Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in "late 2017".
The two games will be released in a special Resident Evil Revelations Collection double pack for $39.99, which contains Resident Evil Revelations on a game card and a download voucher for the second game. Both titles will also be available as digital downloads for $19.99 each.
The first Resident Evil Revelations launched on the 3DS way back in 2012, and was later released in HD on the Wii U and other consoles in 2013. The second release was released episodically in 2015, but skipped the Wii U.
While these aren't new Resident Evil titles, they'll be welcome all the same - especially as the second title has previously never been available on a Nintendo console.

This one game on card / one game download is a trend I'm worried about. Already saw it happen for FFX / FFX2 for Vita. I guess its due to space restrictions and cost of manifacturing double the cards.
Still, didn't stop SD Gundam G Generation on the Vita from being released in a snazzy twin case / twin card package.
Should have repeated what I said in the forums; bit disappointed its just ports including one game thats been ported like 3 times. Also Capcom please don't decide on all Mature games on the Switch based on this game's sales as I wonder of many are willing to double dip.
Also ensure deadzone issues from Wii U release is fixed.
I was sssoo excited until I found out the BS about having to download one of the games. To hell with that. I'd rather cough up the cash for a second (or a single, larger capacity) cartridge. The idiots at Capcom can't seem to do anything right.
If anything, I'd rather have the second game on the cartridge instead, seeing as many of us would already own the first game on Wii U and/or 3DS.
These games bored me to tears.
Bloody finally. Maybe I can finally give up my Capcom game ban for shafting us Nintendo fans of the second game for so many years.
pre-ordered!
OMG YESSSSSSS!!!!
Will buy the 2nd game but no physical version sucks
@Decapre why would you play the second one if you didn't like the first?
"Switch doesn't need lots of internal storage because the games are on cartridges..."
Are they?
Revelations comes home to Nintendo consoles Yay.
I never got to play the second one (even though I have an Xbox), but I will play it on Switch. Shame it's digital only.
Hopefully this leads to other Resi games on the Switch too.
I'll probably get this. I never played Revelations 2, but I played Revelations on 3DS. It was pretty good!
@Decapre Resi Evil games require you to put some imagination work in though. What's around the corner, what's not. If you're bored, you aren't playing them right...
Might grab these at some point as I've never played them.
Probably grab them digitally if they're doing the 1 game card/1 DL thing, plus you save 1 cent!
I've recently just played the first one on Wii U. I enjoyed it, harks back to the original games but without the tank controls. I do find the character gets in the way of a proper view of the screen with the over the shoulder view, just like in Resi 4, but other than that it's a great game. I might have to check out the sequel at some point.
I haven't played either of these so I may consider getting these granted that the reviews end up being positive. I recall hearing the first Revelations was decent but I dunno at all how the 2nd one turned out.
I feel like maybe some of the people complaining about the digital download aren't familiar with Raid mode? If it's a mode you enjoy you're likely going to be switching back and forth between both games a lot, so having them both as physical cards would be an absolute nightmare.
I'll probably buy the collection. I want to play the portable HD versions of these games. No physical for Rev 2 sucks, though.
If it is a collection, that means 2, one on a card and a download voucher for the second is kinda silly
Just give me the 3 original games on one card please
It's a start but hope they announce more titles soon.
I guess I'll get the collectors edition. Never played them and the price is fine for 2 games.
@A01
Do you want to play it or to own it ? Cause you don't "need" a cartridge to play it... dematerialised games work fine nowadays !
I loved both of these games so I'll be picking this up.
Great. Another must have.
@olrodlegacy Resident Evil games don't bore me, just Revelations.
@AcridSkull Trying to be optimistic...
Well I hope the sales on this collection prompt crapcom to port Resident Evil 7 as they had originally hinted at, plus give us another Nintendo exclusive RE title!
And people were optimistic,expecting Resi 7 to arrive for Switch. Seems the Nintendo fans will always be seen as an afterthought by Capcom. Still no localisation of MHXX which is what most Switch owners want from Capcom at this point. What the chances the upcoming Resi 2 remake will skip the Switch?
Its great capcom are bringing revelations1 and 2 to the nintendo switch and the pricing is very good considering. I really wanted 5 and 6 more to be honest.
@Tsurii And their inherent Switch memory space.
Never played either.
So honest question. Are they any good?
I really loved Resident Evil 2 (N64), Resident Evil (Gamecube, Wii), Resident Evil Zero (Gamecube, Wii), Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube, Wii), and both Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles (Wii).
Resident Evil Revelations (Wii U) didn't hook me, and part of it is because it felt kinda static and physics-lacking. Even though Resident Evil Revelations is the first full-HD RE game on a Nintendo console the graphics engine felt like a step down from the two generations older Resident Evil 4, understandably as the game is a 3DS port. I stopped somewhere in the middle, as it didn't grab me graphically or storywise. The nightmare mode is good fun though. It's totally what it says.
I haven't played RE Revelations 2 and it's a damn shame they couldn't put both on a single cartridge, because like everyone says, most Nintendo users already have Revelations 1 on Wii U or 3DS.
Capcom seems to forget to calculate in that RE Revelations was often on sale for 9,99 (and I think 4,99 once) on the Wii U eShop
and Revelations 2 was never on a Nintendo console, so at least
they should put RER2 on a cartridge, common sense would suggest.
