Re: Kirby Air Riders Zooms Onto Switch 2 This November

Warioware

The game looks fun, more interesting than MKW and Sakurai seems like a nice guy but that Direct was just exhausting in my opinion - a ten minute trailer would have sufficed. Maybe I'll get flamed for saying this but it reminded me of the Smash character reveals that ate up 30% of every Direct for two years with exhaustive move breakdowns. Just my opinion, but part of the fun is exploring. That felt like a tutorial video with "move the stick left to turn left" type detail. Still interested in the game, just, less is more IMO. Flame on.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Drag x Drive

This seems like a good idea in some ways (I personally prefer wheelchair basketball over NBA-style which I find really boring, and enjoyed it during the Olympics) but it seems barebones and drab, a bit of a "what could have been". A bit more confidence behind it might have made it a hit, especially in the launch window - some Mario or Nintendo-style characters and fun, a single player RPG mode like Mario Sports games. Just..... More Nintendo-isms. A bit of a shame really.

Re: This Super Punch-Out!! Style Game Is On The Way To Switch, Here's A Look

Warioware

I love anime but really didn't like Baki. The visual style (and I think this game looks kinda bland too as a result) was the start but then a character literally having all of his bones smashed (not just broken) but still fighting..... I'm all for suspending disbelief but at that point there seemed to be no internal rules or stakes so for me there was no interest or excitement, therefore tuned out.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Partner Direct Predictions - What Do You Expect To See?

Warioware

@Fiergala Persona 3 was an odd one for me since I have owned every version I am aware of, played them all up to about the same point and then reasons prevented me from going further. Finally resolved to finish it and did so a few months ago on Switch. I really wish they had just put P3P and P3FES out in HD with, maybe some QOL and then put their resources into a new game rather than the remake. As I recall it's set in 2009 and it's kind of apt that it feels like a game from that time.

In general I like the preservation of games and love well presented retro releases and collections. But FFIX is a good example - it is available on current machines and still as fun and charming as it was before, so why not just play it that way? No need to remake it, just make a new game instead.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Partner Direct Predictions - What Do You Expect To See?

Warioware

@Fiergala indeed you are correct😁

EDIT: Ah, I think I misunderstood - because I said about the Atlus games? Mostly I mean Metaphor (sadly not in the direct) and I would like Soul Hackers 2 but I'm not sure that will happen. I am curious about P3R but I felt it was an unnecessary remake (and I feel that way about most remakes). I only finished P3P HD earlier this year so I am in no rush to replay this story. I have also heard that the remake lacks some of the identity of the original but I haven't played it
I feel stronger about Persona 4 and FFIX since Persona 4 is probably my favourite game ever and FFIX is possibly my favourite FF but at least a nostalgic title for me. Ultimately though, I prefer talented teams to work on new material and the old games to be preserved by teams like Digital Eclipse.

Re: Review: Tales Of The Shire: A The Lord Of The Rings Game (Switch) - The Hobbit, Or "There It Crashed Again"

Warioware

I'm definitely in the "this looked bad from the start" camp here. And so the assault on great IPs continues. Also they really do love to dig into the hobbits and blast mine the Lord of the Rings books. They're pouring millions into another two movies derived from about half a paragraph in the book rather than ponying up for the Great Tales novels that might actually expand the world somewhat.

Re: Review: Patapon 1+2 Replay (Switch) - A Pleasing Return For Some PSP Charmers

Warioware

@Unit_DTH good to hear, wonder why some seem to be saying so. I would be double dipping but I don't understand why the third game seems to gave been buried. I never finished it but as I recall it was just as good and ended the journey. Also a bit different with the RPG elements. Licensing issues or something? But it feels incomplete without them

EDIT: Just had a look on Google and apparently the main reason is the multiplayer elements. I never used them before but I never finished the game so perhaps they are more useful later on

Re: PSA: You Can Play One Of The Greatest Platformers Of All Time In Street Fighter 6

@Ooyah I don't think anybody could forget that river crossing but that's the nice thing about rewind and save states 🤣 I actually want the collection more for the IK games which form some of my earliest gaming memories (along with the near identical Way of the Exploding Fist). Really wish they would put the C64 and Amiga versions of Myth on there too and I know nothing about Dropzone. Not sure that modern System3 has the same clout as 80s and 90s System3.

The Turrican collections were under ININ Games 😓 So they were the usual confusing cash grab with the (needlessly) two part anthology games being physical only and digital getting the lacklustre Turrican Flashback collection before the anthologies got digital releases because, well, ININ Games (seems unwise to buy any of their collections at launch). None of these had the C64 version(s??) on them though.

Re: PSA: You Can Play One Of The Greatest Platformers Of All Time In Street Fighter 6

@Ooyah didn't get to Ghouls n Ghosts until I had an Amiga. The thing with C64 Ghosts n Goblins was that the technical limitations meant you could only fire one lance at a time. I very much doubt I could ever beat it again. I also beat the "unplayable" Double Dragon C64 version after noticing a win trick that my brother seemed to do by accident. I really wish there was more C64 love out there. Pixel Games have done a few releases and collections but a lot of it seems lost these days. Also I think something weird happened with a lot of the licenses during the Wii time. I really want to play Mad Doctor again and finally finish it.....

Re: PSA: Do Your Switch 2 Joy-Con Disconnect In Docked Mode? It Might Be The HDMI Cable You're Using

Warioware

The storage situation (yeah, I'll keep ringing that bell) and the "not as good as an OLED" screen aside, the Switch 2 feels like a far more premium piece of electronics than the original. The joycons in particular feel far better than the S1. The magnetic connections alone are a massive improvement. All the talk of joycon drift last generation, I think I had with one joycon. Problems with desynchronization and the runners holding them in place on the other hand, well I had that several times.

Higher capacity SD cards (and maybe raise the 2TB cap? Does anybody know if that's possible? Or a second slot?) and an OLED screen in the mid-cycle revision would be good but that's a ways off. For now it is a great machine that feels very sturdy to me.
