@Runex2121 I agree, it’s a bit perplexing. Especially since Street Fighter 6 is viewed so highly when it has a smaller roster than MK1, less costumes, and no true story mode (they have a mode where you play as an avatar character instead).

Just don’t really understand what makes MK1 so inferior to other fighters. I enjoyed it.

It is bizarre they’ve never released an arcade collection. Especially since Capcom is constantly making collections with Street Fighter games.

MK 1 especially leaned on nostalgia and had cameos and outfits referencing old games. But as someone who didn’t get into MK until much later, those old references were lost on me. They really should follow Capcom’s lead and make those old games accessible to newcomers so they can get more invested in the series lore and history.

It’s a shame, but I’ve enjoyed the game and played it a lot since launch. It has a good roster and the invasions stuff gave me plenty to do as a primarily single player. Here’s hoping the next project is Injustice 3???

As a free player, I can’t keep up with these anymore. Still missing a ton of cards from the base sets, but I suppose that’s the point lol

I know I’m in the minority, but gaming is usually not a social activity for me. I just like to unwind and relax, I really am not in the mood to be chatting with people. That’s why I could never be a streamer haha. But yeah, I see a feature like this chat and I know I’ll likely never touch it.

Switch 2 is exactly what I expected. Just a few improvements over the original but still the same feel. If you look at their history, no one should be surprised. You had Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, the DS then 3DS, the Wii then Wii U.

I definitely enjoyed my time with S/V more than Sw/Sh overall. Is it perfect? No. But it’s still fun. It gets overlooked by all the discussions on performance and whatnot, but I’d say S/V has one of the better stories than most Pokemon games. The characters were all fairly memorable and the school setting was nice (though could have been implemented a bit more). The DLC was also pretty solid with a fun little story and additional Pokemon. I also really liked paradox Pokemon, it gave us some fun twists on classic Pokemon designs. The online discourse always focused on the negatives, but there’s a lot to like in S/V.

I wasn’t tempted to get this again until now. I love the original voice actors and all, but it’s a better experience for me when I can understand what’s being said without reading subtitles. I’ve really enjoyed the English cast in the LAD series and Gaiden/Pirate, so I’m definitely more tempted to give this a second go now.

Unfortunately it just means I won’t take as many risks. Back on the 3DS when games were $30-$40, I’d buy almost anything Nintendo. Discovered a lot of good series that way. But now I’ll probably just stick to what I know I’ll like (Mario Kart, DK) and wait for sales on the others. And since Nintendo doesn’t do a ton of sales, well…. Who knows how many games I’ll end up getting. Definitely will have a lighter backlog, but maybe that’s for the best.

Always amazed by Mortal Kombat 11. I know it frequently goes on deep sales but still, pretty nuts to be up there higher than the newer entry.

I’m a little surprised the Switch never added some of the more “homey” touches the 3DS had. I miss themes, customizable menus, the badges you could decorate with, etc. Just a little personalization would go a long way.

Got this game on sale some months later and I really enjoyed it. The hate was overblown (although I do know it had some technical problems at launch). Definitely worth giving it a shot if you haven’t. Kay, Nix, and ND are awesome, and balancing reputation with the different gangs is a fun mechanic. You get to do all the fun scoundrel things too like heists and sabacc. Can’t wait for the second round of DLC to release

Media is a rough business and gaming especially feels like a saturated market. There are quite a few sites out there and even more podcasts and videos. Not to mention sites like Reddit that are filled with gaming related news and content for free. Definitely support the people you like, but no one is owed your attention or views. It’s a hydra. If one place is not serving their audience anymore, there will be two more sites or voices to take its place.

But don’t worry NL, you all still have my attention.

I usually open it just to see the new animation, but I rarely spend more than a few seconds in it. The feed is pretty underwhelming and I rarely click on anything now. I have a feeling I’ll forget about the app entirely in another month or two, but who knows

$9.99 still seems too steep for something you’ll probably touch once and then never again

The Wii had Wii Sports included. 3DS has Face Raiders, the Mii Plaza, and that AR game. Even their competitors at PlayStation have a free game on the console that shows off the system’s features. It’s crazy Nintendo has moved away from that.

