Fire Emblem Warriors is a better game than Hyrule Warriors.
I would be much happier if the entire game featured only characters from Shadow Dragon and Radiant Dawn, but refusing to buy it simply because it doesn't feature your favorite character(s) seems weird to me. How does it change the gameplay? How does it make it less fun? Would you refuse to purchase a Madden game because it doesn't include your favorite legend player? A Smash Bros. game because it doesn't it pulled the wrong Final Fantasy character? I'm genuinely curious.
"...but in Fire Emblem Warriors things are given more depth by the fact that you can issue orders from the pause screen and instruct units to attack certain enemies, heal themselves or proceed to points on the map. It's also possible to switch between units at the push of a button, which gives a much grander feel to the conflict."
@joealejos @patbacknitro18 is right. If you know exactly what you're doing, you could complete it in around two hours. I took it slow and tried to take it all in, and finished it in around 6 hours. There are multiple endings, but they require you to start from the beginning so I didn't bother with that. Didn't think it would be as fun if you know where the scares are. Avoid walkthroughs and just explore without worrying about your ending and you'll likely get your money's worth. The developers really do use some clever tricks to keep you jumping.
Played this on the Mac. Excellent game with some fantastic jump scares and a solid sense of dread throughout, just understand going in that the game consists almost entirely of walking down hallways and opening doors/drawers. Definitely play it at night with the lights off...and preferably by yourself.
@Frank90 Exactly. We all have our time-killers on our mobile devices. My wife checks Facebook, my daughter has Snapchat. My son has YouTube Kids. I have FE Heroes. It's pretty much perfect for what it set out to do.
This really makes me wish Tharja and Camilla had won the choose your hero campaign so Nintendo would've had to navigate around the fanservice to make this commercial.
Pick and choose, I guess. Of the three, Spirit of Sanada looks the most intriguing...despite the little kids. Only thing more annoying than little kids in video games are Sonic characters.
Still think the best way to play these games is on iOS streamed to Apple TV so the family can work together to solve the cases and read the parts. It's a blast when you've got the right group together.
Can't get it to work on a supervised account, either. I can connect to my account, but when my son tries to connect the app to his account I supervise, he's told he needs to connect that account to a Switch. Which, of course, he's already done. Too many steps here between what we want and how we do it, which makes troubleshooting a pain.
Ike is a given on day one. Anything with an Amiibo, actually. After the initial run, they'll likely make many available via DLC, as well as costumes for the characters already in it. As long as people are buying DLC, more characters will come. What I'd really love to see is co-op play between the Switch and New 3DS versions, although I know that's unlikely.

Re: Fortnite Player Takes All-Time Kill Record By Savagely Taking Out Rocket Launch Viewers
I don't play this game, but I watch my son play. If he'd pulled this stunt I would've thought it's the funniest thing he's ever done.
Re: Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition Confirmed For Nintendo Switch
Again, I find myself torn between my love of JRPGs and my lack of interest in 12-year-olds and talking animals.

Re: Feature: The Making Of Night Trap, The World's Most Famous Video Game Nasty
As bad as this game was, it was nowhere nearly as awful as Sierra's "Phantasmagoria."

Re: Feature: Which Retro Classics Do You Want To See Come To Sega AGES On Switch?
My request list is meager:
Dreamcast - Space Channel 5.
Genesis - Sunset Riders (although I'd greatly prefer Konami's arcade version).
That's pretty much it.
Re: Review: Arcade Archives Moon Patrol (Switch eShop)
This is one of the games I used to play when the Donkey Kong line was too long. I'd get this, but the Donkey Kong line isn't that long anymore.

Re: Atari Flashback Classics Is Due To Launch On The Switch Later This Year
Atari 2600 games got boring after 10 minutes back in 1981. I imagine that's down to about 45 seconds now, so no thanks.
Intellivision FTW. "Once you compare, you'll know."

@Senpai_Bruh People react the same way during football games, and no one is blaming sports for youth violence.
Re: Capcom Classic Okami HD Stalks Its Way To Switch This Summer
Never finished it on the Wii...motion controls were too finicky. I'll definitely give it another go.
Re: '90s Classic Another World Makes The Leap To Switch This Spring
Echoing those above, I think Flashback was the better game. I'd buy that for Switch in an instant.

Burger Time. Burger Time all night (although I'd prefer to see the Intellivision release, which was actually better than the arcade version).
Re: Fire Emblem Heroes Gets Into the Festive Spirit With Daft Outfits
Too many other characters I still need to waste my orbs on Christmas costumes. Would've rather gotten Rhajat last week than any of these.

Sucks that I'll have to play it in 100% portable mode to make sure my kids don't accidentally see a few specific demons.

If you're having time frame issues on a remaster of a 25-year-old game, then what you're really having are lazy developer issues.
Re: Murder Mystery Title The Sexy Brutale Is Coming To Switch
I don't recommend Googling "The Sexy Brutale" then looking at the resulting images.
Re: Review: Hey! Pikmin (3DS)
I would play this if it were a $14.99 title for the iPad. On the 3DS, there are just many better options out there.

Except me. Because they're about 12 years old. And that would be weird.

I'd buy it one day one...but only if I can control The Mountie and/or Conquistador #2.
Re: 505 Games Unleashes New Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night E3 2017 Trailer
The lighting makes it look an '80s sitcom or daytime soap shot on tape instead of film.
Now that I think about, maybe that's kind of cool.
