It's amazing how the Switch inspires so many peripherals and accessories. Very unprecedented for a traditional gaming console or even a dedicated handheld console.
Awesome game. Very addicting and I love how the game opens up little by little so you don't get overwhelmed with all the different things you can do in the hub area.
Exceeded my expectations and will be looking out for future games in the franchise!
Yup, I'm kinda in the same boat. Beat both Revelation games but got the bad ending in Revelations 2 and didn't play the dlc scenarios.
But with gyro aiming and a $19.99 price tag, I think that'd get me to dive in again. Besides, the Raid mode in Revelations 2 was probably one of the best Resident Evil extra modes I've ever played.
Agreed, at least in the Switch's case. Not to get too nerdy but for games, the Switch uses 3GB of RAM and Xbox One uses 5GB of RAM. Xbox One performs at 1.3 teraflops and the Switch performs at 1 teraflop. So I'm inclined to believe its performance is marginally close to an Xbox One, definitely more than half.
There is really no point to a 3DS successor. How powerful would it really be? It would be asinine to have a dedicated handheld 3DS successor that is more powerful than the Switch, especially if it wouldn't have the ability to play on a TV.
The Switch is a portable powerhouse that's more powerful than a Wii U. It is more versatile than a limited dedicated handheld.
2 screen gameplay was never a necessity just a minor convenience most of the time. I think the idea of a dedicated handheld successor is pointless.
Can't wait for the second season! I just finished watching the first season last night. Whether you like action anime or Castlevania, I highly recommend it.
I believe the same director is doing an Assassin's Creed anime as well. Looking forward to that too!
Haven't beaten the game yet but from what I've seen it's occasional Titan mode (Eryn). Maybe after the game's beaten it might have a Titan mode. Being a Titan is fun but I prefer using the traditional omni-directional mobility gear with the blades.
After seeing Berserk, Attack on Titan, and the first Dragon Quest Heroes go one player tis' referesshing to see that Fire Emblem Warriors will go co-op! I wonder, however, if the game will allow for 2 Switches to connect for local ad-hoc co-op? Simulating a Hyrule Warriors Wii U experience where one player was on the TV and the other was on the gamepad
Wow, sounds like you already worked out a Plan B! Eh, sounds doable. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that Crapcom comes through with a localisation. Hopefully, the menu item text in XX is bigger than the text from Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U.
I may consider an import after all. Time will tell.
I agree and share your enthusiasm as a Switch owner. I am a bit bummed about the Monster Hunter ordeal as I'm not looking forward to a Japanese import for XX and Hunter World seems to be skipping the Switch. I have no idea what the hell Capcom is thinking!
Hopefully the sales of the Switch will encourage an XX localization or port of World in the future.
Don't be so sure we'll never see SS's 1:1 combat again in a Zelda game. Here's what Aunoma said recently regarding HD rumble when asked about Zelda's future in an interview:
Force feedback is something I am keeping in the back of my head. I want the users to feel that immediate reaction and with HD rumble, we’re able to do that with a further in-depth experience. In Skyward Sword when you’re swinging your sword, whether you’re attacking a hard-shelled enemy and have a little bit of resistance, or cutting through something really easily, those kinds of differences in attacks, you will be able to create them with HD rumble. In the future it is something I would definitely like to visit.
Dear Sega - no one wants to play Golden Axe or Panzer Dragoon on a friggin' smart phone. Port your entire catalog to Switch and then work your way backwards - you numbskulls.
Yup, Prime 4 should have a third person view and/or mechanics to compliment the 1st person viewpoint. Plenty of 3rd person shooters let you play in a 1st person perspective so I don't think it's impossible to do.
I'd assume so. Smash on Wii U and Kart 8 DX on Switch provided me with seamless experiences online (so far). I expect Xenoverse 2 to follow suit. Just as long as it doesn't perform as bad as Budokai Tenkaichi 3's online experience for the Wii, I'll be satisfied.
No prob. Yeah, the Galaxy games were just really solid, top-notch 3D Marios. But 3D World and Mario Bros. U are games I go back to most in the series. Here's the full text from Odyssey's producer regarding multiplayer possibilities (before this article's video was posted).
When asked about multiplayer and online support, Koizumi stated: "The first thing I want to say about multiplayer is that since this is the Nintendo Switch, and it does have two controllers, it's very easy for you to imagine handing one to another person. So there probably is some...thing you'll hear about multiplayer. The timing is not quite there, so I hope you're able to wait for a little longer to hear about that."
"As for Network features," Koizumi continued, "since this is something the hardware is capable of, there might be something that you'll hear about there as well, and we hope you'll look forward to it."
I know I'm buying Odyssey on day 1 but this might not be for you.
Mario 64 was great at the time but it is most certainly a relic when compared against the Galaxy games and Mario 3D World (personal favorite). I feel Sunshine was just "okay" as well (worst 3D Mario imo).
The producer of Odyssey did hint at using a network feature for mulitplayer earlier so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that player 2 being the cap ain't the only option once this game launches.
This reminds me of the co-op that's offered in Mario Galaxy (and Blaster Master Zero) where player 2 gets to point and shoot at enemies (lame). But I'm sorry, this news is a bit of a bummer. On YouTube, you can find game footage of hackers successfully making Mario Galaxy 2 split screen with Mario and Luigi.
