To mark Omega Force's 20th birthday publisher Koei Tecmo is re-releasing some of the most famous entries in the Warriors series on the Nintendo Switch.
On November 9th, the Switch will be getting Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires, Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada and Warriors Orochi in both digital and physical form.
These titles are only confirmed for Japan at present, but given the popularity of the franchise in the west, we'd hope that localisations will be forthcoming.

Bring them over!
No good really unless they're translated and released in the West, which they probably won't be.
I'd rather play this series skinned in something I like and recognize, like, say Fire Emblem.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE These games have translations already. And it's not like there isn't a market here. We had Warriors Orochi 3 on Wii U, plus Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors will have boosted Nintendo fans' interest in the franchise.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
I don't know. I would say that a major incentive behind Hyrule Warriors was to help build some fans overseas as Zelda isn't as popular in Japan. Fire Emblem is another franchise that experienced a recent surge of Western interest.
I'd say this has been part of the plan for awhile if this many games are coming over to Switch and localization is just a budget line away, now, as they've had plenty of experience.
@thesilverbrick I'd like to disagree with you and tell you to give these established sets of characters a try, but... really, the Zelda tie-in was a huge draw and the unlocks were sometimes weird but always fun... also, I'm not sure how many of these games I need in my life. I could probably still get another 50 hours out of Hyrule Warriors.
Spirit of Sanada is a must buy to me since I skipped on PS4 (after platinum on SW4), and which Warriors Orochi?
I really like musou games!
Keep the switch games coming!!!!!
Prepare to learn some Kanji words !
Though I like more Switch games, the Musou genre seems to be overrun on the Switch at the moment (especially Japan), Dragon Quest Heroes 1 & 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, and now the many Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and Warrior's Orochi are coming. I love the genre but having too many seems odd to me since in past generations Nintendo systems had only few or never had these series stick around for the hype. Samurai Warriors 3 appeared for Wii with a portable version appeared for 3DS and then the series seems to disappear thereafter whereas Warrior's Orochi 3 only makes one appearance on Wii U and that game in itself is just to advertised Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.
Dynasty Warriors itself never truly had an appearance on Nintendo console except two mediocre spinoffs for the GBA and DSi. Hopefully with Switch they will stick around longer, a lot of Samurai Warriors Chronicles sequels for 3DS also never had NA release and that to me is just wrong as I really enjoy the original game on that handheld.
Koei Tecmo needs to stop playin and announce all these Switch titles for the West already.
Half of them are already translated from PS4 releases!
A controversial opinion here perhaps, but I much prefer Dynasty Warriors absurd take on The Romance of the Three Kingdoms to either the stories and characters in Hyrule / Fire Emblem Warriors so this is great news for me. I'm really hoping the Ninth installment gets ported over on release too as that looks like it will be an interesting next step for the franchise.
@aaronsullivan I'm sure if I gave the series a shot I could get into it and enjoy the original characters. I was mostly joking, but I will admit that the only reason I ever gave the Warriors model a shot was the Zelda tie-in. Now I rather enjoy the gameplay and am looking forward to seeing it get the Fire Emblem treatment.
I have been playing Fate/extella and while it's a decent game all it's really done for me is make be crave Dynasty Warriors.
Pick and choose, I guess. Of the three, Spirit of Sanada looks the most intriguing...despite the little kids. Only thing more annoying than little kids in video games are Sonic characters.
Why release all those games on the same day?
Getting Spirit of Sanada...got a better chance of finishing on switch than PC.
Nice to see a big company get behind the switch. That it a deries I actually like will make sure I pick up a title when it comes to the west.
Another big 3rd party announcement! Wii U owners could never hope for these type games to appear! Another 3rd party door opens!
The last time I played Dynasty Warriors was back in the PS2 days, so maybe I should give this series another go.
I'm not a fan of the series, including the Zelda version.
I wonder if they will contain any additional content over their PS4/Xbox One releases?
Boy, so many Warrior games now. Perhaps this'll bring hope for an Ultimate Edition of Hyrule Warriors after FE Warriors has had time to sell. Would love a Breath of the Wild expansion to play in both its world and characters like the 4 champions, their descendants, and maybe others. Sure it would add many more hours to complete but meh.
