You can play Eric Chahi's classic 1991 cinematic platformer action-adventure game Another World on practically every gaming platform known to mankind these days - except for the Switch, of course.
This is all about to change as DotEmu has just announced that a Switch version of the seminal game is planned for Spring this year.
We really enjoyed getting reacquainted with the title back in 2014 on the Wii U eShop. This Switch port seems like it will be one of the best ways to experience this near-legendary game.
Let us know if you plan to pick this up in Spring with a comment below.

There's still something really cool about the way this game looks.
Great it’s coming to switch for those that still haven’t played this on the 100 other systems it’s already on.
We need Tetris next
Man what a weird game... people seem fond of it so I might as well try it, but why is it always finding its way back to my feeds more than other olden games?
Great game but just beat the 20th anniversary edition on Wii U so don't see myself running this down again anytime soon. For anyone that's never played it though it's a very cool experience.
What ever happened to that Flashback remake/remaster that was supposed to be coming to the Switch?
Classic... love to replay this on Switch.
Mike Aruba!
@1UP_MARIO Did you forget Puyo Puyo Tetris already?
Always thought this was massively overrated
I haven't played it but have heard great things so I may have to pick this up.
Paid €1.50 for this on Wii U.
Another rererererererererelease for Switch has clambered out of the Abyss and has been unleashed upon the World.
This game always makes me nostalgic for my Amiga years.
@1UP_MARIO you know we already have tetris on switch right?
Got this on 3DS, was great fun to play again, but forgot how frustrating it is timing jumps perfectly etc.
Oh wow yet another re-release of a game that's seen more releases than Skyrim. Tonight's Direct better be a good one. All I've seen this year so far is re-releases. Barring Dark Souls Remaster, nothing has me excited for anything on the Switch so far, i want to see third parties giving the Switch something worth getting excited about,as well as first party stuff
What's next Shadow of the beast? Oooh look parallax scrolling.
@FragRed
I'm curious too. I would love to play Flashback again. I played this again on Wii-U, but haven't played Flashback since over 20 years ago on Sega CD
@rdrunner1178 Now Flashback is something I'd love to play again, or maybe it's the nostalgia talking.
It's a fantastic game. Played it plenty on the PC, both original and remaster. I'd recommend it.
Really love this game back in the SNES/Genesis days but c'mon just a straight port of the old version? I know the sequel was never canon but at least include Heart of the Alien (the Sega CD filler sequel) in there as well.
"No one should have a chance to play games that I've played on other systems. Especially not on the go."
But seriously, I loved this game.
I think I had enough fun with this one on the Amiga.
Echoing those above, I think Flashback was the better game. I'd buy that for Switch in an instant.
I'll purchase for the 100th time.... It's a classic.
Would have been nice as a complication though , Another World , Heart of the alien , Flashback and Fade to Black.
I believe I own this on 8 different platforms. Looks like I'll be adding a 9th when it releases on Switch!
A must have for me
Having spend my formative years with a Commodore Amiga 500, you can bet I will gladly pay to have readily accessible on my Switch for life.
I have this for 3DS and the game is beautiful, but I can't make it 10 meters without dying -_-
@retro_player_22 It looks like an HD remaster, not a straight port.
I was always mystified and intrigued by this game looking at screenshots in Nintendo Power as a kid. Does it hold up for someone who never played it back in the day?
Will get this along with any other Amiga games. Would love to see the Megadrive version of Flashback.
Not a fan of the gameplay on this or Flashback. Anyone who played this as a kid was probably used to it and fondly remembers it, but I sadly got to try this out too late.
@wollywoo If you can look past the dated graphics, then you'll find a REALLY great game and great story underneath it. There's a very good reason that this is a classic.
EDIT:
For you and others interested, here's a comparison video of the Amiga original and the updated "HQ" version, which will more than likely also be the version that'll be released on the Switch.
EDIT 2:
I thought that the video I posted, had some gameplay, but it's only the intro, so here's some actual gameplay as well, from the Wii U version:
Description of the video, to explain why it looks like an amateur playing the game:
Eric Cháhi's 1991 stunning "Another World" has arrived on consoles today! I bought both 3DS and Wii U versions. It's a port of the "20th Anniversary" HD remake that graced PC and mobile back in 2011. In case you were too young to have played this back on Amiga, I decided to show off every way you can get killed in the very first minutes of the game in this video. Back then, there were no gamefaqs so we had to learn the hard way. Enjoy!
@wollywoo It's a straight port of the 20th Anniversary Edition which already came out for PC, iOS, Android, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, 3DS, Ouya, Xbox One, PS Vita, and Wii U. If you haven't bought it for any of those then this might be new to you. I already got this on PS Vita so I don't need it on Switch.

One of my favorite childhood games. Really interesting gameplay and haunting graphics for its time! That cat-beast thing at the start gave me fits!