At the very least Nintendo should offer ad-hoc, local co-op feat. Mario and Luigi using 2 Switches. Surely if hackers can do it with Mario Galaxy 2, Ninty can do it with Odyssey.
I don't see this a threat to Nintendo's business. First of all, it requires a strong internet connection which means streamed PCs games will primarily be streamed when gamers are at home or a spot with a WiFi connection. Also your PC still has to be on when you connect to the net with the Switch in order to play PC games. Too many moving parts.
The same games sold in the Eshop will have more value because of their versatility and non-reliance on a strong internet connection to play them anywhere.
Admittedly, I don't always agree with some of your posts but on Metroid I think we share some common ground. While I'm totally optimistic about the Metroid news released today and excited to play a remake of the only Metroid I didn't beat, I'm really hoping Prime 4 has a 3rd person view and takes some elements from Other M (evasion mechanics, close quarter finishers).
I liked Other M a lot and believe 1st person only Metroids are limited. Here's hoping that this new dev team will bring these features to Prime 4!
It's Nintendo's job to sell the Switch as a home console you can take with you on the go. But it's third parties job to sell their games. When a third party sells franchise games across multiple devices/consoles it's smart to play up the unique features of the device that'll play their game. Switch's portability is a huge bonus feature no other home console can offer at the moment. Switch owners already know they can play the game on the TV.
Regardless. The game isn't an upscaled Xbox 360/PS3 port. It's custom made for the Switch hardware which frankly is the kind of effort Nintendo fans have been asking of 3rd party publishers. Equal parity with PS4/Xbone will not happen for most games but will be for "some".
Not a huge fan of EA but I can't hate on them for this offering.
Well, quite frankly it is a FIFA experience you can take with you on the go and it looks like it handles that admirably. Obviously, when it comes to these sports game franchises that have fan bases on other platforms, those that buy the Switch version will favor portability as a main (if not the main) priority. If you only care to play the most graphic intensive, stationary exclusive version of FIFA, than the Switch version won't be for you.
Lol, I'm actually the opposite. I'm intrigued by the motion controls, but I really hate the Champions Tunic. It will never replace the iconic green hat and tunic imo.
Wow, when Skyrim for Switch was first revealed I was like, "That's great, but I've already beaten it for Xbox 360".
But now that motion controls, gyro aiming and DLC (which I didn't playthrough) are included, I'm gonna have to double dip. I always believed the Wii remote/nunchuck (joy-con split) is a more comfortable way to play games that feature sword and shield combos (as well as 1st/3rd person shooters).
I'm really glad they got rid of the download one game a month for free then lose it the next month option. Ongoing access as long as you have a subscription is a step in the right direction.
I'm confident the subscription access games will be downloadable onto the Switch permitted via a license granted with a paid subscription. And I'm sure Virtual Console is still coming. That is a no brainer.
Never bought the Xenoverse games on other consoles and since I was a big fan of the motion controls implemented for Tenkaichi 3 = this'll be a day one purchase!
Glad to see people bring up Battalion Wars! Yup, I'd love to see it. Maybe get some 2-player co-op campaign going with 2 Switches but, just make another one!
Not everybody thought Zero was terrible - mostly those that sucked at the game. Star Fox is a niche franchise to begin with so it shouldn't be a surprise that it didn't sell millions on a console that had an install base of 13 million.
I'd prefer they make a sequel to Zero on Switch but a Zero port using a single screen is not a big idea.
I hear ya but there's never been a console as versatile as the Switch. The Wii had a lot of accessories too, thanks to the versatile Wii remote. But Switch as a console with detachable controllers is on a whole new level. I bought a Pro controller, extra pair of Joy-cons, 200 GB memory card, charge grip, travel case, and portable battery. All worth it!
Thanks, man. I might do just that. I bought a pair of red Joy-cons and they never gave me an issue. But the original left gray Joy-con has caused countless deaths. Glad to here their customer service is on point with repairs.
That's unfortunate. I maybe in the minority here but I like the joy-cons in the grip better than the pro controller. Buttons on that thing are too big and the analog too tall.
But too each their own. Admittedly, I've had desyncing issues this weekend actually with Shovel Knight. I may try putting foam in the controller.
Seems a bit pricey but dlc is always optional so it's up to the consumer. I didn't by any for Awakening or Fates and felt they were packed enough in their standalone forms.
However, if they remade Radiant Dawn and Path of Radiance for the Switch (together) and made some exclusive DLC for that, some which feature Greil during his time in Daein then I think I'd splurge for that!
You're not alone. The fact that an enhanced port has sold this great on day one speaks volumes. It's amazing to see what a portable option can do for a game that was previously exclusively locked to a home console.

Re: Fire Emblem Echoes Developers on How the Game Iterates on Fire Emblem Fates

Agree completely. I've beaten every FE that's been released in the states and POR and RD are the best in the series still!
However, Echoes is my favorite handheld FE despite the fact axe wielding playable characters are omitted.

Some news about 2018's Fire Emblem for the Switch. And maybe a Metroid surprise (and please God do not make it a 1st person view exclusive)
