Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is just days away - yes, our review will be live before its release - and fans of incredibly complex and lengthy RPGs will soon be rejoicing. It's a game with plenty of promise, but one area perhaps overlooked in the official overview videos / Nintendo Direct is the soundtrack. It's hard to focus on it, sometimes, above all the narration and regional accents.
Yet we can testify to the soundtrack being fabulous in this new entry, with various styles and instrumentation approaches used for different areas and scenarios. Some standouts are choral arrangements for more mythical or soulful areas, and Nintendo has published a video for one of these tracks - Shadow of the Lowlands.
We can attest to the fact that music like this helps the hours melt away when playing, but have a listen for yourself below.
Are you planning to pick up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 this week?

If I don't show up for a couple of months after Friday, PLEASE UNDERSTAND!
Amazing!
Wow
Nope, nope, nope! I gotta experience this in-game firsthand! Man, the hype has certainly grown the last few days. I can hardly contain my excitement.
Surprising collaboration. Sounds Skyrimish.
Is there a way to digital preorder this game and buy the soundtrack somewhere?
Beautiful!
Not my cup of tea. The Battle Theme sounds extremely good though.
Hm... I love all the folkish, scandinavian, pagan, witches chants kind of music (and I suppose that's the category where this track falls), and honestly this is rather average. Still, looking forward for the game
@erv It is available for eShop pre-load in Europe, maybe NA too.
Is this actually in the game?
I've gotta admit, this game might have the best OST of the year. Love almost every track I've heard. Did NOT expect that, considering the OST of the first game never really did much for me.
But then, if Switch-era Nintendo is about anything, it's about defying the odds and surpassing everyone's expectations of them.
@ThomasBW84 it is, just without a digital soundtrack purchase it seems.
I'm gonna pre-order it in the eshop one of these days.
Oh my, I wasn't aware that Yasunori Mitsuda made his return to the Xeno Series with this! Good stuff! His Xenogears Soundtrack is one of my favorite soundtracks from the PS1 Era, especially the arranged Album "Creid" (and the Chrono Cross Soundtrack also was an absolute dream, especially considering how good it sounded, despite being soundchip-based and not CD-based). Love it already.
Wow 😳
Sure, the song's pretty, but if I run into these people in the game I will attack them on sight. They scare me more than any level 97 tyrant. I bet their rare drop will be something sucky, though...like a bowtie or one of those vests.
@ThomasBW84 Not going to say the name of the composer though?
It's because Yasunori Mitsuda is back at the helm for the music! Can't wait for this.
Very nice! If this game scores good and is more accesable then x I'll buy it, but it will be next year.
