Re: Nintendo Comments On Mario Kart World's Controversial Price

StyrofoamCup

I'll pay for a Nintendo experience knowing I usually have fun and have my family interested in joining or watching. My Switch time paid off with an invitation for. Switch 2, and I gladly picked Switch 2 with MKW.

That said, the gaming market is controlled by supply and demand. If Nintendo doesn't see traction early on, prices will drop. But if the prices are a sweet spot for the masses, don't hold your breath for a seismic change in pricing. My best to people not wanting to pay, but compared to other portables, the console market, and the chaos eviscerating the global markets, I am pleased at the pricing structure.

Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?

StyrofoamCup

The game industry has been sabotaging itself for a long time. Regular editions, Deluxe editions. Ultra Editions. Subscriptions. Re-re-releases.

People are willing to spend plenty of cash on all these products on all platforms even classic systems, also on statues, toys, and "experiences". The reality is Nintendo has the spotlight right now and is the easiest punching bag. And people have a deep DEEP almost obsessive expectation that Nintendo belongs to the gamer. Nintendo are a publicly traded company with the same goals as other entities. And prices have to be reasonable to the work and revenue goals they have to achieve. The business of games isn't all games.

Hyperbolic claims Nintendo is ruining the industry, your childhood, or a community is just childish.

Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting

This is an insignificant price increase on decades of locked pricing that was worse in the 80s and 90s with far less return on investment.

I'm also mostly digital starting around 2020 and this pricing scale fits my life and budget. The game sharing is going to be huge in my house along with our family expansion membership.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

StyrofoamCup

Excellent for me.

Biggest shock for me is not only are amiibo not dead, SF6 of all games will have figures.

I'm not thrilled to learn and discern express SD Cards from the regular lot, but all recent systems now demand faster read times for 4K output (Wow...Nintendo and 4K).

And just 2 months away. June obliterates my wallet every year.

I am a veteran of FF III/VI since launch in 1994, and I am grateful the game does have a presence on modern platforms. But things still rub me the wrong way in this release. One of my biggest gripes, the appearance of the mini-map in every screen you enter, is now addressed. Turn it off in one screen, and it remains off moving forward. But this leads into my over all gripe: so much hand-holding for the player. I dislike the insistence of hints that take away from challenge and learning. Besides the previous insistence of mini-maps on every screen, another example is the hint screen for Sabin's/Bash's blitz attacks. I know how to do them from experience or re-learning from the Abilities screen, but now I feel stressed to match the screen detail.

Also, this is a superficial thing, but I hate that the menu screens are locked to the very plain blue style when original FFIII gave us the option to pick a theme for windows and also to adjust color ranges. I love and miss my marble-esque theme.

Finally, and being wishful, I'd love if the original releases were included with their respective remasters to allow people to experience the good and the bad of those releases. FFIII/VI is the most impactful RPG of my gaming life. I just love going back to what was achieved 30 years ago and would love to do it again on the Switch.

Re: Nintendo Believes In "Giving Proper Credit" After Backlash Over Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

I side with Nintendo.

They own the copyright to the franchise. They can do as they please with recognition.

To Nintendo, the current team that did the port work, testing, and all the grunt work to get to release is the focus. Slapping in credits to the previous team would dilute the recognition.

I'll go even colder. The previous contract demands were met for the first release. That team was paid and given credit. Unless there is a stipulation for continued credit recognition in future re-releases, the matter is closed. Nintendo isn't a white knight. It's a business. Get everything in writing or deal with it.
