Re: Feature: Metroid Dread Has Plenty Of Other M's DNA, And That's No Bad Thing

@westman98

To be honest I think nintendo will have to take another crack at another 3D 3rd person Metroid eventually. Dread is very much the pinnacle of 2D Metroid design. I can't really think of any meaningful way to improve on that traditional formula and too be honest - the formula is getting a little worn. I hope Prime 4 has a 3rd person mode/viewpoint but if it doesn't I hope for another game in the vein of Other M.

@Clod

My thoughts exactly.

@Diogmites

No, that's okay - I can't take you at just your word. The aspects of the games you mentioned not liking don't have anything to do with actual gameplay. I've played more than enough of the older games and newer 2D (2.5D games) to know that the core Metroid experience is sold across them all. But if graphical enhancements and cinematic visual flare are too offensive to implement in your 2D game playing experiences, you may want to stick to retro styled indie games or perhaps old school NSO offerings.

Re: Random: Forget Dread, It's All About Metroid: Other M On Twitter Right Now

@Spiders

I agree - actually enjoyed using the Wiimote sideways to control the game. Very interesting way to control a 3D action platform/shooter (I wish they would use this type of control scheme for a 3D Megaman classic or X game) There's probably no gettin' away from controlling Samus with an analog stick but an HD remastered Switch port should definitely include a single Joy-Con control option as well.

@chiptoon

Same here. I'd love a remastered HD Switch port of Other M. I think it'd be more accessible to naysayers and haters if they permitted left stick analog movement, added movement to the 1st person mode, made switching between 1st and 3rd person modes activated with a button press and possibly make missile firing possible in 3rd person mode.

Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Was July's Best-Selling Game In The US, Even Discounting Digital Sales

Turbo857

@neogyo Hmm, when you approach an enemy you have a rather small window to land your strike at their opening before they shift their defense. Also, some enemies react to the position you hold your sword before swinging so that could be takin’ into account as well. I played a lot of this on the Wii and Switch so I don’t have too much trouble striking at an opening before blocking. Practice makes perfect

Re: Soapbox: In Praise Of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Two Years On

Turbo857

@Expa0

I agree with some of whatcha said. Although, I rank 3 Houses high in my list of FE favs (RD and PoR get the top 2 slots with Houses in third), I do miss recruitable characters from the battle maps. RD had the best maps and battles to me, 3 Houses battles are good but never live up to past battle maps.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Dragon Quest Game?

Turbo857

The series is great but XI is hands down the best! Don't know how they're going to top that one. VIII is a close, close second though. IV was great with the different scenario chapters before all playable characters meet.

Re: PlatinumGames Has No Idea If Star Fox Zero Will Be Ported To Switch

Turbo857

I liked Star Fox Zero a lot and would likely purchase a Switch port. But we’ve seen too many rehashes of 64’s story.

I also liked Starlink a hell of a lot. That game is underrated and hints at where the future of this franchise should go, minus the toys to life implementation.

So I’d much rather see a new game in the franchise that pushes the series forward with a similar game design to Starlink and intense space or airspace dogfights seen on the level of Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Re: Poll: Vote For Your Favourite Fire Emblem Games

Turbo857

@Porky

No one in the West played New Mystery of the Emblem. As far as the west is concerned, Awakening started that trend.

Three Houses has sold the best in the series and doesn’t feature a child character creation feature (Thank God) and marriage was only a possible outcome saved til the end of game (where it belongs).

I’m gonna go with casual mode, possibly making the series more accessible to a wider audience as a main reason for FE’s popularity boost.

Re: Poll: Vote For Your Favourite Fire Emblem Games

Turbo857

Awakening and Three Houses topping the polls tell me it’s probably from fans who’s entry point were those games in particular.

I do love the appreciation Radiant Dawn and Path of Radiance is getting from the polls. At least those games are 3rd and 4th (despite the fact they deserve 1st and 2nd).

Fire Emblem games we’re always high quality SRPGs. They only reason the series took off during the 3DS era was one special feature.... Casual Mode, making permadeath optional.

Re: Poll: Vote For The Best Resident Evil Games

Turbo857

Resident Evil 5 all the way! There's a reason why it's the highest selling RE game of all time! But all the games in the main series and revelations are good to great games.

So RE 5, RE 4, RE: Veronica, RE: Revelations 2

Re: Nintendo, Sony And Microsoft Band Together To Fight Tariffs On Video Game Consoles

@Yorumi

"Any system that says one person has a right to the property or labor of another is immoral." Dude, that ain't socialism.

Medicare = socialism, Construction on streets/bridges = socialism; when natural disasters strike and FEMA comes to fund repairs = Socialism; Social Security = Socialism; actions taken by the government to ensure you breath clean air and don't eat contaminated food = Socialism

Socialism is government funding for what it believes should be considered a basic right (not a privilege) for its citizens. It says nothing about one person or entity having a right to somebody else's personal property. If you believe otherwise, you've been misinformed.

When Tetris was created and Russia's government owned the rights = Communism

Re: Nintendo, Sony And Microsoft Band Together To Fight Tariffs On Video Game Consoles

@EVIL-C

Amen. As an American I totally agree with everything you said. You guys even have legalized marijuana on a national scale (not like us in the states). It gets cold up there in the winter but I'm a big fan of Canada (especially Montreal). The US can certainly benefit in many ways from your country's example(s).

@Yorumi
Your examples reflect Communism, not socialism. I cannot stress how unfortunate it is for an individual (especially in the US) to not know the difference. And as the post above mine states, "all modern societies use forms of socialism to function".
