Re: Review: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (Switch) - Even Better Than The Stellar Original

Warioware

@Ralizah a fellow Vita fan? 😅 Admittedly much of its catalogue has migrated now but for a long time it hosted my favourite game (Persona 4 Golden, yes, along with PC).

I certainly agree about bringimg over the rest of Vanillaware's catelogue. I think my global point is that after so many releases like this one I don't have much trust in Atlus as a company, even though they already hooked me in and I keep buying their stuff anyway. Maybe I am part of the very problem I am complaining about 😅

"this new version almost completely nullifies that first release"
So can they also nullify my payment from three years ago too please? I will gladly put it towards yhis new version if they do.....

Deep sale for me. Love Atlus games but this business model irks me as one of their (usually) early adopting fans. Even hesitant to pick up Unicirn Overlord in case there is a "Regal" edition in a couple of years or so.

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Upcoming June Nintendo Direct

Warioware

I have been expecting a Luigi's Mansion 1 shadow drop in this direct (like Pikmin) since 2 was announced, so maybe. There is a Xenoblade X rumour floating round it seems. I would like Nier Replicant and Etetnights is supposed to be coming to Switch. Not much else at this point beyond my hopes for Pandora's Tower to get some love and some other ports that or something.

Re: Atlus To Delist Shin Megami Tensei V & All DLC From Switch eShop

Warioware

@BlueMage yeah me too, I bought the DLC but struggled to get into the game (preferred SMTIV actually). Atlus' games are some of my favourites but their strategies... well, no. Also, the standalone nature of the new content just reinfirces that this should gave been DLC. The new stuff in the Persona games and Catherine would probably gave required too much reworking to just patch it in.

Re: Atlus To Delist Shin Megami Tensei V & All DLC From Switch eShop

@Wisps Persona is one of my faviurite franchises but it is unlikely that I will buy the next one when it launches because 3 years later there will be the emerald version or something. I agree that this should be DLC (I think there are no changes to the original content anyway).

With SMTV specifically I thought that Nintendo publishing it might have made a difference or that they would do what they did with SMTIV with a second linked stsndalone game. Guess not.

Re: Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Update 2 Now Available, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Warioware

@the_beaver as PixelateVision said there is The Last Revelation and Chronicles, essentially 4 and 5. Chronicles is mostly a bunch of short adventures told in Flashback whilst characters from TLR discuss Lara's possible fate and it was described by one of the developers as "complete sh#t" but I remember enjoying it. Different times back then though.....

The Angel of Darkness which I think was the last game from the original team (on PS2) was awful but a lit of signs, even at the time, suggested it was released in a far from finished state, possibly with a lot of cut features and content (I am saying this from hazy memories though)

Re: Video: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Second Official Trailer Released

Warioware

So if this is published by Sega rather than Nintendo this time then it might actually see a deep sale in a bit. I love Atlys games, one of my favourite developers, but their release strategies border on dishonest and unethical (not illegal unethical, but.....). This should have a DLC option, it doesn't seem to have reworking like P5R

Re: Review: Unicorn Overlord (Switch) - A Crowning Tactical RPG Achievement For Vanillaware

Warioware

@LikelySatan I tried it on PSP but it was basically impossible without Japanese knowledge. Seemed like it had a lot of similarities to Odin Sphere though. I had forgotten about Grand Knights Story and I think there was a life sim on DS as well. Maybe with the success (I think?) of 13 Sentinels and the possible success of this one (all good reviews so far it seems), maybe there will be some renewed interest in their back-catalogue. It would be nice anyway (are you reading this Digital Eclipse?)

Exiled nobility rallying an army to reclaim his birthright? With Dune 2 doing well at the box office currently..... hm.

Would love the othet Vanillaware games on Switch, seems like the perfect place for them. We have three now so I think that leaves Odin Sphere, Dragon's Crown and Muramasa. Unless by some magic they can also dust off and localise Princess Crown. Had an old PSP Japanese copy of that which has been lost to time.

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight Still Runs Poorly On Switch Despite Massive Update

Warioware

@Astral-Grain @Truegamer79 think I come in on your side here and The Outer Worlds is probably the best comparison on Switch along with maybe Darksiders 3 too. It is a visual downgrade for sure and the perfirmance is janky but it isn't worse than a lot of stuff from the Amiga and PS1 era. Better elsewhere, yes; unplayable, no. But like I said in my post you probably need a bit of "old games-style" tolerance for the problems. Honestly my main issue with the game is that I don't like the floaty feeling of the Batmobile and the constant tank interruptions, things that a problem with the design, not the performance.

Also, I've installed the patch now and for people saying it adds 16GB extra, it doesn't. It seems to be largely over-writes and file replacement because the game is only a couple of gigs bigger after the install.

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight Still Runs Poorly On Switch Despite Massive Update

Warioware

Hm. Not sure where to come down here. I picked this up recently with some heavy discounting considering Knight as a bit of a "bonus" but I have actually spent more time with it so far than I did with the other two. It is a stutter-fest for sure and even I had to reboot once because it wouldn't cooperate. But... maybe I'm just in impressed that they got something like this (that my PS4 seemed to struggle with when it first launched) running on mobile tech that must be about ten years old in real terms at this point. I always thought the excessive Batmobile sections made the game the worst of the trilogy anyway but, well, I've actually been preferring it as a mobile game. Maybe because I used to love games like Hunter on the Amiga that probably ran at about 7FPS that it just doesn't affect me so badly. Anyway, hope they keep working on it. On discount the trilogy is still worth it for the first two and Knight is playable if you have sufficient tolerance for jank, like in the old days.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Gets Extended Trailer And A Tasty Steelbook

Warioware

I am sure I will get this eventually but how eventually will depend on whether it is delivered as a DLC or just as a new version. I love Atlus games, one of my favoyrite producers, but their strategy of releasing enhanced standalone versions of their ganes (normally after enough time has passed to make you think that they won't) is getting annoying and borders on unethical, even if not legally so.
