Re: Random: Check Out This Travel Nintendo Switch DIY Dock

Thierry

You can make something like this WAY cheaper and easier yourself.

Simply take a USB-C cable, plug one end into the port on the bottom inside of the dock, the other end into the bottom of the Switch itself, and voila! You can put the dock somewhere out of sight and simply lay the system itself down wherever you like, with just a single thin cable running to it. This works.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th March (Europe)

Bomberman 64 I'd have bought in a heartbeat if it was on Switch. That game is a classic, absolutely fantastic multiplayer and a great, challenging story mode! Here's hoping it'll come to Switch whenever Nintendo decides they want to bring VC over. :]

Re: Nintendo Switch Owners Will Have To Wait Longer And Pay More For RiME

Thierry

How is a 6-10 hour long digital version of an indie game 45 Euros? That's ludicrously insane. The physical version of BOTW is 60 Euros and besides how much better it is and how infinitely larger its development costs were - I've spent over 50 hours on that so far, and have done/seen maybe 5-10% of the game.

This game will most definitely fail terribly. Ah well, too bad for them. You reap what you sow.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Dock Scratching Your Screen? Try This DIY Fix

Thierry

I just got a large microfiber cloth which I put against the front part of the inside of my dock, held in place with simple rubber bands at the top and bottom.

I ordered a set of tempered glass screen protectors for launch, but they won't arrive until next week unfortunately. Still, even with that on my Switch's screen, I'll likely keep the protection inside my dock, just to be sure.

Re: Feature: A Nintendo Switch Launch Day Report from Tokyo, Japan

Thierry

Well. Seeing as this will get Pokémon and everything else on it, I can't see it selling less than 20 million at all. Probably much more. It will have every single Nintendo game on it, that's never happened before, they always had to split it between home and handheld systems. I mean, I honestly can't fathom a scenario where Switch is not a grandiose success. People like to boast about the incredible library of 3DS games, but Switch will logically be far superior because Nintendo won't have to spread themselves so thin across 2 separate devices anymore.

Re: Hands On: Striking a Chord with Yooka-Laylee

Thierry

Would be nice if they could give some sort of indication of when the game's due on Switch. :/ Surely they must have an inkling at least? This could end up releasing alongside the other versions, but I also wouldn't be surprised if this turned into a holiday release on Switch.

Re: Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons Are Disconnecting, And No One Seems To Know Why

Thierry

We do know why; it's because humans are mostly water, and water is excellent at absorbing lots of waves and frequencies, especially weak Bluetooth ones like the Joycon use. Blunty on YouTube explains it well, like alasdair91 mentioned above. https://youtu.be/nJBAp33tnNE

Only solution seems to be Nintendo increasing the strength of the Joycon's Bluetooth signal... If that's something that can be done through a firmware update. :/

Re: Virtual Console Will Not Be Ready For Nintendo Switch Launch

Thierry

Nintendo are the gaming company with the biggest, broadest and all-round best games catalog in the entire industry, they're sitting on a veritable goldmine of old games, yet confusingly they seem reluctant beyond belief to make use of it.

It's almost like they're terrified of actually capitalizing on all that instant profit. I honestly for the life of me don't understand it at all. They have barren lineups for their systems, especially at launch, their 3rd party support is Dreadful to say the least, and VC could easily be used to remedy this, to an extent. Their fanbase and customers are basically begging to throw money at Nintendo for classic games, but the company's just like, 'meh, no. Maybe sometime in the distant future. But we're not talking about it'.

Just why?

Re: Bethesda's Todd Howard "Can't Say" If Skyrim on Switch is the Special Edition

Thierry

By all means, Switch should be able to run the original version of Skyrim very easily, that's not even up for debate.

And with all the recent reports about how Switch is a dream and the easiest to develop for and port to, I find it impossible to believe Bethesda would take THIS LONG to get the game out if it's simply a port of the old game (what with the Skyrim footage at last fall's Switch unveil trailer, I figured it'd be a launch title, or at least a launch window game).

Perhaps the full special edition isn't doable, but I'm confident that whichever version releases will have major improvements beyond the original release.

Re: Talking Point: Lack of Nintendo Switch Details Close to Launch Made Wobbly Cam 'Leaks' Inevitable

Thierry

Maybe this is all we're going to get from Nintendo. They might think the info we got up until now is plenty. I don't think they're of the opinion the way the UI or eShop look matter, and the eShop/VC will very likely be extremely bare-bones and barren... So they probably don't want to emphasize that area. :/ Also, anyone expecting their software purchases to be carried over from 3DS/Wii U to Switch should probably realize by now that's not happening.

I'm expecting tons and tons of footage from early switch arrivals this coming week.

Re: Talking Point: The DLC Expansion Pass for Zelda: Breath of the Wild is Both Surprising and Inevitable

Thierry

Well... I'm rather okay with this. Let's see how the additional content turns out. I just hope the new stuff will be integrated seamlessly into the overall world, things like the additional story and dungeon portions. It would be awful if they were things you just select in a menu and then go there. Like the cave of shadows thing in Twilight Princess HD. :/ A seamless open world and experience is the main draw of the game, after all, as Nintendo themselves have been stating constantly.

Re: Poll: Does Nintendo Switch Need Streaming Apps and a Web Browser, Or Is It All About Games?

Thierry

Don't care about it, 'cos I'd never use any of such apps. A browser would be redundant imo, I don't believe anyone who says they'd miss one and claim they make great use of it on current systems. XD

Netflix and such I'm not bothered about since I have a smart TV, but before I owned it I would use my Wii U to watch Netflix, and I know people who do so with their systems currently. Same goes for YouTube I guess.

Re: NieR: Automata Designer is Open to the Idea of a Switch Port

Thierry

The only thing this tells us is that the guys at platinum simply do whatever they're paid to do. To be honest the joking comment about a SNES version only makes it less likely a Switch port is in the works - it would be entirely up to Square Enix.

I'd definitely prefer a Bayonetta 3 over this NieR game anyway, and I'm sure a lot of others would too.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Will Not Feature HD Rumble

Thierry

If the purpose was to provide exactly the same experience, then why did they improve the resolution and make the environmental sound effects better on Switch? This is just PR speak for 'sorry, developing and implementing accurate HD rumble into our most expensive and elaborate game ever (by far) would've cost too much time/effort/resources'. Which is understandable and perfectly fine, of course.

Re: Nintendo Switch Won't Have Video Streaming Services At Launch, But They're Being Considered

Thierry

@Grawlog moving games between a harddrive and the (portable) system itself is the exact opposite of ideal, whatever your personal opinion may be. If it were a stationary home console, then you'd have a point.

And yes, 2TB cards will be very expensive, but they're overkill anyway, and the ones with less storage will be cheap. I have a 500 GB harddrive for my Wii U and I've downloaded tons of full retail and smaller eShop and indie games over the years and I still have tons of room to spare. Nobody will need 2TB of storage, it's just that the option is there.
