Well, I thought I’d be playing GRIS, but instead threw myself a curveball and decided to fire up the original Yooka Laylee. I was suffering from a bit of JRPG exhaustion, and jumping around in a colorful, goofy world was just the remedy I needed before jumping into Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in the new year. I also am trying my hand at Nuclear Throne and a bit more Dead Cells (currently 50+ hours in).
Happy New Year, everyone!

Currently stranded on the East Coast of the US for the holidays. Trying to stay positive and make the best of it. I finished Live A Live last night…WOW that game is good! I feel it deserved more love during GOTY talks this year.
I’m trying to decide what to mess around with until the end of the year. My plan is to start Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on January 1st, so I’ll probably be taking it easy with GRIS or some roguelike. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Currently working my way through the first half of Live A Live.It hasn’t totally pulled me in yet, although I think it’s simply because I have a bit of JRPG exhaustion. I jumped back into runs of Dead Cells and am absolutely addicted. Up until a couple weeks ago, I had about 15 hours total in a game that I’ve owned for about four years, and now I’m about to pass the 40 hour mark. The ”Everyone is Here” Vol. I and II updates are an absolute delight, with my favorite new weapon probably being the sword and gun from Hyper Light Drifter. Great stuff!
Happy gaming, everyone!

Just finished up Xenoblade Chronicles 2! My overall impressions were great. I absolutely loved the world and exploration, the music was fantastic, and after I found an online explanation of the battle system, I fell in love with that too. The battles were just too drawn out for me to keep grinding to take down the high level unique monsters (I so badly wanted to take down Immovable Gonzalez!). Also, the Field Skills system was a little too frustrating, although I did enjoy the very light Metroidvania element it added.

Just started Torna and the Golden Country. I can’t believe how much better this DLC looks than the base game. Very excited to keep moving through the story this weekend.

Happy gaming, everyone!

It’s Labor Day weekend in the States, so I probably won’t be doing a lot of gaming, but if I do get the chance, I’ll continue plugging away at Xenoblade 2 (chapter 5). I just played through Paratopic last night. What an experience that was! Might have to do another play through and make some different choices. Anyway, happy weekend!

I’ll be on my first backpacking trip this weekend, but if I was around, I’d be continuing progress in Xenoblade Chronicles 2! A little over seven hours in and absolutely loving it. I knew right when I started that this game was for me. As much as I’d love to be playing, I’m excited to be getting out in the mountains for some proper camping, though, especially with the wonderful summer weather we’ve been having. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Just started Xenoblade Chronicles 2, knowing full well I probably won’t finish the game until we are well into autumn. My copy of Xenoblade 3 arrived, so I’m highly motivated to plug away at 2, despite demands on my time right now.

I used gold points to pick up NBA 2k Playgrounds 2. I have massive arcade basketball hole in my heart, and since I’m sure the NBA Street series will never be resurrected, I decided to give this game a try.

Enjoy the weekend!

I want to start Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but I’m still intimidated at the thought of another 100+ hour JRPG this year. So instead, I dipped back into Mario 3D World last night, and man was it a blast! Trying to clean up the stars and stamps I missed on the first go-around.

Still plugging away at Sonic Mania…currently in the Metallic Madness zone. After I roll credits, I’d like to play at least a couple levels with Knuckles, and then Mighty and Ray.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

More Monster Hunter Rise for me. I just finished up the three star quests in the village. Working on assembling a couple different armor load outs before I proceed. The Insect Glaive is my weapon of choice!
I’ve been dipping into Sonic Mania here and there, doing a level or two once a day. Maybe I’ll even dip back into SMT IV. We’ll see! Happy weekend!

I just started Monster Hunter Rise, now that I’ve finally completed Ys VIII! I also picked up Valfaris on deep discount (it’s been on my wishlist forever), and played about an hour or two. Excellent game. I love pummeling alien demons to a metal soundtrack. And, speaking of demons, I’m still slowly working my way through SMT IV on the 3DS. I may also play some Donkey Kong Land on that system as I picked up the trilogy last week. Should be a great weekend! Hope you all have a good one, as well!

Currently sitting on chapter four of Ys VIII. My progress has slowed a bit, as I’ve had a very busy work week, but I’m hoping to make headway this weekend!

I finished collecting every key in Cruis’n Blast. Man, I love this game! You can do a lot worse for $20.

Happy gaming/weekend/Easter everyone!

After 90 hours, I finally rolled credits on DQ XI. I highly recommend that game to anyone and everyone! I’m now trying to decide what to play next. I had a false start on Journey to the Savage Planet. Just wasn’t in the right mood, I guess. My other ideas are Ys VIII, Death’s Gambit (snagged a physical copy from Best Buy a few weeks ago), or Hades. I’ve also played about four hours of Toki Tori, and man what a fun little game that is. Happy weekend to all!

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

SuperBiny64

My original Switch (3/31/17 purchase) has been incredibly resilient! I feel pretty lucky to have not had any issues. I travel by air every week for work, and the system has held up under the wear and tear. I do have a Lite as a backup, in case anything does happen to my original system. At some point I’ll cave and pick up an OLED, as supply in the States seems to have improved.