It’s giving Wii U (I’ll let you try to guess if I think that’s a good or bad thing lol)

@Edwirichuu agreed. The camera is being overlooked because I really don’t think most people will get much utility out of it. This isn’t the DSi or 3DS where the camera is built in. I really don’t I’d personally use a camera much to justify buying one solely for a Mario Party upgrade.

Gotta say, I’m not happy about a bunch of Switch games I already have being “launch” titles with upgrades I have to buy… at least I don’t have to buy the entire game again, I guess, but it’s pretty underwhelming

@N00BiSH delisted yes, but people who purchased it still had access to that game. You can still redownload those games if you purchased them before they were delisted. That’s different from NSO removing a game for everyone on Switch.

This is why I miss Virtual Console, man. And being able to buy game collections for retro Nintendo stuff. I like owning games rather than just renting them. And yeah, yeah, I know digital “ownership” isn’t the most secure thing in the world, but I still have access to all my Virtual Console purchases so… feels more permanent than NSO

Just got this today and it’s amazing. It’s got great saving features, filters, cheats you can enable to do things like unlock all cards or infinite money, and scans of the manuals! The nostalgia. I will definitely be spending a lot of time with this. This is my childhood lol.

@SurprisedRobinChu I was thinking that lol. It’s usually not that bad either because cards are slowly doled out to you in most these old games. You can just build a deck as you go, you don’t really need to sit there right away reading cards.

Honestly the reason I prefer playing the old GB and GBA Yu Gi Oh games to the more modern ones is because it’s a bit simpler. Some of the new cards and abilities in the modern games gets to be really confusing, so I prefer the smaller, more classic pool of cards. Can’t wait to get this one!

Surely we’re due for news on the next game. 2024 was pretty rough for Pokemon fans with nothing on the Switch so, here’s hoping they were putting that energy into 2025 and the Switch 2!

This is ridiculous. Gold points were such a simple thing, I don’t understand why they’d get rid of them. Sure, the savings weren’t amazing, but it was nice to save a little money here and there.

This game really fell off. I felt like I heard a lot about it up until launch and then it immediately disappeared. I looked at it in the eshop too and was shocked they had a Wicked DLC I never heard of. You’d think with the massive success of that movie, they would’ve advertised that crossover a bit.

Ultimately though, I don’t think this game’s performance had much to do with the Pop brand. Pop Vinyls still sell seemingly well enough. I think this game didn’t catch because it was an odd collection of mismatched IPs and it looked like a knockoff Lego game. But where Lego games have a strong appeal to kids, I don’t think franchises like Shaun of the Dead, The Thing, or Hot Fuzz have any appeal to younger demographics.

About time. I’m getting tired of pulling nothing new day after day lol. Those last few cards from the first wave will forever elude me, it seems.

@rvcolem1 it really is crazy. Pokémon cards should be something you can casually pick up at a store. Same with fun popcorn buckets and whatnot. But no, you need to apparently line up at 5 am to race with other adults if you want to get new cards. Takes away a lot of the fun when you need to “compete” just to buy products.

As someone who hasn’t collected Pokemon cards in years, this was a great write-up but also confused the heck out of me lol. Sounds like there’s just way too much going on and I feel like a boomer for wishing things were simpler again.

Forget that, my biggest question is why we never got a new, original Donkey Kong game. It’s insane he never got a new outing especially with the fact Universal Studios is making an entire ride for him. What the heck, Nintendo!

Gotta admit, it’s been a bit of a dud year for me. Little sad to see. I knew I had been spending more time with my PlayStation this year, but I didn’t expect to have less than 100 hours on my Switch! Guess I’m ready for Switch 2.

My top 3 btw were Pokemon Scarlet, Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, and Princess Peach Showtime.

So far this is fun! It truly is a “complete” version of pocket camp. It’s nice to be able to play pocket camp without all the in-app purchases and whatnot.

I like these promo events but I do wish there was some guarantee you’d get the cards eventually. I was lucky enough to get Lapras in the last event, but I know some weren’t able to. Too much RNG for a limited time event.
