@120frames-please there is the Wipeout on PSVR and I think they all run at 60fps out of VR necessity (although I can barely see the letters I am typing so fps doesn't much matter to me).
I am alao curious who currently owns the Commodore 64 games that I think were owned by Commodore Gaming when they appeared on the Wii shop. That would make a good collection too.
@120frames-please Worms was Team17 as I recall and they are still very much around. I think a lot of people forget or don't know that former Psygnosis staff went on to create Rickstar. I think they are also responsible for the Driver franchise and Wipeout. But, like I said, I'm pretty sure that Sony bought them up along with their back catalogue. Still would be great though.
Another interesting one might be Sensible Software (Cannon Fodder, Wizkid etc). So much potential with these collections. Hell, Nintendo give them some money to do an "unsung classics" collection or something (grumble Star Tropics still exists grumble Pandora's Tower grumble)

As for next, I would love for Psygnosis to get a collection like this but I think that Sony owns the rights to them. Delphine Software would be nice too but again I think there are scattered rights issues there.
Never finished this when it first came out so I am glad i's getting this remake. It has some issues but I remember really liking it back then. Wish they were doing the sequel too, which I have barely touched.
This is all fine it seems although I am still not sure if it is worth it if you have access to the GBA version.....? However, I strongly hope that this is not THE rumoured Donkey Kong game that is supposedly somewhere out there in development
@demacho Shifted some vouchers and gold coins around and have now ended up with Muhimesama, Dodonpachi and Deathsmiles. All recommended on here and all currently on holiday sales. May have bitten off more than I can chew here but let's see! So far though, I think I am a little surprised to say that Dodonpachi seems like the least interesting of these.....

@kuponick It is very tempting. As I said above I am going to give Mushehimesama a go and if that clicks I will try the "novice +" modes in some of the others. The ravages of age might be the real problem though, but let's see how it pans out.
@demacho I have "cave"d in, but on the apparently more accessible Mushehimesama (currently on sale). Going to give that a try and if I can make it click then I might try the Dodonpachi game available in the European region. Not ready to start looking around for the Shot Triggers ports yet though.....
@sdelfin I generally love visually flashy stuff but most of these are just overwhelming for me and even watching playthroughs I can't tell what makes a successful run or why somebody is or isn't winning. I can't stand hitboxes though. I don't want to call it lazy but I guess my first comment on the matter does suggest that - make the sprites smaller or design the waves around bigger sprites. It seems like the developers want to have the cake and eat it in this area since they want a nice design but also the incessant, tight gameplay. There is an unsung shooter on the eShop called Risk System that actually plays with the idea of hitboxes (the "risk" in the title) and that is actually quite interesting, but most of the time I find it creates a disconnect for me, my poor old eyes rejecting the dissonance onscreen!
@Tom-Massey thanks again. I saw the other Dodonpachi game on the eshop (currently on sale) and it is tempting. Physical isn't an option right now because of my nomadic lifestyle. All this info is great though

I love shooters but I just can't get on with bullet hell. So much on the screen and my naff eyesight makes them feel like shopping in a crowded mall versus an empty one. And I can't stand hit boxes - just make the sprites smaller and make it so that they can effectively weave through the waves by designing them around the size of that sprite.....? Again it messes with my eyesight and also breaks the atmosphere for me - it just seems strange that bullets are just floating over what is clearly part of my ship / thing / anime character.
So, having said that, am I still likely to disregard this one as subjectively unplayable for me or can I actually have a stab at it and feel some of the hype? Because I am genuinely curious given all of the high praise in the reviews I have seen.
And in fact, whilst I'm here, and should anybody notice this post - wasn't there a company a couple of years ago talking about bringing C64 games to the Switch? Having them on the Wii was a massive win and it was a great disappointment when they took them off. I didn't bother to renew my NSO subscription yet but that might entice me. Better yet would be if whoever owns the rights to all those games that were on Wii VC put out a collection though.

Just thought of another in Persona 5 Royal and P4G (actually my favourite game ever) but they both feature social links that time out and after that significant content is locked. This is fine and you do get an obtuse heads-up in bith games this will happen but it is not much warning in bkth cases and missing it could mean restarting 100 hour games about 75 hours in if you don't luckily have a viable save point (although even then you are looking at a hefty replay chunk).
@sketchturner horses for courses I guess and some of the bosses were challenging but fun. But that one was just a bullet sponge to me and having three phases that were basically pattern memorisation and tell memorisation meaning you are unlikely to win on first-time skill alone, plus there was a short trip (and cutscene as I recall) to start the fight over (see my other post on that pet-peeve) and, well..... I just didn't feel like the game respected my time at that point, nor did it naturally flow from the difficulty up to that point. I still mostly liked Dread but I found it uneven and the final boss was probably the biggest example of that. I was playing it round my old parents' house with headphones and even they eventually told me to knock it off with the grunting and muttered cursing! Not a fan of difficulty spike brick walls (as I said with the Octopath wolf, should anybody know a good way to kill that !@#@!#).
@rainbowtick never felt any dread though, just groaned whenever I came across one of the robot sections. As you say, exploration is key to these games but having random, beligerent insta-death bringers means you just want to exit those sections until absolutely necessary. Never felt any tension facing them, just annoyance 😅
@fox_mattcloud yeah it was a ridiculous difficulty spike and honestly I found the robot chase sections to be tedious trial and error stages where you could insta-death walking through a door if you didn't constantly check the map.
I would also add to the list any metroidvanias that feature dufficult bosses without a save spot next to them forcing you to retread easy but lengthy sections to get back to them and fail again. Looking at you, Hollow Knight.....
Metroid Dread's actual "dread" sections and final boss spring quickly to mind as parts I hated in a game I otherwise loved.
The wolf boss in Octopath Traveller is another. Loved that game up to that point and have never beaten - rage quit twice, one of them being just a couple of months back.
Oh and the desert boss in TOTK. Not particularly tough but not fun and the camera went ballistic.....
I am not sure what people were expecting with Knight. I am pretty old and remember the old 15fps days so frame rates rarely bother me, but thinking back 6 or 7 years I think even I noticed some dips in Knight on PS4. So getting it to run on mobile tech from the same time is pretty impressive to me. If they can smooth it out with some patches then kudos.
Oh, this one..... I will stick with my near unplayed 3DS version unless there are significant QOL or content additions. For some reason I am reminded of The Last Story and wonder why it is all but forgotten these days.....

