It's the 30th Anniversary year of The Legend of Zelda, which has been celebrated thus far with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD and the My Nintendo-exclusive Picross title. A new title is due on Wii U this year, and it's not unreasonable to expect the franchise to be prominent during the upcoming E3 festivities.
While we wait for Nintendo to up the ante, however, we've been pointed to a terrific fan video that celebrates the series. Published by Vince Dantorio on YouTube - the channel's first video - it's a fantastic celebration of the series. It's slickly produced and has a lovely script; frankly, if it was official marketing from Nintendo it wouldn't look out of place.
Check it out below and let us know what you think.

This video gives me good feels all around.
Nice fan made video to commemorate Zelda's 30th Anniversary! I've been playing through all the Zelda games lately to celebrate
Best Zelda anything I've seen in awhile
We are the Link and the Samus to another world!
We love you too Samus Aran!
Should do one like that for Luigi. Let's have another year
Nintendo would be wise to adopt this trailer, but it probably won't happen, because they are stupid like that.
I personally thought that although short, it was close to pure brilliance and it brought back so many memories that it actually made me experience a whole range of emotions. And to do that within the space of 1m20s is damn near magical...
A very, VERY admirable piece of work. Two big thumbs up.
What a truly exceptional video, encapsulating everything we love about Zelda in under two minutes! Brilliant.
Excellent! I'v got chills......they're multiplying
I remember seeing commercials for the original Legend of Zelda and being mesmerized by it. I then got it for my birthday and thought the gold cartridge was just magical. Good times.
Awesome!!
Nice video....oooo that shiny gold Zelda cart!
Why does it feel wrong that I want a metroid trailer because it has 30th anniversary to...
Needs more Zelda CDi.
Well made trailer. Very well made.
Very well done! This is why I have been a fan of the franchise for so long!
Yeah, that was really cool, and it brought the feels.
It reminds me of something I wrote many years ago:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/my0onw (click the blue Download box. Don't worry; it's just a Word doc.)
It's about a different game but the sentiment is very similar.
Paper Mario stickers on the cabinet under the TV took me out of the experience. I guess they were trying to make it look like the room was from the mid-80s when the first game released but that one detail killed it for me.
Just saying...
Short, sweet, and to the point. Great video!
Nintendo should hire these people to do their commercials. Geez.
Literally tears in my eyes. Beautiful through it's simplicity.
This video brought tears to my eyes. That is me sitting there, on the ground, in front of the TV, embarking on a great quest, in the mid 1980s. And I am still there, in sentiment, today.
Brilliantly done. I don't know what reaction the director was going for, but he/she got one out of me. Brilliantly done.
Can't stop pressing the replay button.
@Browny
Just pretend he is a vintage/retro kind of kid.
They should've got Liam Neeson to do the voice.
Wow! I remember it all so well. Way to go!
Wow that just gave me the chills. Zelda will forever be in my heart, and be my favorite video game series
@Browny I'm totally agree with you!
@rjejr What the ... ? You the old bag lady, I the most versatile artist on the planet, then. And although it's not a friendly thing to say, I'd trade her in for him any day of the week. What a great loss both for music and inspiration.
R.I.P. Prince Rogers Nelson.
You made my youth bearable and sang my most inner thoughts.
Sometimes it snows in April...
Beautiful video and also very emotional. Reminded me of my first Zelda experience. From OoT, to MM, to MC and onwards.. good memories.
That was great. I agree with others that a Metroid counterpart is needed and if it wasn't for my job overwhelming me I might be convinced to put one together. sigh
So... what are the chances that NX launches with a new Metroid game rather than a Federation Force? Pretty much zero if you are thinking the big 3D adventure type — according to the Metroid producer.
The only hope we have is a promise or in our wildest dreams a tech demo. The one possibility that could ease the non-itch-scratching-nature of Federation Force is a 2D iteration on the NX or 3DS. It's possible that has been in the works for awhile or that it could be finished in time.
It will be a sad year indeed if we get no promises and Federation Force lands in the forest and no one hears it fall.
Zelda is just the best <3
Simply outstanding.
That was freakin amazing.
So cornball
You guys are dorks.
Holy hell, that was cool!
This gave me the biggest chills ever! That was AMAZING!
If this was Robin Williams, it'd be even more amazing.
Then, now, forever? Is this the first sign of the Nintendo/WWE cross over I've been waiting for???!
This was friggin' beautiful
@Notoriousdrp Hahaha I was thinking the exact same thing.
Very neat. :]
It gave me chills.
@TheRealThanos I briefly considered using his symbol, but it seemed too obvious, and I had already switched to Her Majesty. She's going to be hard to follow up though.
