@WiltonRoots I bought my GCN because of Eternal Darkness, not Zelda: Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine, Smash Bros, or Mario Kart. I definitely want ED to return and in an ideal timeline, have a sequel.
While the Sands of Time prince will always be the one whom I have the fondest memories of, this has me way more excited than the 2008 reboot and the delayed SoT remake.
What I REALLY miss are envelop art sent to EGM and Nintendo Power and EGM’s Psycho Letter of the Month.
What I don’t miss are Game Players Magazine’s Bill Donohue and the consistently rude replies to even basic questions, as though he confused being a jerk with being funny.
I get super anxious for these directs because of how surprisingly good many small titles end up being unexpectedly compared to ones I’m already anticipating.
To your points about structure and pacing, I didn't get that impression, as I investigated every angle and exhausted all the dialogue. I also played the game completely blind, not knowing criticisms of it or what it was about, so the very first chapter in episode one was jarring in a way that it resembles some of the sudden things I've experienced having to move around.
Here's a story about why that is relatable where I get a little more personal: I'm coming home one day from middle school, more concerned with homework, a library book that's overdue, and looking forward to the Disney Afternoon block on television. When I arrive, police officers are stepping on my father's face and arresting him, and I end up almost being placed in the foster system and saved at the last minute by my uncle who just happened to drive over to ask my dad a favor and instead he claimed me before the cops and the social worker could take me.
For the next year, I was in another town under completely different rules, with any friends I had made lost because we didn't all have beepers back in the day. The story repeated itself when my dad came back for me and took me away by the time I was settling into the new community, and then he told me we were just "taking a break" before actually involuntarily taking me abroad to hide from the police much in the same way Sean had to hide things from Daniel until Daniel watched the news.
The jarring feeling is something that captures that time when I had no ability to root and connect with the "status quo" and that's why while LiS2 is near and dear to me, it's too painful emotionally to play through again since it's way too familiar, even down to the selfishness of Karen, who had the exact same issues my own mom did too.
I don’t get why people keep insisting it’s a political game and how that takes away from the experience. If anything, the game felt more relatable because everything that happened to those boys in the story are things that have happened to minorities like us. That’s why this game is so special to me because it’s most relatable, including moving around a lot.
@countzero @Tom-Massey I read the same sentence and it seemed like sarcasm. The rest of the review didn't seem to read like Tom was a fan of the show at all. Key word is "seem" as I'm an American who assumes if I'm missing something, there's probably British dry wit and sarcasm with any writing on this site. Good on you for clarifying with us who seemed to struggle with what you're attempting to convey, Tom.
As a Cobra Kai fan, we’re a lot smarter than the reviewer characterized us in the first two sentences. We love the show and see this game is garbage, PS2 era graphics and Acclaim 90s cash grab licensed games running as though they had no budget for beta testing. Sadly, kids of of show fans may end up being the ones who convince them to buy the game.
I wish there’d be a good developer for the game instead of this garbage.
Hellena’s feelings are likely real. The facts and the current information gathering do not necessarily support her claims and allegations. Nevertheless, it’s important to wait for information to come out before taking action, which the social media mob tends to do the opposite and react before researching and waiting. For those still interested, I believe more facts will come out, but the result of this is it makes me want to buy the game sooner to support Platinum’s employees and to wish Hellena peace.
I am still buying the game. I also do voiceover. There is missing information here from Taylor herself and Platinum. I don’t act or decide with an incomplete analysis.
I do voiceover work too and that’s insultingly low. She has every right to be pissed off just like the original voice of Major Zero was at Konami that led to him not returning for MGSV.
I also remember the actor for Niko in GTA4 got paid “only” $100k (someone please fact check the numbers for me because it probably was lower).
Not underground enough of a platform for a system that upon reveal was treated as the underdog and laughingstock compared to the mainstream powerhouses of PlayStation and XBox. Sure.
Square putting more titles on Switch reminds me of an ex who dumped you for a more stable partner only to see you years later that being unabashedly you, happy, and still doing well makes them regret leaving you and want to come back for a little more fun (written gender neutral because it happens both ways, duh).
@redd214 I haven’t played it either and I don’t know a thing about the game. If anyone can tell me why I should wait for the anniversary edition when the original gets discounted often, I’ll wait for that instead.
@Realness YES. I hate marionette movement because it doesn’t seem like the characters are alive or animated. Looks dead and I disdain it even if if saves them time having to fully animate unique movements or frames.
@Arawn93 Sadly, other friends who grew up in the NES and SNES era but didn't stay on once the PlayStation came still believe Nintendo is a kiddy focused company and violence or sex don't target the demographics who play Nintendo.

Re: Nintendo: $70 USD Won't Be A Trend, Games Priced On "Case-By-Case Basis"
@Bratwurst35 When they say “inflation” I read that as “help us recoup any losses if sales fall below expectations”.
Re: Nintendo: $70 USD Won't Be A Trend, Games Priced On "Case-By-Case Basis"
I remember DKC on SNES was $60 at launch, pissing off some publishers who were releasing $80 “bombs” as EGM then characterized it.
Amazing we paid more for cartridges back then and adjusted for inflation in today’s value, gaming was a much, much more expensive hobby then.

@thom1414 I wished for it, but didn't wait for it. Now it's here.

Looking forward to adding this to my collection.
