Another fun week in the Nintendo Life is finished, and it had some interesting bits and pieces of news. The highlight was probably Nintendo's Q3 financial results, which generally showed that Nintendo is making a lot of money; even shareholders are relatively happy, crikey. For you NFT watchers, multiple projects were abandoned on that front, while elsewhere MLB The Show 22 is coming to Switch(!), Yacht Club Games unveiled Mina the Hollower (it's already pretty good), and Pokemon Legends: Arceus has sold well because of course it has.
Also, as a little note, the lovely Jon Cartwright has now left Nintendo Life to pursue an exciting new opportunity, and we wish him well.
After all of that it's time to chill out and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

It's been a busy week so I've made little to no progress, over the last 5 days, in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. I'm planning to get stuck into that, and I have a Mini Review to work on too which should be fun.
Elsewhere I'm still enjoying Hitman 1 through the 'Trilogy' release recently; I successfully killed someone with a giant moose ornament, so I seem to be getting into the swing of it. I've also started another playthrough of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order because I'm a fan and a nerd.

I haven't finished Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but I'm far more interested in the grindy explorey bits than the boss battles, and I can sense that I'm coming up on some big ones, so I might play something else for a bit! Maybe Murder By Numbers? It's a fun little Picross/Ace Attorney mashup.
I just got Skyward Sword, because there was a double gold points deal AND I got 10% off an eShop gift card with our handy code "NLIFE10". I'm not just doing an advert here, it was genuinely quite nice to get a little discount. But I'm not allowed to play that until my partner's finished his big work project which won't be until March

Another GameCube heavy weekend with The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and SoulCalibur II. Possibly wrapping up my Front Mission campaign on Super Nintendo, too.
Game of the week is Bloodroots. This unexpected physical edition late week arrival ensures this weekend will be a (literal) bloody good time.

So you know last weekend I said I wasn't going to buy Pokémon Legends: Arceus yet? Well, I fibbed… sorry. I've been playing it on and off for about a week and I've only just fought that Kleavor thingy, so hopefully this weekend I'll be able to crank out a few hours here and there and make some decent progress.
I don't really have any other plans for now. To be honest, I'm just eagerly awaiting the launch of OlliOlli World next week; that game looks incredible and I think it's just lovely that they named it after me.

Hello. This weekend, if I manage to find a little bit of spare time, I’ll be grabbing my Switch and attempting to hide somewhere my kids and wife can’t find me so I can finally make some actual progress in both Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Dungeon Encounters.
I’m loving both of these games so far, and Arceus is actually my first proper go at a Pokémon joint, so I’m determined to stick with them and finish them off without getting distracted by something else. I’ve also recently picked up Sturmwind EX and have been having an absolute blast with that, so I may try to crowbar a few hours in with that one too. Have a good weekend whatever you’re up to or playing!
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!

Almost at the end of Ender Lilies so I’ll be finishing that tonight. I knew it had a nice art style from the screenshots but I’ve actually been pretty blown away by how nice it looks in action. Definitely the prettiest game I’ve played on my OLED Switch yet. Really fun gameplay too and a great soundtrack. Probably the first Metroidvania that I’ve played that’s been interesting and engaging enough for me to 100% complete instead of just rushing through the story like I usually end up doing.
I think next I’ll probably start up either Death’s Door or Unpacking as I’m not quite ready to jump into my next lengthy VN or JRPG quite yet. Also ready to take a bit of a break from The Binding of Isaac: Repentance (after 500+ hours since the DLC dropped) and I’m leaning towards Two Point Hospital as my new game to play on the side while watching YouTube.
This week I will be mostly playing
Pokémon Black 2
Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Finished the third area this morning. Rank 8. I get sidetracked all the time. The game's just fun.
The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match
I've been playing KoF with my friend almost every weekend for a good while now. Switching games soon as KoF XV is out in couple of weeks. Pretty excited for that one.
I played DDR PS2 games for this weekend.