@aaronsullivan "if it wasn't for my job overwhelming me"
You picked a good time for that, there is nothing going on here, just rumours and waiting, waiting and rumours, and worse than that Miitomo.
I loved it.
@rjejr Why too obvious? I'm an admirer and fan of his music, so I couldn't care less if anyone thinks it is obvious and you shouldn't either.
I just hate it that so many good people (both famous and everyday people) go way before their time, and practically useless people get to live well into their nineties.
Oh well, that's the universe for ya...
@TheRealThanos Obvious was perhaps a poor choice of words. What I really meant to say was longer winded - I didn't want to do it b/c I figured he was popular enough that somebody else likely would. Leonard Nimoy, Rowdy Roddy Piper, those guys are famous, but I didn't think anybody else would use them as avatars here. When, or if, Kieth Richards ever dies I'll use him. Though I'm betting he outlives me.
I also used the Queen b/c TW hates it when I bring up royalty.
@TheRealThanos I think this finally makes the US an official "3rd world country" when even chalk white english speakers are afraid to travel here.
http://www.cnbc.com/2016/04/22/uk-issues-travel-warning-for-southern-us-states.html
All I can say is "WOW"
@rjejr Well, that certainly is a switch of topic...
But since the Queen isn't a member of the LGBT community, I think the only reason she isn't going to travel to the States will be her age, and other priorities of course..
Now you told me why you have currently taken her as your avatar I can at least appreciate the humor behind it a little more.
I hate royalty myself as well. In the Middle Ages and early 1800's - 1900's they still had power and esteem, but nowadays they are only used to cut ribbons, open new museums or help business men in their endeavor to do business in foreign countries by taking them along on trips so they can mingle.
Other than that they are totally useless, which is why I said I'd rather have Prince (AND Michael Jackson, AND David Bowie AND Whitney Houston) back.
@TheRealThanos US President isn't much better than royalty, just figureheads beholden to the corporations and the Illuminati. This year's primaries are doing a good job of teaching my kids how rigged everything is. Trump may be a jerk, but he is correct about the rigged system, votes don't matter, they are all hand picked. And the Democrat superdelegates are really out in the open now. I really think they shoudln't even bother with the primaries, just let the 2 parties pick their candidate and stop with all the nonsense. Let people just "tweet" their choice and let Twitter count the votes, 1 per account. Sure, there will be fraud, but no more than there is now. President Kanye and VP Khole, it's all the same.
@rjejr Oh, I wasn't talking about royalty as opposed to "normal" modern day governments, and certainly not USA specific.
But the thing I did mean was that at the very least presidents and their ministers actually do something, aside from the fact that these things may either be good or bad, but they actually have power to do something, contrary to most royals.
Oh and please: I can just about handle Trump, but never EVER mention that pompous, narcissistic, dumb@ss tool of a n.. Kanye again.
I actually wish I was Thanos sometimes, if only to be able to eradicate persons like that from the face of the Earth with a flick of my Infinity gem-studded gloved finger...
What a grossly delusional caricature of a person, comparing himself with great minds like Leonardo da Vinci and interrupting other artist's award speeches (regardless of what you might think of them or their music) and Lord knows what other nonsense he has already spouted on TV. He is definitely not a great addition to the music industry or the world as a whole.
You know what? Why would I want to eradicate a kind old lady, just because she's the queen of England? I'll take it back.
So, I'll replace Queen Elizabeth with Kanye and trade HIM for Prince... The world will be a MUCH better place for it...
Very good!
@rjejr Well, when I get overwhelmed I tend to post a giant wall of text now and then because it's an easy escape. I'm fascinated about NX, but the daily rumor mill is producing the same flour every day and we can't mix it or bake it into anything yet.
As for miitomo, I've used it every day since launch and enjoyed it quite a bit. That one relies on having a couple other willing participants, though.
Also Star Fox is a huge hit here at home. Was there ever an article to discuss Star Fox controls now that some of us have actually played it?
@aaronsullivan "I'm fascinated about NX, but the daily rumor mill is producing the same flour every day and we can't mix it or bake it into anything yet."
So I'm back from my 2 day vacation, and apparently I missed a few things while I was away. Reading about 1,000 comments and replying to them all isn't really an option, but I had this email from you while I was away (no email on vacation, it's a rule.)
I have to say, one of the worst things to come out of Wednesday was just knowing we have at least 2 more months, probably longer, of NX rumours and leaks. I think you addressed this somewhere, maybe indirectly. I can't take it anymore.
Feels inbound. 3...2...1...Ohhhhhhhhh... sweet Jesus... * Pulls out OoT Cart, grasping it closely, lying on the floor *
