Don't know about all that my friend. The world does indeed learn from its historical tragedies and the people who live through them eventually evolve and make positive steps toward prosperity.
You describe world history similar to a dam that keeps leaking (which is actually a good analogy) but at least the holes leak in different places as opposed to the same holes opening up again after repair.
Dude, Sony and Microsoft in particular usually sell their consoles at a loss when it first comes to the market and don't start making a profit (off hardware) for a year or years to come. And Nintendo didn't make much profit from the Switch hardware when it first hit either.
So yeah, we can't blame them for not wanting to pay an additional 25% tax on top of selling their hardware at a loss already. Just because our President is an embarrassment to his office.
Agreed. It's indeed pretty stupid. I don't think I've ever seen a 1 player exclusive remake created for an original multiplayer game. We'd never see a single player remake for a Diablo or Gauntlet. Not gettin' my money until they announce a multiplayer patch in. Til then, it's time to look for a petition and maybe create one if none exists.
I’m really glad you mentioned this. Not many people know Seiken Densetsu 3 (trials of mana) in this collection is only 2 players. Despite the existence of a 3 character party and the fact you made that a rom hack is available for 3 players.
M2 are excellent retro port wizards but it’s unfortunate that they couldn’t add the 3-player option to Trials of Mana.
And hate to break it to you: but as of now, Square has confirmed the remake for Trials of Mana is only 1 player for some stupid reason.
Wish I could be excited about the remake (which looks gorgeous!). But when I heard it's only going to be 1 player with no co-op whatsoever, it will definitively get a hard pass.
It's unfortunate that it's only 2 players max on the collection despite having 3 characters in your party. I was hoping the remake would up it to 3 but Square doesn't wanna go that route.
Hmm, I wonder if that was the 2nd episode Iga was talking about. He only mentioned Julius's quest but what you mentioned about Lament of Innocence justifies some clarification about Castevania's origin
Unity... is a friggin' awesome entry in Assassin's Creed and my favorite game in the series. It had a buggy PC launch but once the patches came the game was awesome.
And no Assassin's Creed game ever did co-op like Unity. Such a shame
Boooooooo, Crapcom really? I don’t think your HD versions of RE4 sold as much as the Wii version. Do like you did with the RE Revelations series and patch RE4 on the Switch with its “definitive” motion control play style.
Can't wait to stream this! We finally have the international 3-player version playable on a handheld/home console. Genesis version was great, PS2 release was bad but the arcade was great. Maybe a niche title but the tactical approach needed to overcome each stage is pretty enjoyable with 2 other people! Great choice Sega. I'm really feeling their Sega Ages brand
I remember when Batman Arkham Knight did the same thing.
Eventhough the DLC content was substantial, I remember feeling underwhelmed.
Probably because the Mr. Freeze, Mad Hatter, Ra's al Ghul, and Killer Croc scenarios took place during the main campaign (making it feel like it was initially part of the base game but held back for DLC).
So does Street Fighter II Turbo and Mortal Kombat II. They have their fanbases but they're relics now especially when compared to their modern franchise update. They can be featured in retro tournaments now.
Melee was great at the time but it was woefully unbalanced. Ultimate is just superior on every level. And it has the added advantage of getting patched, in the infrequent event where a character may be overpowered or fans discover a character move specific exploit.
I felt the Wii U version was superior to Melee but Ultimate gives it its well deserved final nail in the coffin.
A Star Fox racing game doesn't really excite me but I'll always keep an open mind.
Starlink however, as already stated, is excellent. And if Nintendo doesn't model the next Star Fox entry after Starlink, they're crazy. Especially the 2-Player mode = genius!
Sales can always be put into context compared to install base and whatnot but the bottom line is... a milli is a milli. Profit margin is the true variable but only Nintendo has those numbers so I leave it to them to determine which of their games are truly disasters.
Nothing wrong with having a 1st and 3rd person perspective in a Metroid. I don't think NIntendo will switch gears with the Prime series by making a 3rd person view exclusive. But there ain't nothing wrong with having additional options.
Then again: A game simply being a divisive among fans doesn't justify it being definitively considered a disaster. Maybe in eyes of some fans but who cares what mob thinks, really?