⬅️⬇️⬆️➡️🤓
1. Dance Dance Revolution MAX 2 USA
2. Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA 2 USA
Genesis Shmups on my Sega Genesis/Everdrive
SWITCH
Borderlands 2 - haven't played this in a while, picking it up again this weekend!
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - online matches with friends!
PC
God of War - I just can't put this one down, amazing game!
Team Fortress 2 - playing with friends tonight!
Have a good weekend everyone!
Cruisin Blast due to the recent sale. Great fun.
Good luck with your new direction, Jon. You will be missed.
Righty, I just finished Halo (bloody hell warthogs are shambolic to control!) and I think my affair with my series S is over. Back to Switch...and I'm looking forward to diving into Pokemon Legends.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Very recently got a side hustle writing for a publication about film and video games (finally doing something with that degree 4 years out of uni) so my days off from my main job shall be spent pitching and writing articles over there. I feel my gaming time is therefore going to become much more limited hereon out but I have recently played through the first two Oddworld games and am now on Strangers Wrath, so will be playing that when I get the chance.
The first game is a damn masterpiece and rocketed it’s way into my top ten of all time. Munch’s Oddysee was very... repetitive and, honestly, a bit of a slog (not that kind). From something like a 9/10 to maybe a 5 or 4/10.
Having only played an hour, Strangers Wrath seems really great, though. I could see Munch’s Oddysee straining to make itself work in trying to adapt the mechanics of the 2D title into 3D and it just didn’t really happen. I’m really glad they went in a completely different and genuinely original direction for the next one
I'm doing the same as @KateGray: playing my physical copy of Murder by Numbers (imported from Play-Asia, they have the exclusive right). I highly recommend it to fans of Ace Attorney and Picross.
Other than that: Pokémon Legends Arceus and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 + going back to Octopath Traveler and Final Fantasy X-2.
Still Arceus, still awesome!
Is it just me or are there problems loading comments?
I played The Dead Tree of Ranchiuna yesterday. It's a walking simulator with decent graphics, but the environments are too samey. The story is the worst thing about the game, though. The characters are all horrible and their actions make no sense.
I've finished Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc! It was cool and unforgettable experience! It's 4th best game in my life, from games that I've played before. I cried while watching credits and listening to Saisei -rebuild-. And, in Hyper Light Drifter – Special Edition I've killed my first boss, Crow King/Raven King(?). That's all what I've played on this week. Have a good weekend everyone!
AI: The Somnium Files (amazing story, up there with 13 Sentinels and NieR Replicant for best stories in a game in recent memory.) Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, thinking about starting Final Fantasy 1 (Final Fantasy Origins version on Vita) while we continue to wait for the pixel remasters on Switch.
@wazlon Nope, not only you. I have this kind of problem too.
More Pokemon Legends Arceus! I think I'm coming up on the end of the story, I took down the fifth noble and I've moved the plot on a bit since then. I'm still having a blast with the game! I managed to find a shiny Tentacruel, so that was a fun surprise.
Outside of the Switch, with Kirby and the Forgotten Land coming soon, I decided I really should get around to playing the other main series Kirby games I have yet to finish. I started Kirby's Dream Land 3 via the Wii's Dream Collection and finished the second world last night. It's fun, but it feels like a big step back from Super Star. I'd like to get back to .hack//Infection on my PS2 as well. Maybe some Old School RuneScape, but I kinda burned out after the first few days of Leagues III, so I might take a bit more of a break. Don't want to wait too long since the event's timed, though.
I'm enjoying my first ever playthrough of Chrono Trigger at the moment.
DUSK! Such a good game. My kids have randomly got back in to Five Nights at Freddy’s, my son is playing Ultimate Custom Night and my daughter FNAF 4, I think. All on our own Switch, you’re welcome Nintendo 😅 I’ve noticed a few FNAF games on the eShop charts, have they got a new lease of life or something? Don’t seem to be on sale.
@Vyacheslav333 me too
I'm finishing Murder by Numbers — already at A rank at the final case. But I missed one puzzle in the third case, as did many. Here's a spoiler-less hint from Steam: "When a character called Crispin or something similar turns up, make sure you do all your inspects first in the bar or you can miss something".