I'm going to buy the two separately to save that 1 cent. It's about working smarter, people.
finally!!!! I played revelations on 3DS and loved it! cant wait to play this on the switch and get to play Revelations 2!!! happy to download both not bothered about the physical
Sweet! I'll definitely pick this up!
lol, Capcom strikes out again!
Are these any good??
Good stuff. More the merrier, even if I'm not bothered myself. Won't do the systems rep any harm to have a big name like Resi on board.
@sillygostly Many of you? Lmao how many copies this game sold im wondering
@Malanta I'm getting a bit tired of seeing users on here calling out and provoking other users. Consider this a warning.
Oh Booooh! Just two days after I decided to get part one on sale for the Wii U... :/ Now I'm never gonna play it there after all and wait for the Switch version... Oh well, in my mind I will just have to add this to the Switch price and consider if it's still worth it to me. Knowing me that will probably result in a "Heck, yeah!"
Wow that's a big surprise. But why wouldn't they put both games on a card?? Now all we need is 0,1,2,4,5,6 and maybe 7??
Does anyone know the file sizes of the 2 installments on WiiU (1) or PS4/Xbox (2)?
Rather have 0 and remake. I got bored with revelation 2 after episode 2.
@Octane
Of course you are - and it is just the one user - and I am not calling him out, I am mocking him, because he does the same thing EVERYTIME - and most people are fed up with it - he is constantly on the switch pages when he doesn't own or like a switch and puts down everything that comes out on it - why not warn him.
Whats the warning for - you gonna ban me next - I am shaking in my boots..... /sarcasm
Wait if only the first game is on the card and the 2nd a download code.... This would be pretty worthless secondhand.
Wish they just put both games on the card.
I don't need the first game as I have already beaten it on both 3DS and Wii U but I hope they reconsider releasing the 2nd game on retail.
It be nice to play REvelations 2 in portable form that works well, the Vita version wasn't very good.
Think this is a tricky one. While it's disappointing that we are getting another old game from them it is nice to get some more software support from a third party. Capcom is in a difficult position. Their finances still aren't great and the PS4 is perceived as their main place of income. Economically it makes more sense to them to port over old games that it knows the switch can run than make something from the ground up. Resident evil 7 would never run on a switch so I think that's pie in the sky sadly
@CarefulNow There's an ignore button you know.
@Malanta He's allowed to have a different opinion, he's not breaking any rules (and whenever he posts a positive comment, nobody cares). You don't have to reply to anyone, you don't have to give anyone attention, and we even have an ignore button. If you don't like seeing his comments, I suggest using the latter option.
Yay for more old ports~
What? Unlike some, I can say it with zero sarcasm. :^P
The collection sounds akin to Final Fantasy X/X-2 package on Vita, but I'll go for digital anyway and decide on both purchases separately. RER2 seems like a more certain one despite already being portable on Vita; the first game? Well, I do have it on 3DS already. Granted, I haven't played far into it yet and the right Joy-Con's analogue looks a good bit more appealing for the dedicated playthrough than the C-stick...
(Although 3DS did have gyro aiming at least, something I believe any shooter should feature as an option. I wonder if Switch will have it as well)
Might give 2 a download as I still have the first on 3DS, my Vita memory was too full to fit the sequel and never got round to it on PS4 either. Be great if they ported the remaster of the GC remake too, that came to PS3 so no reason they couldn't really.
Older games and I have the original on the 3DS but I never played Revelations 2. They are older games but more third party support the better for the Switch.
@Octane
Quite frankly its trolling when it doesn't own or like the system he is commenting on - and its pointless him expressing a opinion on something that doesn't affect him in any way at all - its trolling, End of - and quite frankly I am fed up enough with it so will carry on "calling him out on it" as you put it until either he or you mods see sense, so if you are going to ban me for doing it, just get it over with then we can all move on with our lives and I can stop coming here and seeing his crap.
If I want more ports of old games from Capcom, I'd rather choose DmC. It's done in Unreal engine so porting will be easy. It is way more fun and humorous than RE.
@A01
Maybe you should call customer service so they fix that malfunction !
I highly recommend the ignore button.
@Timppis I enjoyed the first game, it starts off with good vibes of the original, unfortunately it starts to turn a little shooty-bang-bang when you change characters.
The best parts of the game are when you're on the ship playing as Jill, but the enemies are quite dull and repetitive. It is a decent game though. I've not played 2 yet.
Never bought the first one on Wii U as the demo had a serious deadzone issue with aiming, there were a lot of topics on forums about this problem, which they never bothered to fix for the full game.
The game did intrigue me back then, so may pick this up down the line when the price is closer to what it costs on Steam (the portability is nice).
It's a bit too pricey for me right now, especially with part 2 being digital forcing me to buy more memory for the Switch >.>
@Tsurii How to get lots of likes on a comment
1. Insult SLIGEACH_EIRE for no reason
2. Profit
I know a lot of people joke about it but the hate he gets seems to be overly venemous for no reason. This community can be really vicious just because someone doesn't like their favorite multi-billion dollar corporation. Sad really.
I have already RE revelations 1 on 3DS and on Wii U (I got the later on sale). The one for 3DS is still the prettiest 3ds game if you ask me, but the HD treatment is nice on Wii U. I should pass the Switch version for this one.
Now I don't own RE revelations 2, I could consider it but I just saw correct or average reviews scores, so I will check later.
The only RE I would ready need on my Switch would be RE7 tough, with RE4 to consider also, even if they port the latter on a dozen platforms, they never released a legit and conplete handheld version.
