@Anti-Matter "and some Pokemons can heal or support their team or debuff the opponents with saboteur skills."
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're suggesting, but the Pokémon games have already had this since the very beginning. There are many, many various moves that Pokémon can do that heal/buff teammates and status inflict/debuff opponents.
Ring Fit Adventure has become one of my favorite games ever, most of all because it doesn't just succeed as an exercise game, but also succeeds in its own right as a video game. Not only is it a genuinely good workout every play session, but it looks beautiful, sounds amazing, the writing is very amusing, the worldbuilding is delightful and intriguing, and the RPG-styled gameplay is so well-done in relation to the exercises.
After over three years of constant playing, I recently just finished the last world for the fifth time and passed EXP Level 700, on my way to 100% completing the game! Then I can officially say I've defeated fitness and stop exercising for the rest of my life lol.
@The_Nintendo_Expat Hey! Thanks for your reply! Sorry for the late response, but my notifications told me that you had responded to my previous post, but I missed that notification until just now, and for some reason I don't see your response here in this comments section, only in my notification email. But I thought I'd still answer so as to not leave you hanging.
To answer your question about if I played the OG F-Zero on SNES, I was born in 1996, so I grew up more on the GameCube, but my parents had an SNES that I still played a lot on. But they never got F-Zero, so I never got around to actually playing it until it came to SNES Switch Online. When I finally did, it was at the same time as when I started getting into 99. And so it's probably harder for me to tell the difference between the two, other than the obvious additional actions in 99 like spinning and boosting at any time.
For what it's worth, despite preferring 99's control scheme, I still do play the Classic Race mode a lot in it, too. Though without the ability to boost at any time and instead only once per lap, it tends to feel to me like the original game mechanics favor the faster vehicles like the Fire Stingray more lol.
@The_Nintendo_Expat You have every right to your opinion. Having played both the original F-Zero and F-Zero 99, I personally like 99's controls more, but I can understand you preferring the original. Everyone has a different take on things and that's completely okay. 🙂
Honestly, my preference for 99 is more based on the visuals, which are a lot easier on my eyes than the original. The Switch doesn't have Mode 7 but it still does Mode 7 better than the SNES lol.
@Samuel-Flutter Just confirmed that on the Super Mario Wiki, yeah. After reading it, I can say that, while it's a nice epilogue, I think I'm fine without it being in the real book. The original ending is good enough for me.
Regarding the book missing the new pages, based on what I've seen online, aren't the new pages actually located in Galaxy 2 and concern the events of that game specifically? Or were there also new pages added in Galaxy 1?
If it's the former case and the book still has all the pages from Galaxy 1, then that makes it worth it in my eyes.
I'm sorry, I understand people preferring the colored buttons of the Europe and Japan controllers, but as an American, I've always really liked the contrast between those two shades of violet. I think they look really good next to each other.
As a kid, I finished everything in Banjo-Tooie except for the two races against Canary Mary in Cloud Cuckooland... I just couldn't do it and I didn't know why at the time. Her rubberbanding was absolutely crazy.
But last year, I decided to boot up my old save file and look up the strategy for beating her online, and with that knowledge I was able to win both races and finally declare the save file complete! Woohoo!
Count me as one of the people who prefers a stable frame rate over a high frame rate. I really can't believe how much distaste so many people seem to have for 30 fps. Even going so far as to compare it to watching a slideshow? Seriously? Come on now.
Something I'd like to point out about Reggie and Bowser beyond their roles as president... You could probably count the number of memes Reggie was known for on at least two hands. But Bowser wasn't really known for much in the way of viral jokes beyond his name. Here's hoping Pritchard can get a few good jokes to herself! 😉
YES! The lack of indicators for the locations of the P-Switches and Peach Medallions was my biggest complaint with Mario Kart World. Super glad to see that fixed! 😀
Never played Pac-Man World 1, but I did play and love Pac-Man World 2 as a kid, so this is exciting for me. The original was quite difficult to 100% complete though, so I don't think I ever did it at the time.
@YunoboCo I think it's only a key card on Switch 2, while it's a normal card on Switch 1.
@PharoneTheGnome Donkey Kong Bananza doesn't really seem like an open-world game, though? It's more like Super Mario Odyssey and Donkey Kong 64 before it where the levels are expansive but are also self-contained and separate from each other, and not all together on one enormous map.
Perhaps that's still too big for you in comparison to the linear levels in the Donkey Kong Country games, which is perfectly fine, but I wouldn't say it's as big as the open worlds in games like Mario Kart World or Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
I'm sorry, but Mario Kart World is awesome to me. And I actually love the open world, because it really makes the Mushroom Kingdom feel cohesive and alive.
@maulinks Have to disagree with that statement. Yoshi's Woolly World and Yoshi's Crafted World are really beautiful looking games with really fun gameplay IMO.
And Yoshi's Island DS, especially its bonus levels and especially if you're going for 100%, is actually very, very difficult, much more so than the original Yoshi's Island.
North America / Europe because unlike the Japanese cover it shows the missile carrier (the red truck in the back) that you spend the bulk of the game trying to protect from exploding by destroying everything in its way. It's the game's central gimmick so I think it's better to show it off on the cover.
Apparently, through the use of spawning Ganondorf in-game, a glitch was found last week that lets you get max hearts and stamina, which I was really thrilled about! I did a glitch to get max hearts and stamina in BotW, and I was hoping that a similar glitch would be found in ToTK.