The new recruits should have a default presence as usual, but a change in overall weekend plans, besides scratching out my laptop ambitions, has left me with a lot less home WiFi than planned, and I don't feel like dripfeeding Ary and the Secret of Seasons' 11 Gb through mobile internet which has been extra clunky this week. Even the 5+ Gb of Neverwinter Nights and 2+ Gb of Die for Valhalla or Demon's Rise may end up waiting... but at least the "lightweights" like Mystery Mine, Despotism 3K and Super Hiking League look like a given. Otherwise, my Switch library is likely to see various amounts of activity in Children of Morta, Borderlands, Saints Row 3, Puzzle Quest and Rogue Legacy, Torchlight 2, Bioshock 2, Akiba's Trip, Fuga and DerQ plus whatever else grabs me by the neck scruff less expectedly.
Got ambitions for more [3]DS (Spirit of Justice, Sudoku Gridmaster, Valentia and Endless Frontier) and Vita (SotN, God Eater, Blue Reflection), but there are also a couple remaining chapters of the available story to cover in Tales of Crestoria before I'm pressing F for this underrated mobile JRPG on early Monday in my timezone. It's getting shut down way too prematurely, and I sure am gonna miss it. (—.—)7 The cast, main and side stories, themes, dialogues - it all was impressive even by Tales standards.
I'm into the third case of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles 2: Resolve, and I've got a good majority of the day to myself, so itll be a cross between that and some of my home arcades (perhaps I'll play through a game or two on my MVSX). After a slow start, I really enjoyed the 2nd case of this game, but now the 3rd case has a slow start. I think I like Adventures more, but Resolve is still good. Maybe things will pick up more today.
Pokemon Legends for me too. I’m still in the first area it’s just too much fun getting distracted.
The kids are a bit young to get the hang of it but they are having fun running around too.
Final fantasy x. Getting near the end I think, ready to move on to something else. Not sure I’ll actually finish this weekend as limited gaming time as ever. Also got Baba is you, albeit for the iPad. Lovely brain- scratchiness.
Pokémon Arceus and some Diablo 2 farming most likely. I did finish the second season of Witcher last night, so I’m also in the mood for some Witcher 3 Or continuing my third Skyrim run that I started a couple weeks ago…. So little time, so many games!
Have a good weekend everyone!
I've FINALLY fixed my joy cons, so planning mario party superstars with my family for the first time. Also facing waterblight ganon and 100%ing Mario Galaxy (even the luigi bit).
Still playing through Ni No Kuni II and loving it at the moment.
Animal Crossing New Horizons (I can't believe that I am still playing this and creating new things on my island!)
Immortals Fenyx Rising: I liberated Athena and Aphrodite and I am finally getting into the swing of the whole game system. Yes, it is similar to BotW, but the dialog, the humor, is so much fun.
Rush Rally 3: The Rush Rally Origins is great, so is this game!
Happy gaming everyone!
I went out of my comfort zone and picked up Velocity 2X, it's my first shmup (well it kind of is a shmup) since Geometry Wars on the Wii and that's been fun.
Probably some more Immortals Fenyx Rising and some sWitcher 3 when I feel like some adventure. Also have been feeling an itch for more Steamworld Heist after picking up Dig and finishing that. And always some 30fps locked Fortnite 🥲
@wazlon @Vyacheslav333 @andyg1412
Me too. Seems to happen on the mobile site when the adverts don't load. I have submitted a bug report. Perhaps others can do the same?
@Bucket Hi, I was tempted to get this, as I like these type of games. I’m quite a graphics snob though 😂 would you still recommend it please?
@AmplifyMJ I love Dusk, it’s awesome. I’m crap at it, but it’s still awesome 😂
Switch OLED: Pokémon Arceus
Xbox Series X: Dying Light 2
PS5: Uncharted Collection
Will keep me busy until Horizon Forbidden West drops in a few weeks! Have a great weekend everyone! Happy gaming!
I've unlocked the third dungeon in Atelier Ryza 2 and confessed my undying best-friendship to (spoiler) with bracelets and all. Is it my imagination, or do they make it sound like there's quite a bit more than friendship at stake here?