Darn. I was hoping for 4 HD... not a bad release though
What an insult. I mentioned this only the other day as a joke but not entirely. I had a feeling this might happen.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/07/capcom_reportedly_gearing_up_for_multiple_nintendo_switch_titles#comment4060946
I own Revelations on Wii U(it's a very good game by the way). Most Nintendo fans own it on either 3DS or Wii U. So we're essentially paying for 1 game but charged for 2 if you want the Collector's Edition. It would make more sense for the second game to be on cartridge. It would make even more sense if both games were on cartridge. I wonder if it's because of cartridge costs?
Yeh... I'll support Capcom again if they launch Monster Hunter World on the Switch..
RErev2 yes please. Enjoyed the first on 3DS. Didn't bother with it on WiiU though as didn't think it'd translate well to the big screen. How do people rate Rev2 to Rev1?
God what are these comments.
Anywho, yay portable Raid mode!
Revelations was one of the best 3rd party games on the 3DS, so this is a welcome surprise. The download voucher for the second game is a bit odd though.
@MattFox I've got a gut feeling that Capcom will go without your support from now on then. Do hope I'm wrong in that, but it's Capcom
Two very good games, but a shame that they didn't fit both onto the cartridge. I just hope that they aren't cutting any corners, like not including DLC (Especially for Rev2, as it has some F2P shenanigans going on) or that they lack online modes.
So, cross your fingers that they will sell well enough to warrant a REmake bundle and a HD bundle (REmake and Zero, CVeronica and 4 respectively)
Cool I like the first one
Got admit the second one not as good but still
If they go on cart then yeah day one
Now here's what I call Loyalty
I read this as the original PSA One RE 1 and 2 and was way more excited when I thought it was those 2 titles. Don't think I'll get this one until it's really cheap, but good to see more Capcom support.
@Yasaal Puts on pessimistic hat Loyalty for older games that don't cost them as much/risk them as much to port? removes said hat I do hope we'll see some "current" support from them though.
Capcom clearly scrambling to find stuff to put on Switch. I would expect a Mega Man Collection / Disney Collection announcement soon.
It would have been nice if Capcom were "all in" from the start but I won't complain if Capcom start making great Switch games.
@sillygostly Yeah, that is my though exactly, they should split the games on two releases and allow us to own them both on cartridge. We want to collect the games damnit!
I'm happy for those that are happy with the announcement. I never played the revelations series, can't say if it's great or not, but I have several posts saying I don't like digital downloads
Just from reading the comments, seeing this is a old game from 3ds, I'm not certain if I would buy it. While I know ports are a quick way to make a buck, I mean a welcome addition, I would rather have a new game. Or RPGs.
Nice. I'm looking forward to playing the first one. Now let's hope Capcom bring us Street fighter 3.
@Malanta @CarefulNow
To be fair, he tries (sometimes), but given his history, it is mainly overlooked. Isn't it always like that...
As for the "Ports are boring/lazy" comments, insinuating that nobody wants them (though it's probably only him who currently thinks that he thinks that this is so) and it is a presumably a bad thing (because he can't imagine or accept that other people may crave for those games on a new and versatile platform, even though it is of course more than obvious...), I cannot take these comments from him seriously anymore, not since I found the following post from him a while back:
SLIGEACH_EIRE, Wed 30th Nov 2016
"It's about time they think about what third parties want and not just themselves. Hopefully, it reflects in better ports, more of them and better sales."
He was actually asking for more ports on the Switch at one time...! So while I don't ignore him completely (there's no reason to, and he does raise interesting questions every once in a while), I'll just ignore this sort of comment as the humbug it is, shake my head, smile indulgently... and move on.
I'll pass. Things have been going silent hill on the series as of late. On the bright side, it does show Capcom are interested in the Switch.
Positive news if you ask me. I'd love to play these games on the go. Now all we need is monster hunter double cross, RE7 and a special version of monster hunter world...if it can be done that is
@PotatoTheG
"This community can be really vicious just because someone doesn't like their favorite multi-billion dollar corporation"
Spot on. It's incredibly childish too. Quite pathetic in fact.
Outstanding value for 2 above the average games.
Anyone who enjoy RE 1, 2, 3 or even 4 should buy this one.
@sillygostly Well said.
I got all excited then until I saw the word Revelations 😔
So, these games actually have a release date for PS4 and xb1. Once again, switch lagging behind with a later release 'time frame' not even a defined date.
@CarefulNow You've been a member on this site for all of 2 hours. Funny how your name and banner reference Father Ted. And your first objective on this site? To have a go at me. Before I even posted in the story. I've no doubt you're some other member here and are using this alias to try and bash me as you don't want to get your main account possibly banned.
Well, it's more compelling than buying Street Fighter 2 for $40.
@gatorboi352 I'm guessing they started on the port for Switch after the other 2. Seems all third parties are still hedging their bets
Just gonna go straight digital on these. I knew there was a reason I put a 200GB SD card in the Switch . Glad to see these coming, I was keeping an eye on the 3DS version ages ago.
This isn't the Resident Evil I wanted on Switch 😟
coughs
Zack&Wiki HD
coughs more
So they skip Nintendo consoles on Revelations 2, even after the first one's success on 3DS, then turn around and port it to Switch now? Capcom can go kick rocks.
Not a fan of Resident Evil, but this can only be a good sign! Now bring Disney and Mega Man over, Capcom.
