Re: Poll: Have You Played The Dragon Quest XI S Demo On Nintendo Switch Yet?

VR32X

A friend that works at GameStop gave me his manager code for DQXI on PS4, so I have it for free on that system. It was a long time ago, but the gesture of kindness was incredible. If I did get it on Switch, I’d have to wait on a sale, and it would be to play it in 16-bit. I’m trying the demo to see how it runs in comparison, and to of course get the Smash spirit.

Re: Reminder: Two More NES Games Hit The Switch, Plus Another Special Version Of Gradius

VR32X

@Zacattack99 Good list, I own quite a bit of those on Wii U and 3DS. I actually bought a lot of Virtual Console and enjoyed all those games, like Earthbound Beginnings, ‘92 Recca, and Mysterious Murasame Castle. No reason those games can’t be on the service. I’m sure the 3rd party stuff is just silliness like Square Enix thinking, “if we give them Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior, they won’t buy the remastered mobile phone versions.” For example.

Re: VS. Gradius Joins Hamster's Arcade Archives Series On Switch eShop

VR32X

This is cool... but I got it on the NES Service and I have the arcade version on the Konami Arcade Anniversary Collection. I also have the TurboGraffix-16 version on my Wii U, and I have the NES version on my 3DS Virtual Console. I mean, I love me some Gradius, obviously... but this VS. port is gonna be a tough sell for even guys like me.

Still kinda mad the SNES Classic Edition didn’t have Gradius 3 or Axelay. Just gonna be that guy, while we’re here on the subject. Lol

Re: Two More NES Games Join The Nintendo Switch Online Service In August

VR32X

I rented Kung Fu Heroes when I was a kid. I remember getting far and it glitching or never ending. Hopefully they add the Ninja Boy RPG games. I have that release on Wii U Virtual Console. I used to rent the SNES Super Ninja Boy when I was little... loved it.

Well. I know a lot of games that should be on the service. First party with no hang ups are as easy and obvious as Earthbound Beginnings, Zoda’s Revenge and Yoshi’s Cookie. But hey, what do I know?

Re: Check Out The New Features In The Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 4.0 Update

VR32X

It’s all neat stuff, but I’m a casual player of this series. When I turn the game on, I just play for fun. I haven’t even finished my first level in the stage creator, I rarely bother with online and tournaments... I miss most spirit events. I’m a huge Dragon Quest fan, as I grew up playing the original Dragon Warrior with my dad. My name is Jeremy, and when I play more serious RPGs or games like Monster Hunter, I name my character Jerdrick. As silly as it sounds, I personally love it. So now I’ll be Jerdrick playing as Erdrick, and I can’t wait to try out The Hero.

Also, that recent VR update was really neat. I still try that time to time too.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Mod Adds Skyward Sword's Earth Temple Dungeon

VR32X

@Mr_Persona I kinda feel like the idea of it is overwhelming, but it would be a monstrous thing if it ever released. Maybe they’ll give it to us in small dosages. Like there should be player made shrines and dungeons that pop up in certain places, that refresh in BotW 2. Nothing too over-the-top or mandatory, but a neat touch. I’m sure whatever we get will be great though.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Mod Adds Skyward Sword's Earth Temple Dungeon

VR32X

It makes me think there should be a Zelda Dungeon Maker, with classic Zelda and 3D Zelda as options. You could get it off the shelf with NES Zelda, A Link to the Past, and Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask assets, then maybe some good DLC that offers classic Link’s Awakening, Link Between Worlds/New Link’s Awakening, and a Breath of the Wild pack. Of course maybe gently blend in stuff from Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword into BotW and OoT, so there aren’t too many choices and each game yield an original experience. Maybe give Wind Waker and the GBA and DS games their own pack... but its starting to be too much. Lol. But that would be a wild Zelda Maker. That combined with Mario Maker, just sell your legs and your other systems. You won’t need them. I guess its only a matter of time and they’re experimenting with this on the new Link’s Awakening. It was an actual consideration in the first Zelda. So yeah. Its just a matter of time. Hopefully before I’m in my 40s. I’m with you NLife. BotW 2 needs real dungeons. I’d have loved exploring BoTW to stumble into a well hidden “Great Palace,” featuring fresh new enemies lying in wait, and the hookshot as my reward. Then maybe an actual water temple that rises from one of those dead villages after Link plays a recorder, to finally earn Iron Boots to explore all the underwater places and grab fish from the whole game. So many things BotW was missing, but I still loved it. Still did everything, maxed all my gear and slots, Master Cycle, beat all the bosses and got medallions. I guess I was hoping to find these places I mentioned after beating all the shrines.