Other M's divisive? Indisputable. But disaster, though? That's a bit pretentious imo. Almost a million and a half gamers paid hard earned cash for the game, regardless of its flaws. Nah, let sink in = Almost 1.5 mil. Now, if Ninty didn't make back development fees or sold under expectations... only then can it be considered a true disaster. If a gamer thinks it's a disaster to him/her, ok then = who cares? You're never gonna please everyone.
Should Zelda 2 or Resident Evil 5-6 be considered disasters simply because they are divisive (to "some" fans)? None of those are bad games in the slightest.
On the flipside, you haven't even played the game but here you are defending someone's right to call the game a disaster, surely based on hearsay. You can't blame me for not being able to put much stock in that opinion.
I agree. I'd be fine with an Other M sequel but I'd like to see them experiment with a real Prime style 3rd person perspective (w/Other M styled agility and finishing moves).
I tend to believe it was a vocal minority that hated Metroid M. It has its flaws but it's personally, my favorite Metroid game. Even after playing through all the Primes, I regularly go back to M.
I don't understand how you can call a game that sold more than Prime 2 and almost as much as Super Metroid/Prime 3 a disaster.
That's the point. We've already had 3 Prime games limited to a first person perspective. Throughout Metroid games, Samus's suit evolves with her abilities, performs wall jumps, and somersaults. However, in Prime games all this is limited a bit by the 1st person perspective.
If we're going to get a revival of a Prime style Metroid, at least offer something new like, a 3rd person perspective. I mean, series like Elder Scrolls started exclusively as 1st person but eventually offered 3rd person perspective views. When Metal Gear offered playable first person viewpoints (starting with 4), it never limited its 3rd person experience.
I do like the multiple cosmetic uses amiibo has in games that a particular character is in.
Like you can buy a Fire Emblem amiibo and you know that virtually any FE game that comes out in the future will make some use of the FE amiibo you already own. Typical toys to life usually only work for one specific game and then designers are burdened to extend the life of that one specific game in order to sell the toys. Not exactly a sustainable business model if the use of the toys don't live on passed one game.
Bayonetta 2 runs excellent on the Switch. There is no reason why a DMC: Definitive edition port can't work on the Switch. It was originally an Xbox 360/PS3 game.
I think that be a great start with the DMC trilogy following afterwards.
Heh-heh, I knew I wasn’t the only one. When I first heard this was coming to the Switch, I held off from buying on other consoles and thought: “It’s a no brained that this’ll be local coop with 2 switches”.
But low and behold this doesn’t appear to be the case. Very weird indeed.
My question is: Why only online co-op? I think a native Switch, local ad hoc coop option would separate it from other console versions while making coop more accessible, right?
That sounds right up my alley then. Lotta games these days are too overbloated and complicated. I dig most musou games when they mash with another IP (Hyrule Warriors, DW: Gundam, Fire Emblem Warriors, Fist of the North Star). If that's the case then this should be a good time. And at $16, it's gotta be worth the value.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember seeing Dragon: Marked for Death featured in the vid. That's coming out this month and it deserves to be highlighted.
Yep, this game is underrated. Mario Bros. U, imo, is the finest 2D Mario, followed by Mario Bros. Wii. Don't know if I'll double dip but Luigi U added to the package is a sweet deal.
Not to true. This is the definitive edition that was exclusively available in Japan.
So if you only played it on Xbox 360, you now get Flynn as a playable character and the pirate girl Patty. There was a petition on Facebook years ago asking Namco to bring it over and they responded by saying it'd never happen.
If any Assassin's Creed game should be ported to the Switch, I'd say go for Unity. Yeah, it had a buggy launch but after it was patched... it was awesome. Dead Kings was a free DLC expansion and... was awesome.
Let's not forget that it's the only AC game in history that offered very fun co-op missions for 1-4 players. On PS4/Xbox One, these were of course online only. But with the Switch opens up an additional possibility to play locally with Switch owners in close proximity. This highly underrated gem of a game deserves it's second shot to shine on a new console.

Wow, that was a mouthful, lol. But a good read nonetheless. Agreed. Couldn't hurt to see another director take a stab at a 2D Metroidvania.
But to tell you the truth: I'd like to see Julius's adventure as a 3D sequel to PS2's Curse of Darkness. That was an underrated 3D Castlevania imo.

Samey DS games? All of those DS games had a slightly different flavor and are regarded as high quality games.