I'll be downloading the first Revelations as I always loved that game on my 3DS and would love to replay it in HD. Anyone here play and recommend the second one?
@JunkRabbit Current ports. Not years old games that we've already played and that are overpriced. These ports are reasonably priced, however. Perhaps the first game should be a bit lower though.
That's it, I just filled the cup. Capcom getting back in my good graces. Now about Monster Hunter...
Loved the first game on 3DS. Still have the copy of the misspelled Revelations.
i really want resident evil 4 and 5 remake on Switch. 5's coop mode would be perfect for the joycon!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Revelations 2 should be on a cartridge honestly. The whole half and half thing makes their special collection feel a lot less collectible.
@CarefulNow You're talking nonsense. Give exact examples please? I'm referring to post #77.
Honestly the second Resident Evil Revelations game should never had missed the Nintendo system. It was a mistake for Capcom to even think that not releasing this on the 3DS (the system that this side story started on) will makes their fans happy as a lot of the 3DS players missed the second game due to Capcom purposely pissing the fan based. Hopefully the RER2 Switch port is more like the console version and not the crappy PS Vita port (slippery control, bad framerates, atrocious load times, low resolution graphics, etc.). Anyways Capcom you still need to do better than this but this is a step in the right direction. Bring more ports and remakes but also bring in new games too (both ports and exclusives).
@Malanta I will be buying the Switch. Just not yet. I already have Switch games paid for.
Either give me two cards or number 2 on a card!
@cowntsikin Which version of Revelations did you find better, 3DS or Wii U version?
I won't get digital releases nor collections. Release them on a card separately and I'll get them both, Capcom. Otherwise, it feels like you guys are just giving us scraps and I won't buy it.
@retro_player_22 Yeah I was saying that too. Getting Revelations 2 on Switch now is just lame. For me personally, Capcom needs to get some new games in development on Switch before I'll take notice.
Both games could easily fit on 1 cartridge. I find it strange though that the first game on Wii U was 13GB, yet the second game on PS4 was only 6.7GB.
@PlayedNSlayed the reason why both revelations are coming right now instead of seven is because the are already working on the revelations project for Xbox one and PS4. It makes more sense than jumping back and for.
Ooh! Now that's what I'm talkin about!
I'm on it. Resident Evil Revelations 2 baby!!!
Revelations games are the ONLY ones I like. Couldn't stand RE7. Too "demonic horror", I like the classic RE Revelations games. Absolute gems!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE The first game was a full game on 3DS but then was upscale and port to multiple systems including Wii U. The second game is an episodic title, that 6.7GB may just be for one episode of that game, the entire game with all 6 episodes included equals to around 18+GB (which means some episodes are shorter than others). If Capcom is using a 32GB Switch game card for this, it should be able to fit in both games just fine. This is just Capcom's way of not investing in a bigger expensive game card or that Nintendo probably didn't had one yet.
Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3!!!!!
@LegacySmikey I'm hoping for a Breath of Fire collection too especially if it's just BOF1-4, I enjoy Dragon Quarter as well but not as much as the earlier games.
I just don't understand why they have to pull this "physical game for the first one and download voucher for the second" crap. It defeats the entire purpose of buying physical.
Yikes, $40 for half of a physical version of games that are almost always on sale at or under $10 on various platforms (including Vita) is not very good. Capcom being capcom i guess.
At least Capcom isn't charging 60 bucks for each.
$40 for two seems fair as I've never played either of those games. They seem decent.
@FX102A Yeah I hate that trend too but if it makes you feel happy Final Fantasy X-2 and Resident Evil Revelations 2 both sucks the same way. The story of both just doesn't had that epic feel to them like the first game of both entry. When I bought FFX HD Collection for the PS Vita, I only bought it for FFX, FFX-2 is just a bonus. This for the Switch though just feels like a slap in the face to fans. It's basically Capcom forcing you to buy Resident Evil Revelations again just so you can play the second game.
There's games are pure trash and most Switch owners will eat these up.
@retro_player_22 I've checked further and it's 18GB apparently for the full Revelations 2 game. That makes much more sense.
@Whimsy_Bomb
So... you'd prefer they not bring it then? And we can have 2 less games to look forward to?
These are excellent games, and having both in HD console quality as handheld games is a huge win.
What they did last gen was bogus. No doubt. I was pissed more than most. But the games are coming now, and life is too short to hold grudges over something so trivial as video games. I want to play RE Revelations 2 on Switch. I got it on PS4 and Vita, but I'll be danged if I give Sony sales for this and not Nintendo. Right now we need games on Switch. How we do that, is we buy up everything good that comes. We do that by not holding grudges.
Otherwise, we'll be sitting here with zero third party support on Switch, complaining no one is bringing their games, but hey... we'll have shown that low down dirty Capcom they can kick rocks, right? Hope that indignation entertains you well, cause we sure as heck won't have any games to play.
I've never played either one. So its more options for me, at least.
@RedMageLanakyn
That's... what happens to games that have been out for a year or more. Just like RE Revelations was full price on PS3, Vita and Wii U despite being $5 on the 3DS sales. It was same price on PS4 too when it just released.
This is $20. Surely you don't expect them to launch these games for less than $20? I mean come on.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Thanks for the clarification. I'm not totally convinced that at the time (or later, when so many comments about this issue felt so poisonous, to me, too btw...) you really did make this distinction, but I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt. It's hard to prove either way, so I guess everyone must make their own minds up about this.