Re: Nintendo's Lead Localisation Producer Leaves The Treehouse After "10 Incredible Years"

VR32X

@Tamara Thanks for posting. That seems sensible enough to leave Nintendo. It stinks he couldn’t move to that position within the company, but he’s got an A+ reference and portfolio for sure now. Hope it works out for him. That’d be like me. I love being an artist and graphic designer, and lets say I’m working at a great newspaper... not as the artist or designer. Albeit fortunate and enjoying the job, there may be more fun to be had elsewhere.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #1 - Super Metroid

VR32X

Japan. While the North American one has more of a graphic design punch, the unedited artwork of the Japanese one is beautiful. I love the menacing Kraid in the background, all the extra detail, and less saturated colors.

Re: Free Joy-Con Drift Repairs Extended To Latin America

VR32X

So any controllers being mailed out... are they actually coming back fixed? I’m thinking of sending all four of mine in. But I’ll have to be docked with my Pro Controller until they get back.

And if I mail these things, I don’t wanna have to do it again and again.

Re: Fire Emblem Voice Actor Gets Credit Removed Following Admissions Of Abuse

VR32X

What levels of abuse? We all do bad things or can be hard to work with at times. But the work was done and at least he’s apologizing. Unless it was jail time sorta bad. There are people very close to me who have autism and Aspergers, and I don’t know if thats a good crutch. I mean, do you have to achieve a Jesus status of being a goodie two shoes to do any sort of work for Nintendo? And, putting it on Twitter... I don’t know if I’d have gone that route... but to each their own.

Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Can Delete Your Glitched Courses, Even If You Don't Upload Them

VR32X

@EarthboundBenjy No prob. You might enjoy my De”Boo”ing Mario’s Picross level, where you have to equip the hammer and go inside a haunted Game Boy to thoroughly swat Boos.

I actually ran into a key glitch making this level, where I used so many that beating Pom Pom wouldn’t drop the one needed, even though she was set to. So I had to redesign some parts.

SBJ-9C0-VYG

That is if you feel like it or get the time. I know how taxing it can be to try everybody’s levels when you just wanna enjoy the game. Especially ones like mine where you can’t just run through it without searching or having trial and error.

Re: Soapbox: Sorry Nintendo, Joy-Con Drift Means I Won't Buy Switch Lite At Launch

VR32X

To be fair, the system hasn’t been released yet. Maybe the controls have been fixed. I’ve never had a problem with my original 3DS, the XL, or the New XL. I only upgraded those, once the first time for the screen size, and the second time for the nicer specs (Xenoblade, amiibo, etc.) I now regret every upgrade... I should have stuck with my launch one. I took great care of it and now I miss a small 3DS. Only had a problem with my Wii U Gamepad twice. First the touchscreen was messed up, but I blame a power surge and not Nintendo. It was storming and we had an outage while I was using it plugged up. The second time is with the right stick. Which I haven’t had the chance to fix since Nintendo wants over $100. I’ll repair it myself someday I suppose. The joy-cons are the only things that have given me legitimate trouble. All my game controllers throughout my whole life get a little worn, but stayed functional. Except my NES Advantage. Had that since I was 4 and I beat almost every game imaginable on it. That thing bit the dust before I was a teenager. Lol. But yeah. These joy cons are really a problem. And whats crazy is the drifting stops sometimes, and I can play in peace, but will come back full force at the worst times. Like playing split screen Mario Kart and it goes nuts on your little brother when he’s down visiting you, causing him to lose and cry.

Re: Nintendo Releases Statement About Switch Joy-Con Drift Issue

VR32X

There is somebody on here giving EVERYBODY a thumbs a down, even the top comments that are CORRECT in every way. Facts not opinions. The joy cons drift. This person either can’t stand the idea that Nintendo made a flawed product and people tell the truth about it, or has MAGIC DRIFTLESS JOYCONS. And is holding out on us!

Re: Shovel Knight's Board Game Kickstarter Has Been Cancelled, Relaunching Mid August

VR32X

Long live Shovel Knight. I do love Shovel Knight. I do like board games from time to time. I just want his final expansions and amiibo though. I need to go back and comb through the game again, and I’ve played it a good bit on each Nintendo system, 3DS the most... I don’t know if I could swing that asking price they were wanting. So its probably good they went through Kickstarter and decided to make changes. Alas, I’ve given Yacht Club my money 3 times, no, 4 times over. Wake me when theres a Shovel Knight 2, animated film, or that DLC ever finally drops.

Re: Pearl And Team Chaos Win The Final Splatoon 2 Splatfest

VR32X

@Iacobus I’m almost 34. I just love that genre. I’m always dropping hints on here hoping to spark conversation. And for some strange reason the music video with them putting on a show in the middle of traffic, with all the cars exploding went into my head this time around.