With the sequel, whilst information is limited I genuinely think they have gone back to the drawing board a few times, maybe with just some mechanics and design done. We had the Jade and Peyj teaser in 08, then that aeful monkey trailer ages ago and tgen an open world looking thing. None of these seemed to be necessarily connected in terms of concept. Just my own view, but I think conceptually it has probably gone through a few designs. Pretty sure that the words prequel and sequel have both been floated at different points, so.....
@Kilroy it's a shame because they do actually publish some good gamed but their pricing is usually high and their tendency to release collections in volumes and then a full-featured total package latter is pretty cynical and verges on morally unethical even if it isn't legally unethical.

I know people are making light of this and true it's not really a big deal. But consumer law does exist and buyers have rights. It's not hard to see that if you pay for a red car and they give you a blue one then you have not received what you wanted and contracted for.
All great to me. Not sure if this is a popular view but I would rather have a Paper Mario HD remaster collection than the TYD remake. The art style means that even the N64 game still looks decent. Plus a Mario and Luigi collection. Nintendo don't seem too interested in doing collections though.
@HaileySheridon or older ones who are slowing down a bit! I seem to remember feeling pretty tired when level 1 turned to level 2 but with save states and rewinds it might be an interesting curio.
@HaileySheridon actually wondered if Konami might do that after the Turtles one. Throw in the arcade game and Space Mutants. But I'm not sure that many of them are that fondly remembered these days.
Would have been nice to get The Lost World from PS1. Remember liking it ages ago but may not have aged well.

Kamiya's comments are not cool but I would like to try and separate the man from the art and so Okami remains a classic. Bayonetta 3 was crap though, on all levels (loved 2). Honestly I think Platinum are overrated in general and many of tgeir games have serious camera issues (love Nier Automata for its world but the impirtant boss in the junk storm, well, I just could not tell what was going on as the cameta bounced around like a swingball, but I still beat it easily by spamming dodge, hit and heal). Seems like filling the screen with tons of junk is often considered great action these days. Just my old man opinion.
@Znake I genuinely think so. I remember way back when talking to somebody about how it would be a bit of an issue. And at that time there were still rumours of Hayter voicing a younger version of SS in 5. I could have understood them using the voice actor of Solidus (Jihn Cygan.....?) since he is an aged clone, but I think Kojima just wanted a more famous Hollywood name.
They should not have dropped him for 5, I like consistency across my series and from what I have heard it was a fairly unceremonious dropping too. Voice actors are better at voice acting than screen actors for the most part.

All great to me. Not sure if this is a popular view but I would rather have a Paper Mario HD remaster collection than the TYD remake. The art style means that even the N64 game still looks decent. Plus a Mario and Luigi collection. Nintendo don't seem too interested in doing collections though.

@HaileySheridon or older ones who are slowing down a bit! I seem to remember feeling pretty tired when level 1 turned to level 2 but with save states and rewinds it might be an interesting curio.

@HaileySheridon actually wondered if Konami might do that after the Turtles one. Throw in the arcade game and Space Mutants. But I'm not sure that many of them are that fondly remembered these days.
Would have been nice to get The Lost World from PS1. Remember liking it ages ago but may not have aged well.

Kamiya's comments are not cool but I would like to try and separate the man from the art and so Okami remains a classic. Bayonetta 3 was crap though, on all levels (loved 2). Honestly I think Platinum are overrated in general and many of tgeir games have serious camera issues (love Nier Automata for its world but the impirtant boss in the junk storm, well, I just could not tell what was going on as the cameta bounced around like a swingball, but I still beat it easily by spamming dodge, hit and heal). Seems like filling the screen with tons of junk is often considered great action these days. Just my old man opinion.

@Znake I genuinely think so. I remember way back when talking to somebody about how it would be a bit of an issue. And at that time there were still rumours of Hayter voicing a younger version of SS in 5. I could have understood them using the voice actor of Solidus (Jihn Cygan.....?) since he is an aged clone, but I think Kojima just wanted a more famous Hollywood name.

They should not have dropped him for 5, I like consistency across my series and from what I have heard it was a fairly unceremonious dropping too. Voice actors are better at voice acting than screen actors for the most part.