Do we agree that ANY additional game is good for the system though? If some ports are overpriced or not is a completely different issue to my mind, especially because it's a very subjective one. If something is worth the asking price is different for everyone, and ultimately it's for each of us to decide if we'll buy it immediately or later (during a sale for example). Or not at all.
Take me and this game for instance. I have owned the 3DS version of the first part for years (got it day one), and just three days ago was tempted by the Wii U sale and thought it might be fun to play it on the big screen, too. I would still love to have both parts on the Switch though, but will now probably not play it on the Wii U anymore after all. So I'll have to ask myself if having them both on one system will be worth th 40 EUR plus 8. And part two is basically the only part I haven't played yet, I will probably not bother with part one too much on Switch, but I still feel the urge to have both of them together on the system. I guess I'm not alone in this, collectors that we are... I haven't made up my mind yet, I guess my purse will decide if it's overpriced to me when the time comes. Since you apparently feel that these ports are not overpriced to begin with, it's of course a very individual point of view I'm offering, but I dare say that it's the same for ANY release and ANY individual. We shouldn't sate this so matter-of-factly by using the term "overpriced". Though at times many people might agree that TO THEM the potential fun might not be worth the asking price. "Rime" is a good example here. I was really looking forward to that, but considering how short it is, I will pass at the current asking price...
EDIT: PS: Your posts today feel much more moderate (mostly). Thanks. It makes them far easier to swallow and even relate to. I hope people will be able to appreciate that, too. Keep up your passion for Nintendo!
Oh wow Capcom is actually having a better deal than $40 •Street Fighter
@JaxonH You mentioned grudges, and I feel summoned. Hi.
Seriously though, I will buy any third-party game that I like on Switch, going so far as to pay full price for XV2, vs having been able to buy it for 25 euros on Steam before. And you're right, if we want the third-party situation improved, then we'll have to do it ourselves by buying stuff.
Not an RE fan personally so I won't be buying this (or any other zombie/pseudo-zombie game) but it's good news to see them bringing RE back to Nintendo after the hiatus. Even if it's not 7 (which I'm even less interested in.)
@JaxonH They sure can. Glad we got that squared away.
This will take up all my switch space,so no thanks.
Wow, what a surprise! I'll probably be getting both. RE:R1 is still one of my favorite 3DS games and I never played 2.
@JunkRabbit I would be one of them! I would love to get games like Metro on the Switch just for the portability! That and I have always found horror games more effective on portable device because it just feel more intimate.
Might get it just for the second one.
@JunkRabbit It's not as simple as is "ANY additional game is good for the system though?" And price does come in to it. If these games are in addition to new and original games then it's good. But if all we're going to get is cash grabs with old ports then no it's not good.
Take Resident Evil Revelations as an example. Right now it's €8 on the Wii U eShop. I think it's €7 on the 3DS eShop. What will the Switch port offer new? Nothing as far as I can see. And it'll likely be €20-25. Some will say you can play it on the go. I've no interest in that and it's already portable on the 3DS.
But moving on to more pressing games. Look at MK8D. Will we get a new MK game on Switch? I don't think so. So I'm expected to buy a game that's largely the same apart from Battle Mode which they could have and should have fixed on Wii U? Not just that but it's full price and will soon be charging for online(some would argue worse online). So it's very possible that we'll go a generation without a new MK game. And what about Smash Bros.? Same story as it will eventually turn up on Switch.
Bought! First on the 3DS (had to get the typo box..hehheh), then on the Wii U (somebody used the Gamepad!), and now on the Switch.
I for one am done with zombie games. So these are not for me. Although is good to see the switch getting mature content games, even if they are just ports of existing games. It is a start, to wait until the switch installed base gets large enough to justify original/newer games. Capcom has always been one of the best third parties for Nintendo.
I miss the days when Capcom was bolder, more willing to take risks, with more original games. The days of killer 7, RE 4, P.N.3, viewtiful Joe, etc. Unfortunately these risks with fresh games didn't pay off in the market. So Capcom became the afraid, sequel driven publisher of sparse budgets, that is now.
Capcom big thing now is Monster hunter World. They are aiming for the big sales number of the world market. Although it is not on Nintendo systems for now, maybe it comes later. Still I wish that MHW goes to sell beyond 20 million units, so Capcom can breathe. And then have a shot at saving the world, from dry, violent and tasteless western games like GTA, fifa and call of duty.
Look forward to more Capcom games on switch.
Never played either games, so I'll pick this up for sure. Shame that RE Revelations 2 is digital only.
RE Revelations 2 is finally coming to a Nintendo platform. We have come full circle.
Buying both digital
Never played any of them so I guess I'm good.
The only Resident Evil I've ever played was the original one on PC a thousand years ago.
It's a shame both aren't physical though...
Please let there be gyro aiming option!!!!
I didin't buy it for Wii U because I waited for gyro aiming update.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
My point is: what may seem like a cash grab to you because you already know, own and have played a game to exhaustion might be a welcome addition to the library to someone else, maybe because they've always wanted to get a certain game, but couldn't decide earlier, or they just didn't have any of the systems the game was on, or just because they just love the game to bits (or bytes...) and feel the urge to dive in again, even if only for the promise of higher resolution. It would not be for YOU to decide if it's good or bad for them or too expensive, or if the game should exist on the platform in question or not. To those people it might well be a Revelation (pun intended) still, and worth even full price. It is subjective. You may not agree for individual titles, but that's subjective, too, and would you deny them their fun and enjoyment, just because YOU don't feel the same way? (this is actually how many of your past posts come across and what makes them feel so poisonous and irritates people here so much: they feel like only because you don't like something, nobody else should be allowed to enjoy it either... oftentimes I actually thought: Why in the world does he WANT SO MUCH that the Switch fails? If he's not interested, fine... but almost willing it to be unsuccessful with all the negativity, so others cannot enjoy it either, just felt wrong).
