Re: Talking Point: What's The Worst Game That You Still Love For Some Reason?

VR32X

Conan on the NES, Waifu Impact, Robotron 64, Empire Strikes Back on GB, Criticom, Mario is Missing on SNES and Stunt Race FX have all entertained me far more than they probably should have throughout various stages of my life. Theres probably a few other games, but they’re hiding deep in my soul… from the likes of Conan’s blade. Oh yeah. And RoboCop on a Tandy Color Computer, or it was some kind of computer you’d hook to your TV. You’d have to dig through a giant book to learn how to teach it commands to do just about anything, including vector shapes and art. You’d actually have to run a code to get the game to play in color. I was determined to beat that game as a kid, even though the NES was there and was far better.

Re: Star Fox 2 Made Its Debut On The SNES Classic Console Five Years Ago

VR32X

I wanted StarFox 2 so bad since I first saw it in Nintendo Power as a kid. When the SNES Classic launched, I was in line for hours, sitting on the floor and chatting with other Nintendo fans. I had my nerdy girlfriend chilling with me to get one herself, and I was doodling Link on my 3DS Colors! 3D game. It was a long wait but a fun evening. I unlocked StarFox 2 right away when I got home, and the experience was bittersweet. I was glad to finally be able to play it, and I was having fun, but quickly saw why it was shelved. I kept my SNES Classic mint for 5 years as well, but I was dying to play games like Killer Instinct and Secret of Evermore on it. So. I hacked it, finally. And I scroll past StarFox 2 without even thinking now.

Re: Fired Nintendo Worker Comes Forward With An Account Of Their Dismissal

VR32X

I ask myself… why is this person sharing anything on Twitter about what they’re working on, or asking Doug Bowser such questions? I thought this was a game testing position, not a news reporter position. Adhere to the contracts, just do your job as you’re told, especially if you know you’re expendable. The professional world isn’t pretty or easy, but in order to survive in it… one must be professional.

A loaded question about unions in a forum? He’s not gonna answer that. Not to you. And not where it can be screenshot and put on Twitter, along with your leaked gameplay footage. Probably had him seeing as red as your footage. Once Nintendo has Virtual Boy vision on you, you’re toast. Probably.

Re: Best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Games On Nintendo Systems

VR32X

I’m surprised the GB games are higher up than Smash-Up, Danger of the Ooze, or some the GCN titles. NES and Sega Tournament Fighters are quite unenjoyable for me. The SNES one is perfection though, especially if you have a move list or manual on hand. I’d rate the debut NES game much higher. Thats just me though.

Re: Talking Point: How Were You Introduced To Metroid?

VR32X

The things we take for granted today. Metroid (NES) blew my mind with the very fact you had to go left first and get the morph ball in order to progress. I was stuck on the game for days until my babysitter showed me what to do. I only knew Super Mario Bros. at that time, and you never went backward. Metroid was one of my first gaming experiences at 4 years old. Of course that stumbling block was overcome and I played and rented lots of games that offered exploration.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Castlevania: Circle Of The Moon

VR32X

I’d normally pick Japan for the extra detail, but at first glance from a visual design perspective… its too busy with clashing elements. The American box is easier on the eyes, and Nathan pops right out at you. This was also my first GBA game, and I have fond memories of playing it way too much in high school. I 100% it several times over and almost had my main profile at level 99. Until my stepbrother deleted my file to #%^* me off.

Re: Asmodee Pulls eShop Release 'Pandemic' & Ends Switch Online Multiplayer In Catan

VR32X

I literally just bought two copies of Catan for my wife and I to play online against each other. Its her favorite board game.

Edit: I contacted Asmodee Digital on their website about Catan, politely requesting an implementation of a local ad-hoc mode. Maybe if enough Catan players chime in, they can at least update the game for all of us local players.

