@Dr_Corndog Bayonetta 2 actually didn't do too badly, it sold over 1 million. That's pretty good, all things considered. That successful introduction to the series on Wii U should help ensure Bayonetta 3 will be a huge hit.

Never played a Bayonetta game before, so this didn't really excite me much. Nice for the fans of the series though. Might have to give the series a try now that it's portable.

First Mega Man 11 then Bayonetta 3?

@BinaryFragger In my opinion there is a huge difference between the cases you listed and Bayonetta.
Could they come to Nintendo/other consoles? In your listet cases, yes. They could, at least in theorie be made for a Nintendo console as well, this is up to the publisher.
In Bayonettas case, the game only even exist because Nintendo is paying the development fee, there is even far less of a point in getting angry about this.

Also I remember the Bayonetta 2 case having way more and way more angry people involved than some Nintendo whiners...

@-DG Bayo 3 hasn't been announced for 2018. Not yet anyway.

How can Nintendo follow up 2017 they ask? Well, I can only speak for myself but a Bayonetta 1 and 2 Collection, Bayonetta 3 and a new No More Heroes game is a pretty damn good start. Right now, Switch has the most games I want to play in 2018.

Never got into this series. Have 1 & 2 on the Wii U but barely played them. I'll try and get into them again over Xmas, although I see the Zelda DLC has finally been released, so that will probably trump that idea. Seems to be a fan favourite though, so more good news for the Switch.

Great news! If the teaser is any indication she has her old hair back. I liked her shorter hair, a well (normally I hate short hair).

I do hope they make the unlocks cheaper though. Because that's something I noticed in Bayo 1, 2 and Wonderful 101: You need so much money to unlock everything that you either have to get very good at hard difficulty, or play the game forever and ever on easy!

@Kirgo Ehh.. When people suggested Sony funded part of MHW, people complained about Somy "moneyhatting" the franchise (even though it's clearly multiplat). And yeah, if it wasn't for Nintendo, this franchisr wouldn't exist. But if Microsoft funded Bayo 2, people would complain it's on a console nobody cares about, and if Sony funded it, people would complain that Sony buys exclusive rights to all franchises. You can't win with exclusives. And it sucks. It's not up to the gamers which console gets which exclusives and in a perfect world you get to play all third party games. So I understand why people are disappointed whenever an exclusive is announced.

At least the only positive thing is that exclusive games are often one of the best games because of their seemingly infinite budgets.

I think this what tue should have done with Xenoblade. First release the wii u port and then release the game somwhere in 2018 so they have enough time to optimize it.

Great news to wake up to! The Switch currently is the system where I've already more than doubled my initial first year game purchases for any other video game console... and the year isn't even done yet. 2018 will likely make it so that I have more Switch games than NES, SNES and Game Boy combined, I was a kid at that time and games were limited to what my parents would get me. I have many more games for the N64, Gamecube, Wii and Wii U, but still the switch may very well have me buy more games lifetime than a few of those other consoles combined too!

I don't know why everyone is excited about this being an exclusive. Exclusives are only good for companies, and bad for the players. Somehow you guys are all angry about games not coming to the switch, but like it when games do not come to other platforms... I am not into bayonetta, and am a Nintendo only player, but this joy of exclusives is a bit weird in my opinion...

Seriously - Bayonetta, Splatoon and Smash were the main reasons I kept going back to my Wii U. If you're telling me, that I will now have not only Splatoon 2 AND Bayonetta 1-3 on my Switch, you probably never going to see me ever again. I will NOT leave my house! Well... Switch can be taken anywhere. So I guess I would leave my house... I'd just be a shell of my former self.

Man, still haven't played Bayonetta 2... It's been sitting there for months.

These games are FAR too repetitive to play through all three in a hurry. Got through 1 and about half of 2 on the Wii U before I lost interest, but I'll happily pick up 3 if there's nothing else going on around that time.

Sounds like it's a long way off in development, but this is incredibly shocking news to have a Bayo 3 in the works, and Switch exclusive to boot! Fantastic news.....now.....who's willing to sacrifice their joycons to the rigors of these games?

Bayonetta 2 is one of the best games on the Wii U, and thus one of the best games of last generation (even though... technically, Wii U was 8th generation which we're still in, unless you count Switch/PS4 Pro/X1X as 9th generation... more like 8.5? Idk I'm getting off topic).

Getting both the first and second games on Switch, fully portable.... that's incredible. Getting a brand new, exclusive 3rd entry? The infamous Bayonetta 3 we've all speculated about? Nintendo is taking no prisoners.

