Re: Super Smash Bros. Fans Petition the White House To Secure Visa Rights for eSports Competitors

Thierry

I'm sorry - although I heavily sympathize with this guy and his cause, I just cannot take anyone that honestly wants to consider playing video games an official sport seriously. It's just not a sport.

If Melee or any other video game is to be considered an official 'sport', then that will only lead to more problems and controversy down the line.

Because then what should and shouldn't be considered a sport? Will playing Minecraft be a sport? Facebook games? What if people want to organize tournaments playing mobile farming simulators? You can't then say that that shouldn't count, because if so, you'd be the same as people claiming playing Melee isn't a real sport.

Re: Poll: Are You Confident About Nintendo's 3DS Focus for 2016?

Thierry

'This fiscal year, the 3DS has big titles as previously presented, and in sufficient quantity'

Lol, 'sufficient quantity'? It has basically nothing, besides the new Pokémon games and maybe the new Monster Hunter.

Yeah some nice RPGs and a few cool niche games, but nothing else really to sway consumers who don't already have a 3DS...

Re: Rumour: Retro Studios is Working on a New IP, Releases 2017

Thierry

Seems like a given that their new project is an NX game. A new IP would be nice too, although I wouldn't mind a new Metroid from them.

They're a long way from being Nintendo's 'new Rare' though - Rare put out immense quantities of top-notch games very fast, whereas Retro take absolutely ages to do anything. Granted, developing games takes more resources nowadays, but even then their output is very slow.

Re: Callie and Marie Join a New Splatoon amiibo Range on 8th July

Thierry

Nice. I'll probably get the Squid Sisters, eventually.

Couldn't care less about the new colour variations of the others, though. Seems overkill to me, much like the 'summer outfit' variations of certain Animal Crossing amiibo. :/

Then again, if it makes Nintendo money, who am I to complain.

Re: Nintendo Financial Results Deliver Profits but Predict Severe Drops in Expected Wii U and 3DS Sales

Thierry

Well, pretty much as expected, then.

On a side note; I'm now fully convinced NX will not be coming in March 2017,but instead be delayed to layer in the year. If they've no problems having zero meaningful products for the rest of 2016 and into 2017, and they plan to have basically no E3 presence apart from Zelda, it's pretty obvious. Not even an NX appearance @E3? No way the thing's launching in March 2017, then.

Re: Poll: The Utterly Charming Animal Crossing Series Is 15 Today, But Which Is Your Favourite?

Thierry

Obviously New Leaf. Seems the vast majority agrees.

Can't wait for AC on NX - it's bound to come out pretty soon after launch, if not @ launch, since it's such an enormous IP and it's been years since New Leaf. I'm betting a full-blown AC must've been in development for Wii U, but after it became clear that system wouldn't last, development likely shifted towards making it into an NX title.

Re: Talking Point: The Great Star Fox Zero Controls Debate Highlights Important Lessons

Thierry

It's sad that Nintendo implemented this forced 'innovative' yet unintuitive control scheme that the majority of people don't seem to like/can't get into. Haven't played the game, but tbh it seems awkward as heck.

So weird, especially considering Nintendo and especially Miyamoto himself are always going on about making games fun and easy to play, and accessible to anyone.
Moreover, forcing the game to use 2 screens has greatly reduced the visual quality. :/ I'm just sad about this whole thing.

It's a clear case of trying to be innovative just for the sake of being innovative - they've tried way too hard to desperately come up with some spectacular use of the Gamepad, yet in the end the game suffers for it, both visually and control-wise.

Re: Junichi Masuda Reassures Fans on New Pocket Monsters for Pokémon Sun and Moon

Thierry

Who cares? Like, at all? Everyone but the most hardcore of Pokémon fans have been complaining for years that there are way too many stupidly designed and named Pokémon, and that it feels like new ones are added and made up with little effort just for the sake of adding new ones. I'd be grateful if they only put in a handful of new monsters, as long as they're thoughtfully designed - instead of just, say, a bunny with green ears or a generic bird with a pink tail or whatever.

Re: Guide: Getting Started With My Nintendo

Thierry

Finally. Although imo they've made it far too convoluted. I don't understand the need for both Gold and Platinum points, as a single version would've sufficed easily.
Also, the fact that there's My Nintendo, Nintendo Network ID as well as a Nintendo Account confuses me thoroughly... :/ Why the need for so many different things?
