Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond: amiibo Unlocks Revealed

@gaga64 I completely forgot about Prime 3's gunship unlocks! Yeah, something like you described would be great. Federation Force even had some paint jobs for the mechs based on Mario and Bowser but I think that was it outside of the Metroid amiibo. It doesn't sound like they're doing much with the amiibo for this game.

@batmanbud2 Return to Dreamland was so mind numbingly easy and it wasn't very engaging. Maybe the same could be said for Epic Yarn, but I just remember having more fun with that.

Re: Switch Online's Missions & Rewards Adds Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door Icons

@Hwatt You're welcome!

Yes you need an active subscription to redeem and make custom icons, if your subscription expires you'll still be able to use the icon assets you own. They'll be in your collection.

You should be able to get the icon assets you want even if you're using a free trial, sometimes those are offered on My Nintendo or on Nintendo's website. The icon assets are on rotation, so these will only be available for a limited time before they get swapped for a different set.

@Hwatt You just need some platinum points, you can earn them by completing the missions, they're usually really easy to complete. You can view what missions you have for the week on the Missions & Rewards page in the NSO app on the Switch.

Once you have some points, just select the character or background or frame you want on the Missions & Rewards page and then just select redeem. Icon assets range from 5 to 10 platinum points per asset. You can only use the icon assets from the same collection, so you can't use a picture of Link on a Splatoon background.

You can also earn platinum points by logging into the My Nintendo website weekly and you can earn some by completing missions in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem on Android and iOS devices.

Re: Soapbox: 20 Years On, Pikmin 2's Waterwraith Remains Nintendo's Scariest Moment

Tourtus

It's such a shame what Nintendo did to the Water Wraith in Pikmin 4. They made it slower, put way too many safe zones on each sub level and made it less persistent. Oatchi can also carry all of your Pikmin on his back, so the wraith is easier to move around. No more straggler Pikmin would be left behind. The whole experience is so weak compared to its first appearance.

Re: 3DS And Wii U Users Say Goodbye To Online Play

I went on a grind for the Mr. Sandman badge in New Leaf during the final week of service, saw some cool towns and got the badge. Also went on Tortimer's island to look for some items, never got them but oh well. New Leaf's loading and connection times are so much faster than New Horizons, it's crazy.

Today I played Splatoon for a bit, it made me realize how much faster the first game's matchmaking is. Dunno why Splatoon 3 is so slow but I average 80 to 130 seconds for matchmaking in Splatoon 3 but Splatoon 1 was super quick, like less than 70 seconds on average. Also Squid Jump >>>>>>>>>>> Lobby Holograms.

Played some Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon and that was very fun, the Luigi voiceline spam was funny.

I got booted from the servers around 8:36 EDT while Wonder Trading in Pokemon Y.

Re: When Does 3DS And Wii U Online Shut Down? Nintendo eShop & Online Play Closure Guide

Tourtus

Nintendo should provide an update to Badge Arcade that allows users to change their badges without being online. Updates can still be downloaded from the eShop so it's not impossible. All they gotta do is make so you can access the Help Desk without needing to connect online first right? Unless your badges are stored in your account, there is no reason this shouldn't be impossible.

Re: Team Keyboard Rocks The Competition In Splatoon 3's Latest Splatfest

Tourtus

@OctoCallie20 Well cringe is subjective. I personally find all three cringey, especially their buddy talk. It's so artificial.

Nah Shiver and Frye also have no personality. Frye is just Big Man but more energetic. Both are dumb, and give weak arguments for which side they pick in splatfests. Shiver is just rude like Pearl but without the wit. Pearl is funny, Shiver ain't.

I'd point the finger at the localizers and not the developers, since they translate and alter the things the characters say. Octo Expansion's villain has a different motive in the Japanese version, and it's much better than what the English version of its motives are.

Re: Best Pikmin Games

Pikmin 2>Pikmin 3>Hey! Pikmin>Pikmin 1>Pikmin Bloom.

I haven't played 4 yet so I can't fairly rank it.

I honestly didn't think Hey! Pikmin was that bad, the blurb here says it was "uninspired" but I thought it was a very nice game, with its music being superior to Pikmin 3. The levels were all unique, none of it felt repetitive. It was a good spin-off.