I want Romance and Nobunaga, a new Project Zero or Uncharted Waters!
I already have Hyrule Warriors with lots of replay value and potential still left inside, and if I want more I'd pick Fire Emblem Warriors in October.
This is truly an overload of Musou games. Yeah, I have Samurai Warriors Katana and Samurai Warriors 3 on Wii, which was enough Warriors for that generation.
On Wii U, Hyrule Warriors was enough but we also got Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper and Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 for those who can Musou games forever.
On Switch we now have Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star already out, and Fire Emblem Warriors joining soon, along with Nights of Azure: Bride of the New Moon and this newly announced KOEI TECMO Musou triple pack in just a matter of weeks.
I like Japanese RPGs, but only if there's at least a bit of adventure, puzzling, or exploring, inside. The focus on repetitive battling in those Musou games tire me. If they hadn't at least RPG and strategy elements I wouldn't even like them.
@Angelic_Lapras_King
Only if they'd let us transfer save files. I can't bring enough motivation to start again from scratch. I'd rather go back and complete my Wii U version.
Bring them west Koei Tecmo! Same with the two Nobunaga games and Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Would make good support titles for early next year
I have Hyrule Warriors on my Wii U and 3DS and would happily triple dip on the Switch.
Do you need to know Japanese to play these? Same story just different settings!
I love Ninymtendo but I am really getting annoyed with the "releasing, but Japan only" narrative. Maybe it's selfish but I play a lot of things on my Switch and I want these games.
DW8 Empires is the best game in the franchise. I can't wait to pick this up after playing the clunky PC port for so long. Hopefully they can't keep the enemy count and framerate somewhere near what Fate Extella did, because that game runs wonderfully on Switch.
@IPrino it is region free! And Musou games are pretty light on any meaningful dialogic, so go for the import!
@SKTTR The Empires versions of the Musou games have a lot more to them than most in the genre. There is a really fun element of strategy and kingdom building on top off it, which makes the games much more replayable and engaging. The character creator is also one of the best in all of gaming, other than Dragon's Dogma.
True, I didn't think about that. I actually haven't tried that yet, so I should. Take care.
Only for Japan....NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Ah! Too much musou! Nah, i'm kidding there is never too much Musou. (At least for me) I'll import these if I have to, but of course I would prefer them to be localized.
Can I suggest everyone calm down and think about your poor 'A' buttons?
@Verm There was a ton of DLC released for 8 Empires and Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (assuming that is the one). They could be included? Doubt anything specifically new, normally KT would add a new subline to the title (like Warriors Orochi 3 "Hyper").
Would buy all three if they were to come West. But considering little support from KT in the west on Switch (seriously they have released tons in Japan), and ROTTK13 and Nobunagas Ambition that was suppose to come West this year but now no word.. I'm not holding my breath for them.
Shame really. These games are great on the go.
I'd prefer to see that new Warriors All-Stars game get announced for Switch, but honestly I think Fire Emblem Warriors will be more than enough musou for me personally.
@SKTTR I get where you are going with that but the Musou camps can be split. I know folks that won't ever touch Samurai but live for Dynasty or Gundam. As Hyrule Musou proved...the skin does matter and some are better than others (still not liking Berserk right now).
@thesilverbrick that's why I'm skipping this even if it did make it to the west we have fire emblem coming which I prefer
@DEADCELL Thanks. I'll have a look at Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires then, if it comes to the West. Building an empire could really add a second layer that would be fun to grind and combat for.
@Ryu_Niiyama I see, they're different enough from each other. As for my preference, and spoiled by Samurai Warriors 3 and Hyrule Warriors, I need 2p co-op in my musou games. I presume they all have 2p splitscreen now on Switch? Makes the decision harder.
Hyrule Warriors really changed the reception of musou games on Nintendo consoles.
Come on, Kecmo!!! Give us DEAD OR ALIVE!!!!!
These Warriors games and their 8 million spin offs really give Lego releases a run for their money.
I don't remember ever playing a muso game, but I have seen videos of games like these and they look fun. If they play anything like the versus mode in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure then I'll at least have some idea of what I'd be getting into.
@retro_player_22 Don't forget the Switch is also getting Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star to add to all the other muso games. That game seems to be getting swept to the wayside, I hope nothing's wrong with it.