And then moments later I learned that the glitch is no longer possible thanks to Nintendo patching Zelda Notes to prevent the glitched Autobuild spawns. Very sad about that. ☹️☹️☹️
It's actually technically not true that Piranha Plant Pipeline is only playable in Mario Kart Tour! There's a mod of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe called CTGP (Custom Track Grand Prix) that adds a bunch of new tracks to the game, and one of them is Piranha Plant Pipeline.
I honestly can't agree with Mario Kart World being only a 7. It's some of the most fun I've had with a game in a while. I do have some problems with it, but not enough to drag the game down any lower than a 9 for me.
I do understand the issue some people have with the new update, and I will agree that having more options is better, but it doesn't really affect me as I rarely play games online if they have a local multiplayer option. And local multiplayer in Mario Kart World lets you choose between a three-lap track or an intermission track.
(Plus, I personally actually like the intermission tracks. <_<)
Still, I won't take issue with the people rating the game a 7. But I will take issue with those giving it a 0. I seriously can't see how the update is so bad that you start hating the entire game!
@DonkeyKongBigBoy Basically, the biggest change in the new update is that when selecting the "Random" option for the next course in an online wireless VS race, the chances of that next random race being an "intermission" race between two different tracks as opposed to a standard three-lap race on one track has increased.
Some people aren't happy about this change because they prefer the three-lap races over the intermission races.
I personally don't mind it much as I like the intermission races and rarely play online anyway, and doing VS mode locally lets you select on your own whether it'll be a three-lap race or an intermission race.
@Dev-N Yeah, for sure, you are definitely allowed to have your opinion. And I don't have zero problems with the game, either (the lack of completion indicators in Free Roam comes to mind for me, especially). My initial post was a bit of an immediate gut reaction, I'm guessing.
@PepperMintRex @MTMike87 @traceman @TAttila @Bigmanfan @IronMan30 I appreciate all of the nice responses from everyone here. Definitely makes me feel better now. Thanks, everyone! 👍
As someone who is loving Mario Kart World, it's very frustrating seeing all of the backlash against the game, especially after the recent update.
I'm not saying people aren't allowed to feel how they want to, but it doesn't help in making me feel a little alone in being overall really satisfied with the game.
I always really hated how in Mario Kart 8 that if you played in multiplayer, the auto-controls would always default to "On" for players 2 through 4.
It made it rather exhausting when sharing the game with more casual players and having to explain the auto-control options every time and ask whether they wanted them on or not.
@Anachronism I recently learned that you can dodge a blue shell entirely if you use the new rewind function at the last second before it hits you. Doing so has actually saved some Knockout Tour runs for me. 😉
In my opinion, the best thing about Mario Kart World is that it is the epitome of the game design vision I've loved about the series in the last few entries, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe especially.
Namely, that the Mushroom Kingdom isn't just a collection of abstract obstacle-filled levels where all you do is reach the flagpole and win. Rather, it feels like a fully realized, interconnected world, where Mario Kart is a major televised event watched by millions of viewers, and where there are real businesses that provide valued services like Fuzzy Battery, Morton Construction, Boomerang Bros. Airlines, Rainbow Exploration Agency, etc.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was already fantastic in this regard, but Mario Kart World makes it even better. Various aspects like how you can travel directly from one track to another in real-time instead of merely going through menu screens, that when you are at a high-enough altitude you can see nearby tracks off in the distance, the landscape being peppered with realistic architecture like power lines, suspension bridges, freeways, and ski resorts, and lastly the end credit visuals, really sell the Mushroom Kingdom as being a inhabited place that you'd definitely want to go and visit. I think it's the closest the Mario franchise as a whole has gotten to making its universe feel real.
Overall, a 10/10 game for me. Oh, and it has the best Rainbow Road in the entire series. =)
My first Zelda game, so I might be biased, but I've never understood why people disliked the sailing in the original so much, when you get to listen to the Great Sea music, one of the best songs in the entire series in my opinion.
Plus, seeing the islands come into view over the horizon as you approach is really cool. It even takes the height of the island into account, like how the Forsaken Fortress actually appears into view first before the smaller islands around it do.
Pretty unfortunate that she seems to have been let go far more unceremoniously compared to Charles Martinet. Peach and Toad are almost if not just as important to the Mario franchise as Mario and Luigi are, after all.
@FlyingDunsparce Yeah, that's pretty lame, honestly. They could've made it work by having the Tingle Tuner bring up a simulated GBA screen within the GameCube NSO app that you could then switch to at any time while playing the main game.
I remember playing FF Tactics Advance on my GBA when I was a kid. It was fun but also really tough, and I never managed to finish it, even with the Nintendo Power strategy guide.
I'll still be happy with my Switch 1, but unlike seemingly (and a little strangely, to me) every single person here, I very excited for the Switch 2. 👍
Chiming in again to say that the people here commenting things like, "This is toxic positivity, everyone will just be blindly praising it, why would anyone defend such a garbage series?"... Saying that seriously just feels like toxic negativity to me.
Again, just because someone is liking something that may be flawed, it doesn't mean they are ignoring the flaws. It means that they can still like it despite the flaws.
I just really dislike all the assumptions being made in this comment section.
As someone who still appreciates Pokémon despite its flaws (I really liked Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl), this sounds very nice.
I really don't understand why people here are thinking this will only be toxic positivity... Toxic negativity exists too... And just because you enjoy something doesn't mean you are being oblivious to its issues.
The "let people enjoy things" mentality can be annoying, yes, but I think the "don't ask questions, just consume product" mentality is equally annoying.
