Re: Reaction: What are Your Thoughts on Nintendo Switch Online?

Turbo857

@thesilverbrick

I agree. I've bought Punch-Out, Super Punch-Out, and Wii Punch-Out every time it's digitally available. I wish these purchases followed me after hardware upgrades. I like the idea of a Netflix way to play my games but there should be a way to permanently "own" the games.

Re: Feature: Which Retro Classics Do You Want To See Come To Sega AGES On Switch?

Absolutely love it when someone brings up the Shining Force 3 trilogy! I lean more toward preferring to see a remake of these games then a straight port but this is one of those cases where beggers can't be choosers.

And that Shining Force Central English script for 2 & 3 is awesome! Sega should just buy the script from those guys instead of using their own teams.

Right on and I second that! Dragon Force games are essential for strategy RPG fans. I rank them among the best SRPGs ever created.

And that's not a biased opinion simply because I managed the English fan translation of Dragon Force 2 back in 2015. In the event anyone happens to own a Japanese DF2 disc and Sega never manages to bring an English version of DF2 to their Sega Ages brand: grab the patch from here: http://www.verve-fanworks.com/dragonforceii.html

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Confirms He's Working On Super Smash Bros. Switch

Turbo857

@Seacliff

I'm sure it won't be branded as a port. You can't call the game Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS DX (that would be absurd).

It'll be branded as a new game, probably something boring like, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch. Personally they should go with a progressive name after Melee, Brawl. Maybe Battle Royal, Skirmish, or Mayhem.

But the content will likely use all previous Wii U/3DS stages, previous DLC, and only handful of new characters/stages. When you put that together, there's your new game (and enhanced port at the same time). Covers all bases.

Re: WWE 2K18 Gets An Update On Switch, But Can It Fix Its Problems?

Turbo857

@thesilverbrick

Well said. Assassin's Creed Unity was an unfortunate casualty of review spitefulness at launch. It deserved to have its review scores updated after it was patched and expanded with a free DLC campaign. It's currently my favorite game in the series even as I play through Origins (awesome game too).

Re: Poll: Surprise! A New Zelda Is In Development, But What Do You Want From It?

Turbo857

Scale: Open world should be the format going forward. Add underwater exploration (good one @KimBread), new items. Ability to buy upgradable weapons, shields, bows in shops. Weapons can still be breakable but with the added ability to reforge, upgrade'em, or use potions to replenish durability.

Dungeons: A mix of shrines/caves and return to full length dungeons with keys, minibosses, and "optional (not necessary to beat the game, but opens special mechanics)" dungeon specific item. Bosses should introduce more variety outside forms of Ganon. Bring back a Gleeok or Aquamentus.

Combat: Skyward Sword/shield based motion controlled, 1:1 combat (right analog stick, manual-directional striking for the non-motion inclined).

Enemies: Give us some Darknuts, Iron Knuckles. Should be a group of them hunting Link like the Yiga clan but more aggressive. Sword and shield wielding Stalfos (not weak, lame Stal variations of Bokoblins, Mobins, and Lizafos).

Transportation: Horse back riding Zeldas are always the best so horses are a no brainer. But I'd like to see some flying mounts (bird, dragon). Maybe the ability to use a hookshot to grab flying mounts from the ground or sky. Rafts and homemade tree chopping rafts are still great. But sailing with a full fledged ship would be great as well.

Re: Review: ACORN Tactics (Switch eShop)

@Iacobus

Agreed. Days of Ruin also had that weird commander can hop into a vehicle mechanic where he can be destroyed, but still alive to hop in another. It was a good game but Dual Strike is the best in the series to me.

Re: Review: WWE 2K18 (Switch)

@Angelic_Lapras_King

That's admirable that the Eshop is handing out refunds. 2K games needs to do the right thing. Either take the game off shelves and Eshop or provide the most ambitious patch gaming has every seen ASAP. But really, they should be ashamed of themselves for having the audacity to release such a PPP (piss- poor-port)

Re: Review: WWE 2K18 (Switch)

Turbo857

@JamesR

Too true. Pre-patch Assassin's Creed Unity is much better than WWE 2K18 for Switch. 2kgames has the nerve to charge 30+ for the expansion pack for this garbage!

At least Ubisoft gave us free DLC and patched the bugs. 2K games should hand out refunds!

Re: Talking Point: The Case for Super Mario Odyssey as the Greatest Mario Game

Turbo857

@1UP_MARIO

Time will tell. I've beaten Ocarina of Time more times than Twilight Princess and Botw but I still think Ocarina is the inferior game.

If people don't replay Odyssey as much as 64, I'd say it'd come down to lack of free time mixed with too many games available rather than game quality. When Mario 64 came out, there were arguably more game droughts than we deal with now. So with less quality games coming out, we had more time to replay great ones.

Re: Reggie on GameCube Controller Support on the Switch

Turbo857

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Reggie's answer was PR BS. I'm pretty confident that Nintendo knew the update would enable Wii U Gamecube adapter functionality (or at least planned to enable this functionality eventually with the impending Switch version of Smash Bros).

I'd go as far as assume that this was the main motivation with the Switch dock to be designed with 2 USB ports in close proximity in the first place. Especially considering external hard drive compatibility is still iffy at this point.

Re: Review: Ninja Shodown (Switch eShop)

Turbo857

@retro_player_22

Not really beat'em up since deaths are all one hit whether it's your characters or the enemy.

Picture 2D-arcade Shinobi + speed up the gameplay + keep all the action on one screen that doesn't scroll + 4 player co-op + make the sword the primary weapon = Ninja Showdown. I don't think it's a bad game, just too much $ for what's offered.

Re: Review: Ninja Shodown (Switch eShop)

Turbo857

That's my biggest complaint... the price. Deaths are one hit and action takes place on a single screen. It's not a bad game per se but when you realize you paid $15 for Ninja Showdown when Wulverblade and Axiom Verge cost $5 more at $20, you feel like money's been wasted.

Ninja Showdown feels like a mobile phone game and shouldn't be priced any higher than $5. imo.
