The story (and its pacing) are by far the worst in the series. But if the gameplay improvements mentioned here are valid, it sounds like they could compensate.
Nintendo does not need this event, clearly, and it's a good indication of why events like E3 were so important. Indie companies could get their smaller space at much lower prices, and still take advantage of the foot traffic brought in by the big companies.
That said, I wonder what Nintendo charges for games to be featured in their Indie Directs.
I always get confused. Which one is Geoff Keighley and which one is Tommy Tallarico? Same basic guy, but the gaming press loves one and hates the other, right?
Whatever they do with the IPs, they've got to do it with an Intellivision keypad. The majority of Intellivision games are unplayable with modern controllers, as we've seen from every console collection released in the past.
Don't forget his contributions to the "Redneck Rampage" soundtrack back in '97. I'd post a link, but I have a feeling that people who know him solely from the "Super Mario Bros." movie have no idea what they're getting themselves into.
@fenlix For media events, that's true. But having been to a half dozen E3s as media, I can say that third-party developers really knew how to take advantage of traffic the big three brought in to push their own titles. Not sure of the validity of that anymore, but if the focus is still to generate buzz about upcoming games, E3 can do that for the companies that don't have the advantage of getting millions to tune in to their equivalent of the Nintendo Direct.
This was a forgone conclusion. What I want to see is which third-party developers attend. Get enough of those and the show could still be interesting. So many of them are supporting the Switch right now, after all.
I'm still looking forward to the game, but my God; this video just turned Fire Emblem into a "What to do while staying at the Marriott" promo. Fire Emblem has never sounded so lame...and they completely forgot to cover the free continental breakfast.
This game was barely interesting on the iPhone. I'd play it for fifteen minutes and think, "Hey, this kind of fun," then not think about for two weeks. The Switch announcement made me consider going back to it, but I wasn't disappointed to discover it had been removed from Apple Arcade. I'll be fine continuing to not think about it.
There's a unique monster in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that my son and I started calling Constipated Dylan. I can't remember the actual name at this point, so now I feel guilty for being disrespectful.
"These warriors are fully committed to their roles in life, unwavering in the belief that they are born from Aionios' Queen and destined to serve her by fighting constantly..."
So, this game's premise is based on the lives of bees?
On the bright side, the bonuses aren't worth the money, the hassle, or the delay you'll have in receiving the game. This particular kit was created specifically for scalpers, not for fans.
Not sure how I feel about gem crafting. I often forgot about it in XC, and suddenly found myself overwhelmed with the amount of gems I had to clear out.
Anything to improve rare drop rates, though. ANYTHING AT ALL!
As far as special editions go, this one doesn't seem worth the effort to me. I preordered the standard edition from Best Buy as it was more important I get it when they open on release day.
I expect this will be tightly integrated with the various elements of Three Houses since KOEI TECMO worked on both. But I also hope it means Intelligent Systems is working on a proper Fire Emblem game on their own.
I collect some IPs: Fire Emblem, Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles, and a couple others. I'll always preorder physical copies of those games for pick-up on release day. Otherwise, digital or physical purchases whenever I get to it.
@FantasiaWHT I'm about halfway through it, and so far there's no dating or face petting. As far as the flow goes, I'd compare it most to Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. It's just mission after mission, separated only by story segements and the typical camp stuff (character rapport/skills, item purchases, etc.). It does enough to separate itself from Fire Emblem, but is still the closest we've come to a true FE game in over a decade.
@haniwa I woke my son up on a Saturday morning and paid him $10 to get me past the one started on the beach. This is what passes for chores in my household.
This price isn't the big deal that people are making it out to be. Cutting out one takeout order from Longhorn Steakhouse over a 12 month period will cover the cost of a family pass. That said, I'm not doing it because I have no interest in any of the games being offered.
@BulbasaurusRex The audio gaps on the English translation create long pauses that makes the dialogue feel stilted and unnatural. Imagine talking with your friends, but you all wait a couple seconds before each comment/reply. It's annoying. I just meant to say that better flow of the Japanese voice acting makes for a more natural sounding conversation even if I can't understand what they're saying.
@The-Chosen-one You can change the voice acting to Japanese, and I recommend it. Curiously, the pacing seems better in Japanese; the English voice acting has long pauses between lines of dialogue, and this doesn't seem to be the case when listening to the Japanese audio.
At only $5/month, Apple Arcade is one of the best gaming values out there. I'll be just as happy playing this on the Apple TV and SteelSeries Nimbus as I would be on the Switch.
This article is based on the premise that those making the shows would have any clue as to how to make them worth watching. History has shown us that simply wouldn't happen.

I'm not one of those gamers who pretends mobile games can't be great, but Square Enix's mobile entries are typically horrible about IAPs. When was their last good one that didn't require constant purchases? Chaos Rings 2? Symphonica?
@Ryu_Niiyama Yeah, it has definitely changed, but the core mechanics look largely the same. I just hope people don't brush it off due to its mobile roots, as there was a lot to like about this game's "progenitor," as I've seen it called.
I played this on the iPad when it was called Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey. It had its faults as far as turn-based JRPGs go, but it was certainly not a gacha game, and there was enough to it that I'm optimistic about this revamp.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Game On Switch 2, Ranked
From a pure gameplay standpoint, I don't feel Fire Emblem will ever again measure up to Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.

The writers at this site sure do get goofy at times.
