Update [Mon 18th Apr, 17:15 BST]: To go along with the Korean rating for Sonic Origins, key art for the game has been uncovered, adding further fuel to the speculation that SEGA may be sharing more details on its release very soon.

Original Story [Mon 18th Apr, 12:55 BST]

Sonic Origins was announced quite a while back during the 'Sonic Central' stream in May 2021. Nothing has since been mentioned regarding the upcoming collection, but it seems it may be on the way sooner than we think thanks to a recent rating in South Korea.

As reported by VGC, the Korean ratings board has classified the game for "all users" (no surprise there), but the very mention of the game is noteworthy since we haven't seen neither hide nor hair of it for nearly a year at the time of writing.

The game will be a compilation of the so-called "classic" Sonic games, including:

Rather than 'vanilla' emulations, the games included will apparently be completely new ports, allowing for 16:9 widescreen views and other fancy bits and bobs.

Hopefully we'll hear more from SEGA directly regarding the upcoming game soon.

Will you be grabbing Sonic Origins when it eventually launches? How many times have you owned the classic Sonic games? Be honest and let us know!