As for the Resident Evil Revelations example: Did you read my post completely (especially the third paragraph)? Because I'm actually using the very same example with the same details and a similar argument, but I do come to a very different conclusion... If that doesn't prove my point that it's up to a subjective, individual decision and not to be stated matter-of-factly, then I don't know what else to say...
Great news to me. I love both games and want to have a proper version of Revelations 2 to take with me on the go (have the Vita version, but the choppy frame rate makes it a bit of a chore to play). Hopefully if it sells well enough a port of RE VII will also happen. Nintendo players have always supported the RE series well and deserve to play the best mainline entry since 4.
This is the best news in a VERY LONG TIME. Love both games and the switch is just the way for me to play them. DAY ONE FOR ME!
@Gamer83 Just bought the VITA version of Rev2 3 weeks ago and deleted it after 2 hours of playtime because the port was BAD imo. Bad sound and poor framerate. As I deleted it I thought to myself. This is coming to the Switch soon I hope. Match made in heaven. <3
@Geeks4Life
Yeah, I agree. I love the game on PS4 and was really happy when Sony announced it was working with Capcom to port it over to Vita. Unfortunately the port just didn't turn out well.
So it took two years after screwing us over on Revelations 2, can we assume then that Disney Afternoon and MegaMan legacy 2 collections are coming in 2019? :/
@PlayedNSlayed rinse, repeat for Nintendo. How many generations of Nintendo hardware is this going to be the rhetoric?
@JaxonH you own multiple consoles, no? If I may ask, why have you not purchased/played Revelations 2 on another console up to this point?
My XBox Gold subscription gave RER2 to me for free .99 FYI.
(Spoiler alert: it's a bad game)
Yeah, I hope this is not another test.
I don't think there will be that many people, who are interested on Revelations and didn't buy them when they were new.
But gyro aiming would make me downright pumped.
Now bring RE7, Disney/Mega Man Collections, MH XX and Viewtiful Joe 3.
Nice I think Capcom should go ahead and release the other RE games such as RE remake, RE 0 remake, RE 4,5,6 just like on other systems.
@duddy Honestly if they are bringing the Disney's Afternoon Collection to Switch, I hope they include Aladdin, Goof Troop, The Little Mermaid (seriously I love this game) and the 3 Mickey Mouse Magical Quest games in there alongside Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers 1 & 2, Duck Tales 1 & 2, Talespin, and Darkwing Duck. They could call it the Disney's Morning and Afternoon Collection. There's no reason Capcom couldn't add six extra roms to a physical Switch game card, that's 7 NES and 5 SNES games after all, a 1GB SD Card alone could hold all 12 games as well as all the extra contents they include with it.
@PlayedNSlayed In fairness, Res 7 is a pretty demanding game, given imagined dev time on it, if they were to port it, they'd probably only have started figuring that out this year. As for Monster Hunter....that's more a case of (like Dragon Quest or the Mana collection) a Japanese company continuing to question how big the fan base for certain games are in the west, than the Switch being an afterthought.
@gatorboi352
Umm, I have. I own TWO copies of it. But the Vita version sucked. The game was incredible though. I played a few hours and it was just as good if not better than the origibal.
@retro_player_22 Emulation is different for some of those games, so it's not just a quick dump. Another studio handles that for Capcom (an American one, same as the MMLC!), so that ability sits with them. Also, those are additional Disney properties, so licensing and all that (and Magical quest wasn't an afternoon show). That said, if they added more I'd love a Maui Mallard!
@Varoennauraa
Yup, I'm kinda in the same boat. Beat both Revelation games but got the bad ending in Revelations 2 and didn't play the dlc scenarios.
But with gyro aiming and a $19.99 price tag, I think that'd get me to dive in again. Besides, the Raid mode in Revelations 2 was probably one of the best Resident Evil extra modes I've ever played.
buying!
I loved the first one on 3ds. I liked the changing main character thing they did. And the yacht was cool. I'm interested
If the Rev2 has wireless co-op(in addition to gyro), I will buy many copies at high price!!!
@AcridSkull
Thanks. That's better advice than "Buy it and you will see" that someone else thought was somehow relevant
Great news!
Ports yes, but mature ones at that, so hopefully developers won't feel limited to just the "kiddy games" that Nintendo often gets branded for. And considering Capcom not long ago ported RE 4, 5 and 6 to current systems not long ago, we could possibly see even more RE games, along with REmake, Zero, and Code Veronica.
Pity about the 2nd digital download. Not just for Digital Vs Physical reasons but also its going to be a pain to pick this game up used. On the plus side though, Capcom has often put their RE games on discount on other systems including Wii U and 3DS for derp cheap so that won't be too bad once weekly sales become more of a thing on Switch.
Now, if only we can solve this "MegaMan Legacy Collection 2" and "Disney Afternoon Collection" problem....