I'm loving the game. Hoping to be done by the time Atelier Sophie 2 comes out.
I loved Murder By Numbers!
This weekend I'll mainly be playing Luigi's Mansion 3, but also a bit of Arceus and Picross S6.
@Ooyah Thanks, it's working on a desktop computer but not on my mobile.
Gonna continue grinding out Legends: Arceus. Never thought I would enjoy a Pokémon game for once.
Oh no - I hadn’t heard about Jon C’s departure! I always thought of him as the brains of NL’s videos, while Zion was the heart and lovely Alex the wry sense of humor. I’ll miss Jon’s encyclopedic insights and oh so calming voice. Best of luck to you, Jon!
I’ve got a baby shower to attend and the usual weekend chores, but will squeeze in time to play more Spelunky (finally made it to Ice Caves last week) and collect another coin or 2 in Into the Breach. Plus after preordering on May 14, 2021, my LRG collectors edition of Castlevania Anniversary Collection finally arrived this week! It was a looong wait but oh so worth it. I’ll probably dig into that a bit too, if the kiddos don’t hog the TV playing Pokémon Arceus. 😅
Wishing everyone a fun weekend!
@MattAllsopp I’ve been playing it handheld with AirPods in at night, it can be pretty creepy in places! Such a fun game though
I'm going with Ty the Tasmanian Tiger!!! This first game is excellent in the way that only game from this era were. I'm looking forward to booting the second one up immediately afterwards
I'd also love to get lost in an RPG. I am technically playing Dragon Quest 7 but it's just... Fun to play in episodes? But then I end up putting it down an hour or so later
Murder by Numbers 2 when?
@BreathingMiit That's a classic
Playing Sekiro on Xbox One. I'm usually hesitant with FromSoftware games, but this one really clicked with me. I even beat Gyobu on my first try!
@wazlon
I sent NL a video of it happening, so fingers crossed!
Have been up till late reading a Tim weaver book called Chasing the dead, had it for about 2 years, absolutely brilliant! Tim is an Xbox world 360 and n64 legend. Is reading the new video games? Anyway gonna dip into the mega man 8 bit games, and curiously outlast 2 xx
Super Mario Sunshine via 3D All Stars, I beat those red guys in the resort level. Tbh, I'm kind of loving it. I also played some Fire Emblem, only exploring the monastery and one side battle today. I also played some Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. Such a fun game.
On XSX, mostly Rare Replay and Fallout 4. Fallout 4 is so good. If you have a chance, play it.
Anyway, have a good weekend everyone.
Murder By Numbers is definitely an Ace Picross/Ace Attorney mashup…but fun? Ehhhh…
Boring story, unlikable characters, forgettable music and mediocre Picross. As a big fan of both Picross and (especially) Ace Attorney, I’d say it was one of the most disappointing games I’ve ever played. I really, really wanted to like it.
Maybe they’ll make MBN2 some day and it’ll be better. I’d love to feel the same way you do about it.
Anyway, I need to spend some time with Arceus. It was a busy week and I’m still only about five hours in. Really fun so far though!
Me and my wife: Just Dance 2021 online. (today is aerobics day and not bodybuilding)
And, as usual, a bit of Mario Kart 8 and WarioWare, 8 rounds. Here..the one who wins can choose what to do with the other in bed lol I don't know if I can write this here
Shovel Knight: Canadian Edition, tale of the 4 feet of snow we just got.
Arceus & Tetris 99! Played some Mario Party Superstar last night and mannnnn I already need new boards
Since getting my Xbox Series S, been using Game Pass to play back through the Halo games and now playing my first unplayed title; Halo 5. However I would like to get back into a JRPG or mecha strategy game. Toying with Trails of Sky II on Vita, a Tails game on the PS4, Gundam G Generation Genesis on Switch of SRW Taisen on GBA.
Have been playing a lot of PSVR lately- Wanderer just dropped, a dull-length time-traveling escapade which I've been quite impressed with given the age of the hardware. The interactivity is off the charts. As for Switch, probably plugging away at No More Heroes 1.