@BinaryFragger Somehow you have a very confused understanding of what's an exclusive and what is not. Here, let me help: Secret of Mana is a SNES game that was also part of the SNES mini collection, and is also available on IOS and Android. Literally no reason for it to be an exclusive, it never was and there is not reason it should be. MH World: not an exclusive, it's also coming to XBOX and PC. You must have gotten confused with all the butthurt comments when MH was coming exclusively to Nintendo consoles the past 5 or 6 years. Cuphead is a different story. It was funded partially by Microsoft and thus will remain exclusive for the foreseeable future, possibly forever. But I don't recall anyone moaning about that.

Edit: Forgot to mention, Secret of Mana is already available on Switch as part of the Seiken Densetsu Collection in Japan, there's literally no reason they cannot be localized.

@8itmap_k1d Generally, exclusive games are better than multiplatform games. I believe that is partly because the developers don't have to worry about other platforms and can focus on a single platform. It's good for consumers in that aspect.

I went home yesterday and was just randomly firing my Switch up to get started with downloading the Lost Sphear demo and adding games to my wish list when I saw this news article. Needless to say, I think this is one of the biggest surprise announcements for the Switch I've been hit with. This is really and truly a good time to be a Nintendo gamer.

@Slim1999 Bayonetta 3 is definitely good news but the game I'm more interested in is Metroid Prime 4. I think that 1 and 2 were great, 3 was more polished but I didn't like it as much. Whoever is making Metroid Prime 4, people working at Nintendo still know how to supervise it. I always say that Nintendo needs Metroid Prime because it's a different genre and style than their usual stuff.

Never got to play Bayonetta 2 since I didn't have any interest in a Wii U, but will be picking up the B2 port on Feb 16th and will be getting B3 at launch. I'm so glad I'm getting a Switch for Xmas now. Think I'll blow the dust off my PS3 copy when I'm off this week to replay the first one.

I think though - How can Platinum Games ever release Bayonetta games on anything else? 2 and 3 are Nintendo exclusive, and I can't see that changing because they basically paid for them to be made. I think they should work something out to make it a Nintendo IP. Ninty 'needs more mature games', so why not secure Bayonetta?!

As for your Okami comment, you're wrong again. Okami was a Wii game (ported from the PS2) and its sequel is still a Nintendo exclusive to this day. Try harder next time, I think Switch owners got plenty to play without port begging.

@Bondi_Surfer This might help you get the idea: if you like games such as Darksiders and Devil May Cry, then chances are that the Bayonetta games will also be an enjoyable experience for you, since they are quite similar in the way they play, even though each of them obviously has it's own specific look.

I think the difference is that the other games are multiplats and people see no reason a multiplat should single out Switch to skip it. Monster Hunter World is a multiplat. MegaMan Legacy Collection is a multiplat. Disney Afternoon Collection is a multiplat. Wolfenstein 2 is a multiplat. It makes perfect sense that people would want multiplats to come to Switch.

Whereas Bayonetta 3 is an exclusive. You might hear a passing comment once in a while like "it would be great if Persona 5 came to Switch" but you never see people angry or upset about it or whining about it. Because people understand it's an exclusive. When it's a multiplat it's an entirely different story. And people don't complain about all multiplats either, but certain ones that seem to be an obvious fit (like MH World since there's already a fanbase on the platform, or MegaMan/Disney since the retro enthusiast base is strong on Nintendo, etc).

I don't deny that some PS4 and PC owners want Bayonetta 2 and 3. I'm not one of them though. Why? Because I own the systems that have the games that I want. I have Bayonetta 2 on WiiU. When Bayonetta 3 and Metroid prime 4 come out on Switch I'll buy a Switch then. I also keep up on games being released on switch so I don't forget about them when my purchase is made. I enjoy games not corporations. So any salty tears don't come from me so by all means drink up. There's oceans of salty tears from Nintendo fans though.

It was a non stop joy rode,of thrills from start to finish. I own the version has both discs for games, and I'll probably buy it for switch too. Definitely getting 3rd one, but Xenoblade 2 is my main concern right now! God that game is beautiful

Bayonetta 3's announcement is the best news I have heard all year.

I think this will increase the chances of having Bayonetta in Smash for Switch!

Happy for those into this series but I never really got into Bayo1 on 360 so will probably pass...

Man, I should give this series a try at some point and I really have no excuse given I have the Xbox 360 version for free that I can play on my Xbox One.

I love Ninja Gaiden and God of War, how does this series compare to those two.

Not a fan of the series. I really wish Platinum was working on a different series since they are such a talented studio. I'm happy for all those who really wanted this but personally I am really disappointed that we won't be getting a game from another series and instead we get this stupid witch with more of her fancy dance moves and guns. Just my opinion of course, I know this game will be solid and worth the money.

Did anyone else catch that it looks like Bayonetta gets split in half at the end of the trailer? Maybe you’re not playing as her this time around?

@BenAV Seems to be lot of divide between liking X on WiiU and this new one. I have been drawn into this one by the story whereas last one didn't really grab me.