Pearl is like a little Doro. Lol

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Switch Patch Comes With Some Unwelcome Extras

VR32X

I really wanted this on Switch. I could have bought it on PS4 but I may just wait for several patches and a sale now. I really wanted to play this on the go due to its Metroid nature. I also want all the effects and the superior experience of the PS4 Pro. So I’m still torn, but how mishandled the Switch version was really doesn’t help. I try to support Nintendo and Nintendo versions of everything. Remembering the Wii U era, I would have easily gotten this on that system to make a statement and show support. Switch doesn’t seem to have a problem maintaining 3rd party support... but memories of the Wii U era make me really hate it when a game like this is mishandled to the point that you want it on another system.

Re: Nintendo Inexplicably Deletes Popular Mario Maker Streamer's Level

VR32X

Because somebody reports them. And somebody at Nintendo listens. And it is because its called Poo. Just because he reuploaded the levels, doesn’t change that. Somebody hasn’t reported them yet. The maybe one or few people who did got their kicks, moved on, and forgot about him OR a different set of eyes at Nintendo decided not to take them down a second time. I feel his pain. I get it. I’ve had a level taken down on the Wii U version because nobody starred it, and it was a grand Metroidvania level that I sank over 20 hours into making. People are stingy with their stars and don’t even bother trying to beat a well thought out level. I star levels that I don’t even think are great, but if they’re remotely enjoyable and I can tell they put some thought into it, I know it helps that player. If I can beat it and give it a star, thats a lot for the Mario Maker community. But getting back on topic. Really little kids also play this game. A 4 year old might have played “Pile of Poo,” and his mom walked in. She might have been so offended and dropped her paperback romance novel, her Mary Kay brochures, and ripped that controller from his hand and hit report! Her husband, Ned Flanders was even more furious because he couldn’t beat the level! Now I mean; I don’t find it offensive. Quite funny actually. But you gotta think of the people that do. I would move away from the Poo subject. Be like me, VR32X, a proud Virtual Boy owner who mixed his name with Sega 32X. It clearly shows my style and tastes. Many people get jealous of my unique handle, but 30 Helens agree that it means I don’t have many friends, or much of a life.

Re: Resident Evil 5 And 6 Shamble To Switch This October

VR32X

I invested way too much time with these games. I actually got the platinum trophy on RE6 with a friend, who adored that game. Me? I never want to play it again. I played the devil out of RE4 on PS2 and then Wii. I wouldn’t mind having RE4 physically, but I’ll wait until I find it used without the download codes. Thats if I casually find it, and not be on the hunt. I love buying Capcom games on my Switch, don’t get me wrong, I have Dragons Dogma (playing right now, 150 hours in!) and Okami both, as examples, and both acquired for reasonable prices. All the Mega Man games, which seemed nicely handled enough. But RE Revelations 1&2? Revelations 2 has terrible bugs that they never NEVER patched. None of my amiibo work on the game anymore, at all. Whenever I trade BP for gold in-game; I get incorrect amounts. Its been harder for me to get the endgame stuff out of Raid Mode. And, sometimes Barry’s head doesn’t load right, or his body won’t load at all. It looks like he is wearing a kippah. Which, between that, the game withholding gold from amiibo (trust me it DOES NOT work anymore. At all.) and BP exchanges being useless too... it makes me think somebody at Capcom is antisemitic. (I’m kidding.) You don’t want that, do you Capcom? You’ll fix your RE Switch games you’ve already got out before you pump out more? No? Of course you aren’t! Thats why VR32X isn’t gonna buy 4 new, and definitely not get 5 and 6. No motion controls either. Heres another bit of craziness. Joycons work just fine with motion controls... but my OFFICIAL Splatoon 2 Pro Controller that I preordered and use regularly in Splatoon 2 and other big games, BECAUSE of MOTION CONTROLS... DOES NOT USE MOTION CONTROLS on the Revelations games!!! When playing docked, I have to quit using my favorite controller, and use the joycons if I want motion controls. Some of you guys might think... man, I complain too much. But really. Capcom should take more pride in these games that pay their bills, that their fans double dip on. Its called attention to detail. We threw that term around in the AF a lot. Now it haunts me when I buy games. Resident Evil games especially! I don’t want any more half baked, cash grab RE ports on my Switch. I’ve had my experience. I have RE7 and the RE2 remake on my PS4. Those are masterpieces. So that tells me they are choosing when to care, and when not to. And I feel the Nintendo customer base isn’t getting the same respect. For some of you guys that are Nintendo only, you might find RE5 and RE6 enjoyable, but I guarantee you, based on my experience, that they might come with issues which will NEVER be fixed.