Still enjoying casually working away at Arceus. I like the exploring bits best.
Cashed in 10,000 points at Gamestoppo and picked up Grow: Song of the Evertree for $15, which I'm loving. It's a great game.
I think I'm the final hour of legends arceus. So with that said, I'll have to do some thinking about what my next game will be..
Options"
-XC2( most likely since I'm halfway done)
-heaven dust( also very likely since it's a short one).
-deaths door
-crosscode
Just beat the campaign in Legends although I'm gonna be spending a lot of time working through all the side quests and postgame, not to mention filling out the PokeDex!
Got my PS5 last month and have spent about the last month playing on that but I'm waiting on some big PS5 releases in late February and the middle of March so I've decided to jump back to the Switch and finally give Legends Arceus a go and two hours in I'm really impressed so far. This has to be the most I've enjoyed a Pokemon game since B2W2. And alongside it I think I'll playing a small portion of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles when I need a break. I was intending to play Arceus eventually but Kate's article on both of these really helped me make that decision now rather than later.
Pokémon Arceus. Is ruling in my life. I even got Leafeon early on. Loving this game.
@MattAllsopp the graphics are actually rather good. I actually got a bit of a Skyrim vibe for the most part. There are some genuinely nice vistas at times, too. The lighting effects are OK, too.
So from a graphics perspective, it's worth a look. I'd check the video or screenshot on the store to be sure, though.
No more ACNH or Mario Kart. SMT V is collecting dust. All I play now is Pokémon Arceus.
Pokemon Legends really enjoying it, Just picked up Mario Party Superstars which is a real blast especially with the online play!
FINALLY, a lazy weekend! It helps that I'm snowed in. I'm still playing the usual suspects - Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Chapter 8) and Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Luma Pools) - and hope to make some significant progress in both. Besides some needed cleaning, I also hope to get a start on Super Mario Maker Live, also known as this beauty:
I doubt I'll finish it this weekend, but it'll make for a nice on/off project for a few days.
I finished the Switch remake of Link’s Awakening this week. Such a great 2D Zelda. This is my second play through; I played the GBC version on 3DS VC last year. I personally like it and A Link Between Worlds much better than A Link To The Past (but I don’t have much nostalgia for ALttP, just rented it as a kid a couple times when I was too young to figure it out).
I have resumed playing Minish Cap on the Wii U VC. I paused playing it a few months back after getting frustrated with getting stuck too much. I’ve had to look things up more than I like to.
I also started Metroid Fusion (Wii U VC) for the first time.
I may also play some Luigi’s Mansion 3 with my son. We are both enjoying playing through it together.
So I’ll be switching between those and possibly some of the other games I have started but not completed recently: Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker, Banjo Kazooie, Crash 4, Dicey Dungeons, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania….
I’ll probably finish Captain Toad in a few more sessions. It isn’t super challenging, but there is something about the puzzles that I really like anyway.
Castle Crashers Remastered and Mario Party Superstars. Also started messing around in Mario 64 just to test the emulation on NSO and ended up getting sucked into it again, I think it's legally required I finish my playthrough now
Been playing through Bloodborne again. It's an incredible game, but man does it drive me crazy sometimes. I lost 30000 blood echoes last night. It was as if the game just decided that I needed to loose all that progress and did everything in its power to make it happen.
@jon128 I played through the main campaign of Captain Toad while it was a free trial the other week, I wasn't expecting to like it half as much as I did.
Mahjong by Microsoft (Android) - Daily challenges like always.
Contre Jour (Windows Phone) - Like a artistic take on Cut The Rope.
Ridiculous Marathon (Windows Phone) - Still enjoying in small bursts.
Never really been into Pokemon, yet I've played 45hrs of Arceus already. Overall, its really fun.
Hopefully some Dungeon encounters, and Gunvolt Chronicles 2
I finished up Shin Megami Tensei V last week and it was a total blast! It started to drag slightly towards the end but I'll definitely be doing a new game plus playthrough. I heard that if you do a "reborn" ng+ playthrough it only takes 3-4 hours to get to the final boss.
