Disgaea 5 Complete, released alongside the Switch in Japan and in May in the West, provides a huge amount of quirky, complex strategy gameplay for those that embrace its 'niche' approach to storytelling. We enjoyed it enough to give a recommendation in our review, with the proviso that it's a commitment to get into it fully.

It's proven to be a reasonably successful release, too, albeit its hefty price and limited physical retail stock hasn't helped its cause. Nippon Ichi Software has reported that sales of the game have passed 100,000 units worldwide; as the game never cracked the top 20 in the Media Create charts in Japan, it seems a decent proportion of those sales will have been to gamers in North America and PAL territories.

For such a quirky and full-on title that figure seems about right; it offers a huge amount of content, but it undoubtedly lacks mainstream appeal.
