Almost a year after its launch Splatoon is still a go-to game for many Wii U owners, especially those looking for some online gaming. The colourful shooter has proven to be a significant hit and new IP for Nintendo.
It's attracted the occasional big-name partnership, too, and it's now been announced that the next Splatfest will tie-in with Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants. The choice will be between Team SpongeBob and Team Patrick, with cool in-game outfits for both sides.
It's taking place from 23rd April (at 6am Pacific / 9am Eastern / 2pm UK / 3pm CET) until 24th April (at noon Pacific / 3pm Eastern / 8pm UK / 9pm CET). It's the first time that North American and European players will be fighting it out together in a Splatfest, too.
So, will you be Team SpongeBob or Team Patrick?

Despite the fact that I've grown and dislike the cartoon, I will participate this Splatfest. Now, I just gotta pick which side I want to choose. That's the tough choice...
I appreciate the extended hours, even if the team options kind of stink. Are all Splatfests going to be cross-promotional from here on out?

It's not my favorite choice for a Splatfest, but oh well, it's Splatfest! General inclination for cartoon humour disgusts me, but I'll be going with first season Patrick, since in the first season he was merely that lovable klutz who gave slightly incorrect advice.

This is a combo that should've been more than obvious in retrospect. Especially considering how Nintendo is often(?) a sponsor for Nickelodeon events.
Seeing as how I have a masters in Wumbology, I'm tempted to go Team Patrick.
Moments like these make me wish both versions of Splatfest shirts were available permanently for people.

This is the WORST Splatfest ever! (I hate SpongeBob SquarePants). I'll only play it because I missed the last one, and because its both NA + Europe, that's cool. (That is, if I'm available to play it! Splatfests are always at the worst times for me...)

It makes a lot of sense, but I was kind of hoping it would be limited to the Americas (like Transformers), and that us Europeans could go back to duking out something like Chrysanthemums Vs. Azaleas or Nutmeg Vs. Cinnamon.
I might sit this one out. I already more Sea Snails than I know what to do with, and I think my tolerance to pictures of Squidward was exceeded within the first week of the game's release.
Well, that's an interesting partnership. Kinda makes sense too, since they're both sea life themed franchises.

Even though it makes sense for such a theme - meh, there are more Nickelodeon properties out there that Nick hasn't run into the ground yet and I'd rather see. Like Avatar or Danny Phantom. With Spongebob and Patrick, I'm sorta indifferent to them because those were always the characters I've never quite liked. I was more of Squidward or Mr. Krabs guy you know.

I was slightly too old when Spongebob started for me to get into it, plus the characters seemed so annoying and unlikeable.
Team Spongebob for me since I prefer yellow to pink. Also, Spyke needs his fix of super sea snails.
This is strange... and despite the ocean theme it somehow fits in even worse than transformers, which was actually really cool to see. Also rather than good vs evil, or protagonist vs antagonist, or general opposites, it's... protagonist vs comic relief character. I'll probably sit this one out.
That's only going to make Splatoon look worse.

Wow, there are a lot of people here that don't like Spongebob. Have you all watched the episode "Band Geeks"? If you've seen that one (which is one of the best) and don't like the show then by all means dislike it, but anything past season 3 is completely distorted from the original show.
Spongebob is a huge part of my childhood, but even so I completely detest anything past season 3, other than one or two ok episodes.
If only we could keep these t-shirts. Also, Patrick is the best!

Band Geeks is easily THE best episode, as far as I'm concerned, though pretty much any Squilliam episodes are great. Of course, I am definitely talking about pre-season 3. In my mind, Spongebob was cancelled after that.
On a side note... Definitely team Patrick. Too bad I don't actually own Splatoon, though...
