Re: Reaction: A Direct That Picked Up Pace For A Breathtaking Finish

StyrofoamCup

I've either reached "that age", or Nintendo is now like every other company because I didn't care for much that was on offer.

Everything shown is fine if not technically impressive for a Nintendo system. But most of it didn't give me the "Nintendo" feel I expect from their products. What was Nintendo specifically wasn't my cup of tea. People seem to appreciate the Xeno and Fire Emblem games. I personally don't care for them, and their emphasis was heavy in the Direct.

I await StarFox, and Ocarina of Time will be a showcase just based on pedigree. But, I this Dorect left me rather hollow.

Re: Nintendo Fined €35 Million Over Widespread Joy-Con Defects

StyrofoamCup

Nintendo is not our friend and never has been.
It is a for-profit-company that will use all legal tactics for a happy bottom line.

And with that, their Joy-Con response was unreasonable. The facts show they learned from the issues with the Switch 2, but they still have to pay the price for the rather anemic actions. They shouldn't have been guilt tripped into providing repairs.

They've paid. Let's not come here again.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch 2: Year One - Looking Back, How Would You Rate It So Far?

StyrofoamCup

Of the many amazing attributes and successes of the Switch 2 design, it is the backwards improvements that never ceases to amaze me. Seeing Switch games reach new heights in performance just by nature of the Switch 2 hardware is as "PC" as it gets while giving Switch games new found longevity.

I have revisited my Switch library and been amazed so many times. And with a touch of effort by the game developers, what were failures are turned into playable experiences (yes, I'm talking about THAT Batman game).

In a year of troubles, the Switch 2 has been a welcomed bright spot.

Cheers to another exciting year.

Re: Digital Eclipse Brings A Bunch Of Classic Toy Story Games To Switch 1 & 2 This Year

I am rarely surprised in this day and age, and I am certainly suprised by the Toy Story 3 remaster. I and my child LOVED this game on the PS3. I have fond memories of us Hulk-smashing the ground during the Buzz Lightyear stage. And for the uninitiated, the Toy Story 3 Toy Box s where Disney Infinity was born. I have fond memories of that era too

Eventually, I aquired nearly every release of TS3 becauae it was ao charming. I currently own the DS, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii versions. Wow, I'm getting it on the Switch 2 someday too

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Final Fantasy VII Rebirth For Switch 2?

StyrofoamCup

Eventually. While I do think Square did an excellent job bringing this experience to the Switch 2 from a technical perspective, I am dissatisfied with the changes from the original. I am distracted by the NPC designs, many of the newer characters which feel like unnecessary padding, and the bizarre feeling of the main cast being out-of-place in this world. All these elements crept into my play time of Remake, and now it is all I can see in Rebirth.

I also have a bad taste in my mouth having purchased Remake at launch only to see it on sale just weeks later on the eshop. So, Rebieth will now stay on the wishlist until there is a discount and after I find the energy to chug through it.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Yoshi And The Mysterious Book?

StyrofoamCup

8/10 at a minimum for me after completing chapter 1. The game is beautiful with an almost stop-motion charm I adore. I also love the exploration without pressure to complete goals.

I take away points because of the reliance on Bowser Jr. which is a character I have never liked. I don't know the full character cast yet, but seeing Jr. at the start irks me enough to take away 2 points.

Re: Video: The Great Physical Vs. Digital Switch 2 Debate

StyrofoamCup

Physicality means nothing to me in an age of persistent software patvhing, DLC, and mandatory software installs. I have turned to nearly 100% digital purchases for the Switch 2 with Star Fox being the only coming exception to add to my little Star Fox shrine. And I still might get a digital copy to save me time. I've done that before, and I'll probably do it again.

Re: Stop Stressing, Nintendo Says More Switch 2 Games Are Coming

StyrofoamCup

It's the game industry that should be concerned.

I can see the Switch 2 (and optimistically Switch 3) as the end of the line for my non-legacy investments. Sony and Microsoft both lost me a decade ago, and no amount of power obsession will bring me back to their playforms.

I could retire happily after the Switch 2 ends irs run.

Re: Nintendo's President Apparently Wants Switch 2 To Match The Long Lifespan Of The Original System

StyrofoamCup

I wish them the best in achieving this goal. I am a person who enjoys getting the max time and potential from technology. My Switch units (launch, Lite, ACNH, OLED) are very much in rotation and have gained new purpose as my arcade units and backup devices to play Switch games when the S2 is occupied. The cloud save backup service has exponentially helped as I hop from machine to machine. Looking forward to the years to come.

And I can't believe the Switch is hitting it's 10th. I vividly remember waiting in line on launch day at my local Target for it and BoTW.

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Old Vs. New Designs Compared - Which Do You Prefer?

StyrofoamCup

I needed to sleep on this news.

Go big or go home is my feeling. I am excited now, and I like Nintendo went bold and realistic in a world of anthropomorphic astronauts. The movie animation was Star Wars level as well, and that incredible from a direction and design perspective.

But I sure didn't want another 64 remaster because I have the game memorized. I almost felt patronized when the video was explaining what an Arwing is. Come on, Nintendo. Know your audience.