Remember people, the files on retail Switch games are compressed. And since Revelations 2 is a pretty old game (and doesn't take too much space), it won't be so bad to download, though I do hope it doesn't become a trend
Hmm.. the package bundle is pretty lazy imo. But Capcom did drop the support of Revelations 2 like a cold potato, as far as dlc goes.. But the server events are still alive and kicking. Kinda surprised they're even porting 2 at all.
But I'll buy it mostly to play Revelations 1. I'm not doing the Rev2 Huge Creature Event Bloody Gina prize again. Too time consuming for a color swap unlock.
I'll get the Xbox One version of Rev1 and the Switch version also.
@LegacySmikey Gotcha, thanks for the impressions. I loved the first but heard pretty average things for the second game from critics. Gameplay for 2 never really hooked me so I just wanted to see what others thought. I probably won't pick it up, but I think I'll be repurchasing the original for Switch this year!
Now if Capcom could just give us Monster Hunter and the Mega-Man collections...
@Dang69 Like I said they could just rename it the Disney's Morning and Afternoon Collection (finding excuse for both the dev and the company not to make this is unacceptable) or whatever that make sense. The studio could easily make those games work as Capcom still had the source code for them to work around with even if they are not a quick dump. If the Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 (which had games from multiple platforms) could do that this new one could as well. Finding excuse for them not to make it is not going to work here. Capcom had all the money we throw at them already, now they must make use of them and bring us as many of these as they could.
RER2 is download only eh? SIgh... I swear, Capcom have become the drama kings this generation. As much as I would love to play RER2, I'm not sure I will get it at $20-- Maybe a future sale. Not that it's expensive, but honestly, I could Gamefly that and beat it in a weekend at a fraction of the cost. Capcom and their lack of physical releases, I tell ya...
@MeloMan I've seen other reports from youtubers stating that both games will get physical releases which would be the only RIGHT thing to do. I'm getting both games no matter what but my love still goes to physical releases. I feel you brother I really do
Played first one and I have second one on vita physical version, how you may ask, well I bought a version from play Asia for the Hong Kong market, it's voiced in Chinese but has English subs, also downloaded the English version cheap on psn sale. Maybe the same will happen for this on switch aswell
It's good that Revelations 2 is finally headed towards a Nintendo console. It's a shame that you have to download the second one though. If they had to do it that way, I would have preferred that Revelations 2 be the physical one and Revelations 1 be the digital one. Since Revelations 2 takes up more than double the disk space compared to Revelations 1 (according to Steam versions of the titles).
@WaveBoy Resident Evil 7 doesn't look that demanding. I'm sure Switch could run it if Capcom ported their engine to support Switch. If I recall correctly, Capcom was planning it. We'll see.
I am super happy about this! Shame that People still is complaining about Capcom though. Getting RE2 for switch came as a shock, and woah, even the price is decent if you look at it as a whole. Guess some people Will never be happy...
Meh, the first game is one game I'd much rather play the original version of, due to how hilarious the voices are. Of course, that will never come to the Switch due to those versions never coming to a Nintendo console, but meh...maybe I'll just play it on my PS2 some day.
Excellent news! Will download Revelations 2, as I've never played it. Probably won't double dip on the first one, though it's a solid game.
Hope we see the other RE ports as well as UMvC3, DMC4, Dragon's Dogma, and the Ace Attorney series next!
I can imagine Capcom porting over RE 4/5/6 Collection onto the Switch for $60.
@WaveBoy Didn't say it would.
@retro_player_22 I'm not finding an excuse just stating a reason why it's not that immediate of a situation. For one, not all roms emulate equally, even from the same system. SNES examples are easy to point out because of the FX chip, but an NES example would be Castlevania 3. I forget if in that game, it's something extra in the cart, or in the way they programmed some animations, that make it different than other NES emulations. SO, maybe they could just quickly dump more roms onto Afternoon Collection, but maybe they can't. Also, maybe each Disney franchise based game is extra monies, especially for Mickey Mouse. Maybe not. MMLC is easier because it is outright owned by the publisher of the game, Capcom, that the developer, Digital Eclipse, works for. And finally, after adding roms you'd have to change the marketing for the game, you'd have to decide if adding more roms dilutes the focus or potency of the game, question if it's stronger as JUST the Afternoon Collection, then change the in-game menu, change the promo art, in-game bonus content, etc.
@retro_player_22 Also you know that devs usually have to decompile the source codes from the games themselves, right? Usually they have their own software that does that and is part of the reason a company like Capcom hires them. Capcom doesn't just go, "HEY here's some OG source code for ya!" Sometimes companies even lose their original source code, like the original arcade Bubble Bobble is absolutely gone forever.
Never played these...I'll give it a shot.
Have to say I rather enjoyed RE: Revelations on 3DS. Especially with the Circle Pad Pro. I know it was an ugly add on but it actually felt great to use. One of the few 3DS games for me that rivalled home console games at the time. And actually it was a decent Resi experience. I'm mildy excited at the prospect of trying the second entry in the series on Switch. It might be a port, but the machine does need more diversity in its catalogue. Good news.
Lol the first one is on Wii u lol part 2 didn't make it lol
Would have preferred both titles on card, but that's ok. These two games are very good and being portable is a big plus.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not disappointed that we're getting old games (more on that in a minute). I'm more disappointed in yet another RE Revelations port. Even though it too has been ported a million times over, I would much rather have something like Resident Evil 4 (portable?! *drools), which has never been released in handheld form.
