I picked up Wario Land, Wario Land 2, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Bros., and Super Mario Bros. 2 on the 3DS. Next month, I’ll complete my 3DS wishlist (which I’ve had for a couple years now) and buy Kirby’s Adventure, A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country (one of my favorite games ever…I already own 2 and 3), Tails Adventure, Mario Golf GBC, and Pocket Card Jockey. And of course, I’ll still be making headway in DQ XI. Cheers!

Still progressing in DQXI. I’m currently around the 50 hour mark. Also, I recently picked up OlliOlli Switch Stance on an eShop sale and have been delighted by it! Wow is it hard, though. I’m having a hard time not reverting to Tony Hawk/2D platform mechanics (using ‘B’ to jump). Loving the challenge, though!
Happy gaming, everyone!

Dragon Quest XI has its hooks in me. I came down with a nasty head cold (took two rapid tests and thankfully came up negative for Covid), so I spent some time with The Luminary. I was excited to play this game, but it’s exceeded my expectations. It’s unbelievably gorgeous and I’m loving the slow flow of the story.

Other than DQ, I’ll probably mix in some Smash when I have the time. Happy gaming, everybody!

Currently about six hours into Dragon Quest XI and absolutely loving it! This game feels like a warm and cozy blanket. I also started SMT IV on my 3DS, and will probably keep trying to dig in daily to Smash Ultimate.

I went a little crazy and picked up Slay the Spire on sale, a physical copy of Ni no Kuni II that was on deep discount, a physical of Death’s Door from Special Reserve games, and a few Altus games during their 3DS sale (SMT IV Apocalypse, Radiant Historia, and Person Q2). My poor backlog.

Cheers everyone! Hope 2022 is treating you all well.

Re: My Nintendo Physical Rewards Have Disappeared In North America

I miss the discounts you could unlock with platinum and gold points. Picked up a lot of great 3DS games like Earthbound and Oracle of Seasons and Ages. With the physical rewards, it felt like you were redeeming points to unlock the chance to buy an item for $7. It was disappointing how cheap most of those items were, too (like sticker packs). For me, it wasn’t worth it and I’ve stopped paying attention to My Nintendo.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch OLED Model

SuperBiny64

I canceled my pre-order. The screen would be nice, as would the LAN port (and the beautiful new aesthetics of the system), but I just can’t justify the leap when my launch Switch is still humming right along. Hoping they develop something in the future that justifies an upgrade for me! It would be nice to have a lot of extra storage on the system as well as a RAM boost.

I’m late to the thread, but I’ve been slowly chipping away at Ori and the Blind Forest. Even though the world is gorgeous and the music is chef’s kiss incredible, I don’t feel compelled to explore every inch of it like I do Cvstodia or Hollownest. The combat is also pretty weak. Still, a lovely experience.

I just started playing Descenders, and WOW is that a wonderful game! I’ve always been a sucker for extreme sports games, and I can see this one taking up all my free time. Definitely one of the rougher games graphically that I’ve seen on the Switch, but it doesn’t deter from the fun, in my opinion.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend of gaming and fall weather!

Re: Nintendo Celebrates 20 Years Of GameCube In New Smash Bros. Event

The GameCube and GBA were the systems that made me fall in love with gaming. I’ll never forget going down to the our local Kmart in small town Montana every Sunday and playing the Luigi’s Mansion demo over and over and over. I was a middle school kid who thought he’d seen the pinnacle of graphics. I mean, that dust that Luigi kicks up as he stumbles around the mansion…wow! I nearly wore that demo system out.
I finally received one as a gift a few months later (I think Christmas) with a copy of Luigi’s Mansion, and it was instant love.

The first party games were incredible. While my friends were playing Halo, I was playing through Metroid Prime and falling in love with the Metroid series. I still have a soft spot for Luigi’s Mansion, and Melee was unbelievable. Even Super Mario Sunshine was a standout for me on the system.

Weirdly, I ended up amassing a large collection of third party games, and poured hundreds of hours of Tony Hawk (3,4,THUG), and the SSX series (Tricky, 3, On Tour). I would actually wake up a couple hours early so I could play NBA Street Vol. 2 before I had to head to my high school classes.

I’ll never forget the summer nights before I left for University, 2 am with my Wavebird controller in my hands, chatting with my high school girlfriend while I worked my way down the mountain in SSX On Tour.

This might be a bit overly sentimental for a small little cube, but this system was with me through some of the most formative years of my life, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Just made it through the Ginso Tree escape in Ori and the Blind Forest. What an excellent game so far!

Currently taking Elissa Steamer through THPS 1+2. This will be my sixth play through and I still can’t get enough.

Only four more challenges to complete in Smash Ultimate! Trying to take down the 9.9 Classic mode challenge with Chrom.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tony Hawk has his talons in me. Currently playing through the first game with my boy Rodney Mullen. A little over halfway through Chasm, which I’m very much enjoying. Very much a comfort food Metroidvania. I’m still trying to dip into Obra Dinn when I have time, and I really need to start Oxenfree! Happiest of weekends to everyone.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 19th)

SuperBiny64

I started Return of the Obra Dinn last week, but I need a good chunk of uninterrupted time to sit down and fully understand what is happening in that game, which I don’t have this weekend. Rivals of Aether sunk its hooks into me, so I’ll probably be dipping in and out of that. Happy weekend, everyone!

After nearly 130 hours, I finally finished Xenoblade Chronicles DE and Future Connected. Probably going to mess around in Streets of Rage 4, Scott Pilgrim, and Rivals of Aether before I properly start another game. Considering Hyper Light Drifter, Bastion, or Return of the Obra Dinn as the next candidates. Happy E3 everyone! May the odds be ever in our favor 🤞