Anyway my friend recommended me this game called Fossil Fighters. I've never heard of it before but I started it a few days ago. So far I'm really digging it! (No pun intended 😜)
@Bucket Thank you for the feedback. I’ll give it a go, plus it’s not breaking the bank either 👍🏻😊
My wife and I bought Murder By Numbers a few years ago. After a few hours, we hated it so much we called Nintendo and got a refund. We're both liberal, but that game's narrative was so stupidly created in a lefty bubble, we couldn't take it. It was as obnoxious as if the game was all about MAGA or something — just the other side of that same coin.
Rocket League Snow Day mode. That's hockey puck mode. It's really hitting the spot lately. If your ball handling skills aren't great, it's a nice change of pace, since the puck doesn't bounce much. So, in a way, it's a good mode for newbs & more casual players.
Mario Kart 8 200cc time trials
Continuing with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Atelier Ryza. Also squeezing in Mario Party Superstars and Windjammers 2.
Seems like people in Arceus don't bother me as much anymore. Way too much talking in the first few hours. Was afraid it would ruin it for me but i really enjoy it now.
Also Uncharted 4 in 120fps is just top and Webbed is really fun
Finishing up metroid dread, to get 100%. Also bought titanfall2 on xbox series s, might try and play it for a few hours. Brilliant been able to get in a big robot to fight other robots. Only cost €10😁
Murder by Numbers is a fun thing because it starts out as a tribute/throwback to 90s quirky detective procedurals, both mocking and honoring them, and then goes hard into robotic free will, workplace misogyny, toxic relationships and various LGBTQ issues.
Put it up right next to JJ Macfield and the Island of Lost Dreams in the "I never thought a game with this description would ever be about sexual minorities, let alone so appreciative of them".
Sad to see Jon leave the videos, he added some great humour and obscure knowledge. Will Kate be in more YouTube discussions or was that just the one time?
I'll mostly be playing Pokemon Legends Arceus. I've been a bit busy so haven't played it a ton yet but loving every minute. Although being chased by like 5 alphas at once is legitimately scary--worse than Metroid Dread chase scenes, at least Samus has armor and isn't just a child about to be ripped apart by wild animals with glowing eyes.
I'll be playing MK8D in an attempt to get to 11000 online then I'll be taking a break. I may go back to Cruis'n Blast to complete the extreme difficulty and snatch a few more keys (Hello unicorn). My time is so meh right now, but I want to get back into Boot Hill Heroes and Torna the Golden Country I've been putting off. Chances are I'll incorporate yet another distraction, like Rocket League. Ayeayeaye...
AXIOM VERGE 2 - Really digging it so far!
@JBone Yeah, I had played the demo a while back, but then played it some more with the free trial and decided I wanted to get a copy while it was on sale.
Pokémon Legends Arceus (I haven’t gotten as far as I’d like to have, but I’m having fun), Halo Infinite (just bought the campaign and it’s pretty good so far), and Fortnite with friends.
I want to play some Minecraft but I have a oled coming. I could play on my normal switch but I want to play on the oled. Freaking ice storm delayed my package
Still Pokemon Legends! ... And may be for a while as my wife and I slowly work through it together.
I picked up Mercenaries Saga Chronicles as some short filler on the side while I wait for Triangle Strategy
I finished the true ending of ISLAND which is the best thing ever created in the history of the universe so I'm now doing the bonus endings just for fun.
BOTW number 4, first on the Switch. I’m having the most fun with goofy clothing combinations.
I'm still making my way through Banjo Kazooie, it's my first time playing the game and I'm definitely liking it. Outside of that, there is Super Monkey Ball: Banana Maina, as well as Ori and the Blind Forest.
Eastward and Banjo.
Was reminded about the upcoming Kirby game, so I've been playing Kirby's Adventure on the NES, Kirby's Dreamland 3 on the SNES, and Kirby 64 on the guess what
Forty hours into DQ XI and still loving the journey! Definitely think I’m over-leveled for where I’m currently at in the game, but I’m enjoying grinding more than I thought I would. Absolutely love the characters, especially the Great Sylvando! Happy weekend, everyone!