At this point, until Capcom one day (hopefully!) revives Mega Man, I'm perfectly fine with them releasing ports of old games! In fact, I'd really like to see:
1). The Viewtiful Joe Collection!
2). Capcom Classics Collections 1 and 2
3). Mega Man Legacy Collection 2
4). Disney Afternoon Collection
5). Capcom's 8 bit Collection: I was talking to a friend about this, the other day. Capcom was second (or third, behind Konami) only to Nintendo, and there are so many games (many of them licensed, which Capcom proved with the Afternoon Collection could be worked out) that have never seen release. Imagine a Capcom Collection with games like Willow, Little Nemo, Bionic Commando, Gun.smoke, Strider, Mickey Mousecapade, Yo Noid (shut up, I love that game!), etc.
I'll be buying them
Got Revelations 1 on Wii U and 3DS. Had my fill. I have Revelations 2 in its entirety on PS3, and for some reason only one episode on PS4. Either way. I didn't like it nearly as much, and found myself making fun of most of the cutscenes. So I think this is a big pass for me. Portable Raid Mode sounds good... I may bend a little if Rev2 was physical. Its not however. I think a new budget Mercenaries version or an all new game would entice me more.
Unfortunately, I find hard to thrust Nintendo with any digital purchase. I don't even know if they changed with the Switch but the insistence in previous consoles to attach it to consoles left me cold. I would prefer to buy both in cartridges, perhaps if there is enough buzz, Capcom might release a special edition.
No physical release of revelations 2 and the later release date makes me want to skip the switch version in favour of the PS4 version, I really would like the option of playing it portable but I can't be bothered with digital downloads when it's supposed to be a physical release
So part 2 is forever digital even if you buy the retail copy- I don't get that at all. Why not stick 2 cards In the retail box??
@BanjoPickles oh man I'd kill for Capcom classics collection 1&2 on the Switch!! That would be awesome....just don't see it happening. I'd take Disney afternoon too. Still don't understand how that game filled with classic NES ports didn't make it to Switch in the first place!! Smh 🤦♂️
I like it that Capcom is bringing the Resident Evil Revelations Collection to the Nintendo Switch, I just wish that both games were on one card (or two).
I hope this meets Capcom's expectations like Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers did... I would like to see more games and franchises from them arrive on Switch.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I laughed when I saw this post title, knowing that you'd mentioned it in the previous Capcom article. But to happen this quick is bloody mental.
I will be buying the Switch. Just not yet. I already have Switch games paid for.
Smart man, smart man. I daresay you're waiting on Odyssey and Xenoblade 2 before you grab one eh? I'm dying to play those games myself.
I liked Revelations on my Wii U. I loved Revelations 2 on my xbox one. That was a fine game, and depending on your in game decisions there's a very cool twist at the end. I may pick up a Switch around Christmas 2018. If they keep adding games like this, I might pick it up a little earlier.
Great games, much better than 5 and 6. Kinda hard to compare to 7 though.
Will definitely triple/double dip on these.
Must buy for me
I'll be in if we get both games on carts.
@RonF
Nintendo have improved their digital system now. It's all tied to your Nintendo Account rather than hardware. Much better than the shambles they had in the Wii U days.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-03-03-finally-we-have-answers-to-nintendo-switchs-digital-game-sharing-questions
@electrolite77 True, but trust is hard to get and I am one of these guys that keep old consoles and wonder if I will be able to download a game brought 20 years ago.
@Dang69 Well the fanbase for MH has grown massively in the west since it moved to 3DS. MH4U was the biggest in terms of sales and no doubt a localisation would increase the sales of MHXX for very little effort seeing as most of the assets are already there from Generations,so i do question the logic behind it,but then this CAPCOM we're talking about
@RonF
Totally understand. Just thought I'd mention they've improved things a bit.
@SanderEvers
Well yeah exactly. On Switch you can unlink your account, buy a new Switch later on and redownload your games. The end result being a bit more control and ease of use.
Great, we already began with the ports.... Can't Capcom produce new, original content?
Anyway, I won't be getting this. I never liked Resident Evil.
@A01 Just out of curiosity, why do you prefer cartridges? Is it from a collector's standpoint, like you enjoy having the box? I'm very interested in the choice to go to cartridges over downloads, I recently got a Switch and decided I was going to go all download.. I love having all my games on the system at once.
@PlayedNSlayed Thats what I thought too! But Square Enix does this with Dragon Quest too. It's like, with Monster Hunter, they're not sure if enough MH western fans are on the Switch yet to translate? I'm sure it'll happen. Only recently got a New 3ds, didn't have a Wii or WiiU, and the Switch is the only next gen console I have so I really want to be able to play this franchise for the first time!
@KoopaTheGamer
I'm guessing this game is a litmus test. If it sells well, pretty good chance of getting RE 7. At least that's what I hope.
@WaveBoy I have no idea what you're talking about or what it has to do with my previous comment, but since this is how you discuss, I guess I'll do what I recommended in my former post.
Nice! The first game was so beautiful on 3DS.
@UmniKnight They wouldn't dare!!!!!!!
@wazlon they have their own merits. I got the 3DS version first in 2012, and I had a blast playing it. That was the peak of when there are lots of people playing Raid Mode and I had no problem finding people to play with. And I beat the story mode 4 times. I got the Wii U version just last year. It looks better, but there are almost no more people playing Raid Mode. I was only able to play with someone online twice. But I also enjoyed playing it.
