Re: Hardware Review: 8Bitdo SN30 Pro Gamepad: The Best Switch Pro Controller?

Thierry

At that price, might as well get an official Pro Controller from Nintendo, which gives you NFC functionality, HD rumble, a more ergonomic and robust grip, plus better superior layout and usability of buttons, sticks and triggers. Also, the guarantee it'll work perfectly without any lag or other unforseen problems. Sure this one is cheaper, but not by much.

Re: Monolith Soft Discusses the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Art Style and Its Focus on Story

Thierry

Why does wanting expressive faces equal turning 90% of the cast into little kids and covering their spaghetti-limbs with giant buckles, zippers, physics-defying giant metal plates and awkwardly gigantic bewbs...?

Seriously - I liked the original Xenoblade a lot and X is one of my top 5 games of the last decade, having put close to 250 hours into it. This new game however simply does not interest me in the slightest, the art direction being a major factor in that.

And no, the original's art style was not like this at all, and also it has nothing to do with this being celshaded or not.

Re: Your Joy-Con Can Now Have a D-Pad if You’re Brave Enough

Thierry

I've been brave enough to open up my left Joy-Con and fix the disconnection-issue, but not enough courage for an undertaking such as this... Although I did successfully replace the entire shell and all buttons of my old DS Lite years ago and gave it a neat blueish transparent look. ^^

Re: Reggie on Backing Up Your Saves with the Switch

Thierry

Imo they can't afford not to have some form or online-based cloud backup, considering they're going to start charging for online next year, in combination with the portable nature of the Switch, which makes it more prone to being damaged or lost/stolen. Plus, it's not like these are cheap throwaway mobile apps, we're talking full-fledged AAA console games here.

Re: Guide: Super Mario Odyssey amiibo Outfit Unlocks

Thierry

No Legend of Zelda-related outfits at all...?

That's very surprising, considering the plethora of outfits and prominent role they play in both this game and Breath of the Wild, plus the gargantuan amount of Legend of Zelda amiibo in existence.

However, random stuff like having a Diddy outfit while ignoring Donkey Kong, for example, gives me confidence there'll be more to come.

Re: Switch Passes Two Million Sales In Japan Thanks To Super Mario Odyssey Fever

Thierry

I wish Nintendo (and other publishers) gave out exact sales figures on a regular basis, including digital sales. Right now no one has any idea how high sales are - yes physical copies obviously give a good indication, but digital makes up a very substantial part of sales these days, which will only increase as time goes by.

I understand it's never been the norm to give out digital sales numbers, but it's 2017. I wish companies, and Nintendo especially, wouldn't be so overly secretive constantly. :/

Re: Review: Poi: Explorer Edition (Switch)

Thierry

It's hete already? I backed this way back when it was announced and still planned for Wii U. Sadly, that never happened, and as I don't own a gaming PC I thought I'd never get to play it. Until it was announced for Switch! But I had no idea it would be this soon, awesome! Although whoever planned the release date for this game must be been smoking something pretty strong... :'D

Re: DOOM Provides a 'Good Reference Point' to What Wolfenstein II Will Offer on Switch

Thierry

I really really REALLY wish they'd include gyro controls. They're doing it for Skyrim, for crying out loud! Going by all the comments everywhere it's clear a very substantial portion of the Switch demographic for this game want gyro aiming to be in there, yet for some bizarre reason, Bethesda won't do it. :/ It's really a big sticking point for me, as well as a lot of others, apparently.

Re: Playtonic Games Working on Unity Issues for Yooka-Laylee on Switch

Thierry

Obviously they don't want the game to be buggy, especially considering the glitchy launch versions on PS4/Xbone/PC, and because it's going to be on the hardware of the one videogame company who is notorious for polishing their own games to the nth degree. Releasing a buggy port after such a long time would make them look very bad indeed. Good of them to take their time!

Re: Nintendo Download: 21st September (Europe)

Thierry

Well. DB Xenoverse looks neat and I'm interested in that, but that DLC, yikes. It's like a full-priced new game. :/ Any info on what the DLC actually contains and if it's worth it? I'm too lazy to go look it up.

Re: First Impressions: Hell in a Handbasket - DOOM on Nintendo Switch

Thierry

I enjoyed the hell out of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark back in the day in N64, and those games ran at like sub-10 frames per second. This doesn't look like my type of game, but I'll probably buy it to see what it's like and to support it and future 3rd party incentives.

No gyro aiming is a very tragic missed opportunity though, it's so superior to dual analogs and I can't really go back after stuff like the Metroid Prime Trilogy, Splatoon and the likes...