This thread made me sad by not seeing anybody else playing dying light 2, although I sorta expected that with it being a nintendo site and all. There are some glitches I've managed to get, none of them gamebreaking, unlike the ign review made it sound. Easily top 5 favorite games and I haven't even done more than 4 main mission quest.
Pokemon Legends, obviously. Still getting sidetracked exploring around the first area, and just got to the first noble. Caught my first alpha Pokemon, a Lv40 Rapidash, with a Lv10~ team, which was intense! Buizel was the star of the battle, and now is one of my favorite Pokemon ^_^
I just can't tell you how much I appreciate the new mechanics for core gameplay. Seamless exploration and Pokemon catching is incredible, the stealth system is surprisingly engaging, and Pokemon battling will never be the same. The Strong/Agile style system is a nice novelty, but infinitely more important is how seamless engaging with wild Pokemon has become, one of many highlights being able to walk around mid-battle.
Another new feature I appreciate is the fleshed out Pokedex mechanics, with passive goals added to each Pokemon entry. It really encourages me to keep catching more Pokemon, and utilize and interact with Pokemon in different ways.
I still love Gyms as PvP dungeons, but I am really appreciating Legends' dedicated PvM game structure.
No, the graphics aren't pretty, with jagged textures and so forth, but, much more importantly in my mind is all the ways Legends absolutely succeeds at overall presentation, including the attention to detail. The swaying of tree branches, the ambience of distant Pokemon cries, the way your character model steps around inclines/declines realistically, and of course the stellar Pokemon models as well as the way they breathe new life into the way the Pokemon move and act, and all the other myriad of details Game Freak put into this game, all come together to make this the most immersive Pokemon game I've ever played.
Also, does no one else think it's incredible that you can just seamlessly switch to first-person mode whenever you like?? Switching to first-person by holding down ZL just to walk around and look at Pokemon and the world is so much fun!
I am back logging. Trials of mana. im 3 hours in.
Finished Nexomon which was underwhelming. Going to start Fable either tomorrow or Monday.
Jon will be missed
Weekends just go by too quick!! ACNH and Forza 5 have been played!!
Final Fantasy X on switch.
I also picked up SW Squadrons on Ps4 to see how it plays there.
I've been loving Arceus. Knew I really loved the game when I heard the music and walked around the heartwood. I've played 20 hours so far, have gotten 4 stars, and haven't seen or fought cleavor yet (lord of the woods). Was so cool when I discovered how to climb. I was hoping for Breath of the Wild climbing, but just nudging the stick and releasing lets me climb slopes I'd otherwise slide back down. Have been enjoying Grindstone, Elasto Mania, Dusk, Aleste Collection, and Ghost of Tsushima. Even though it was just a mention, it was cool to hear Saigyo's name in Tsushima. I've been enjoying his poetry and have several books by or about him.
I've also gotten an LG C1 and was at first aghast to how some games look on it (someone on NL said BotW looks rough on their C1), but once I adjusted the clarity controls to max out motion smoothening I thought Breath of the Wild looked better than ever. The motion smoothening and black frame insertion on the C1 can really make games look awesome. I'm also enjoying Rocket League on PS5 and series X at 120fps and whatever resolution they run it at. I really hope 120fps becomes a standard that migrates to mid and lower tier TV sets soon!
@Ulysses I agree with your Arceus comments. I've had some thrilling alpha battles. I'm enjoying the Obsidian Fieldlands so much I kinda never want to leave. Being able to walk around and control the camera during battles is surprisingly awesome. I like how you can stand in the middle and get hit with every pokemon attack. The game has really good music, awesome battles, fun capture mechanics, and just too many things that are fun and engaging. Oh, I also like the variety of clothes and shoes you can buy. I have wished for the Sheika clothing from Breath of the Wild so I could sneak more quietly!
@Aispen Once I saw a YouTube video of Webbed gameplay on Switch it immediately went on my wishlist. Looks like a fun game. I'm just kinda hoping for a sale.