Re: Soapbox: Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie Is Still One Of The Greatest Adaptations Ever

VR32X

I love this film. My gateway drug may have been Vampire Hunter D on Sci-Fi channel, and seeing stuff like Fatal Fury, Tank Police, Bubblegum Crisis, Cyber City and Ninja Scroll. My best friend in elementary school would get all these on VHS, and I’d watch them at his house. I was watching this stuff as early as 3rd or 4th grade. I didn’t discover Dragon Ball until 5th grade, and it was the original series, very early in the morning on an antenna TV channel before school. Now in my late thirties, this is still the kind of anime I prefer. Better drawn, violent, gratuitous, rock n’ roll and insane. I can watch stuff like this, Kawajiri Madhouse films, and Riding Bean over and over. I was at a McKay’s in Tenn. a few years back, and picked up a copy of the Street Fighter 2 anime, and I ran into somebody and had a full conversation about it. He turned out to be a pretty cool friend and gentleman. I think psychologically, when theres sexy scenes, it gets your heart rate up and your mind a little fevered, and then once the ultra-violence crashes in you’re emotionally in a frenzy and engaged. When its all over, you’re like “what the Hell did I just watch?” It takes you to that core, carnal center of your mortal being, the barbarism where you feel truly alive, and you’re taken far from the unnatural whim of society and being socially acceptable. You’re in a place where right and wrong is blurred, in you are in a state of hot blooded rock n’ roll. Great article.

Re: Ubisoft Closing Online Services For Three Wii U Titles This September

VR32X

I’m just here wishing Blacklist was on Switch. I greatly supported Ubisoft during the Wii U era. I loved most of those games, but it makes sense to shut em down now. I loved ZombiU and got the best ending, one time, in a single weekend. I can’t imagine playing it without the Gamepad… but It would be good on Switch, or as a VR game on another system.

Re: Feature: Games That Got Us Through Tough Times

VR32X

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U when I first got out of the military medically, eaten up with depression and some forms of PTSD. Landed in a small town with no friends, and I was withdrawn and a recluse. I didn’t work or drive for a time. I withdrew from Facebook, being hurt from relationships and friends from the military who turned out to not actually be my friends. I bought a Wii U at launch because it was literally the only thing I had to be excited about at the time. I was very suicidal at this time. Keeping a noose in my closet and staying in bed most days having dreams about suicide. I would walk to a coffee house to escape it all. I met a guy, who was into gaming and metal briefly, and he suggested MH to me. He taught me how to play the game and understand it, since it had a steep learning curve. I’m not sure whatever happened to him. We only hung out a few times. But at night alone, MH3U was my first online video game where I chatted vocally and I ended up making online friends, it was also my first Monster Hunter. I got it on 3DS as well, and met a group of nerds at a coffee place. I would go and drink coffee there to be alone and play on my 3DS. I’d look over at them with their laptops up and the 3DS’s out. Then one of the guys approached me and saw I had Monster Hunter. I joined their table. I’ve been friends with all of them for years now. Nintendo and MH kind of was therapy to me. Sometimes a little too much. But video games helped me disconnect at somethings and become reconnected to others. Now I work full-time at my town’s newspaper, I’m married, and I do so much freelance art and met so many new people. I barely have time to play games. I may actually have to quit a job I really like to go to college. I thank God for helping me come across that one person one night that suggested Monster Hunter to me. Wherever that one friend is, I hope he’s well. I made many more thanks to him.

Re: Mini Review: Waifu Impact - Single-Player 'Fortnite With Fan Service', Minus The Fun

VR32X

To anybody who cares. Waifu Impact had an update. You can now unlock Rika by splashing 30 waifus. I noticed a few other slight improvements, especially with enemy AI, and the homing on Kagura’s weapon. The enemies in the arena seem more active too. You used to also be able to glitch the art gallery and see certain Rika art, but that has now been fixed it seems.

Re: Mini Review: Waifu Impact - Single-Player 'Fortnite With Fan Service', Minus The Fun

VR32X

I caved and bought this since it was so cheap and silly. Also, wanna add, you can’t unlock the last character until they patch the game. The one you get by getting a 69 combo on the main island. Lol. And, if you use Yukina, or unlock her right at first, her gun one shots. If you keep her on the edges of the island in the arena, the waifus that drop won’t notice you, making all the waves a breeze. The “bosses” are easy given you keep your distance and strafe. I got off work yesterday at 5 p.m., and pretty much beat this game in 5 hours or less. It was a fun little distraction.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th April (North America)

VR32X

Just trying to save money for what I really want, and enjoy what I have. My time is very limited lately. I’m worried I won’t really get to relax and enjoy Sunbreak with my friends. I’m hoping Xenoblade 3 doesn’t have missable preorder DLC, because I want to refrain from a lot of purchases this year. I’m kinda frustrated that Capcom Fighting Collection is gonna have missable stuff.