@WoomyNNYes I played a snowday game a few weeks ago that had someone with a grand champion tournament winner title. They made an incredible play at the very end of the game, basically dribbling the puck along the wall(it was also partially an aerial dribble) then tapping it in. I've been addicted to hoops though, where I get up to D1 and then often severely disappoint my random teammate!
@120frames-please Exactly! I also would love the Sheikah outfit featured in Pokemon Legends. Wouldn't that be some fun crossover DLC?! Perhaps you could even battle and catch a Lynel!! (not transferable to Pokemon Home/other Pokemon games, obviously)
I've also enjoyed Jon's videos and such. Hope the new opportunity goes really well!
@Ulysses That would be interesting! Although I think I'd prefer something created by a character in Jubilife Village, maybe something that has a chameleon quality where your clothes subtly shift in color to match the ground, plants, or water you are near.
@120frames-please Yeah, now that I've gotten to platintum in Snow Day, I've started seeing guys doing that high wall action as they travel down field, often they push the puck upward enough that it slides to the ceiling and arcs toward goal/center field.
I suck at hoops, totally out of practice. There's that challenge to play three hoops games, I've played two games so far. I'm playing so terribly, I feel guilty, I don't think I'm going to play that third game.😁 The last game, the other team was smurfing hard, like REAL hard -they're clearly diamond or champ. Within the first minute they got about 7 goals. I was so outgunned, and the game doesn't let you forfeit that early. It was so painful. LOL.

@mauhlin12 I think you'll definitely love ISLAND if you give it a shot. It was the best experience I've ever had. PlayAsia and eBay you can find the physical version or eShop for digital. It'll blow your mind about two dozen times for certain. Just make sure to look up a route guide. Though it should be noted on the Switch version that one decision for the True Ending differs from the Steam version and most guides show the decision for Steam.
@JustMonika Thanks for the recommendation, I added it to my Steam wishlist (getting a Deck at some point) and I'll look it up next time I'm on the eShop.
@WoomyNNYes Sometimes it seems like there's so few players that higher ranks get mixed with lower. There is definitely smurfing too. But I've seen a lot of Champ tournament winners in hoops, snow day, and even football (soccer), and I've never gotten above Diamond 2 (and can't escape gold in some categories like 1v1 and dropshot). I like seeing them though. They make such awesome, fast, plays that I enjoying losing just to see the plays they can make. Plus, sometimes they're my teammate and I enjoy the carry.
So many great games are on the way this year so I’m trying to tackle my backlog! played a lot of Bravely Default 2 this weekend. I’m about to finish the boss battle of chapter 6. I wanna finish that game soon so I can get back to Blue Reflection: Second Light and play that throughout February. I’ve already pre-ordered Triangle Strategy so once that comes out everything else will have to be paused while I play that game. I haven’t been so hyped for a game in awhile. 🥳
I'm really late this time,
On ps5 i'll be playing Dying Light 2
On switch it will be Pokemon Arceus, Skyward Sword, Metroid and ofcourse Mario kart online
@120frames-please I was Plat 1-2 in 1v1 for about 6 months last year, but ever since last spring, something changed, and I can't get out of gold. And gold players play like plat/diamond. I suspect the surge of newb players that free-to-play brought in left last spring as vaccines rolled out, and the meta shifted toward higher skilled as many of those newbs left.
I'm in gold, too, for dropshot - it's tough competition in there. I'm plat to diamond 1 for 3v3. In rumble im Diamond 1.
I spent the entire day yesterday playing Indivisible. I got to the part where... well let's just say "somebody" died because Ajna got way too angry.
@KateGray I had no idea about Murder By Numbers — thanks for the heads up!
@WoomyNNYes Sounds like a plausible theory. I love 1v1, but so many people get insulting in it. Maybe I should just turn all chat completely off when I want to play 1v1. Whatever level or rank I'm in, Rocket League is amazing. I can't believe that after 1,500 hours (mostly on Switch) I still love it, and am still very far from being great at the game.
@mauhlin12 Awesome.. You'll be coming back to thank me later
