Seeing Basket Case was a guilty pleasure when it came out on VHS. Playing as something like the creature isn't something I ever wanted to do, and the review said everything I would have said if I were paid to play and review this...but also rates it higher than I would have.
@Zeropulse I feel the same way, he and Daniel Radcliffe were smart enough not to follow the traditional failed child actor path by avoiding typecasting early on. So while I can’t stand the movies they were originally best known for in Harry Potter, I respect them both as thespians.
That patched new intro to Travis Strikes Again tells me this was in the works for a while. There probably will be a bigger tie-in to all Suda51 games in NMH3 at some point if not at least allusions and shout-outs.
Scott Pilgrim is not an "if" it will return, but "when" because Bryan Lee O'Malley is fighting to get it back to gamers as he is a fan of the game itself and has clout as a creator.
If I got the DKC trilogy alone I’d be happy. If I got that plus all the Rare games from NES to N64 I’d REALLY be happy!
Though it might be a bit strange when both Perfect Dark and Conker will be mature games in a package with family games, so it may need to be sold separately.
@shazbot Yeah, glad to see someone else experienced this kinda thing too. Internet where I am at is so bad at times that one should not be surprised if they can't watch NetFlix on a weekend night in some areas where signal is weak.
The re-releases, ports, and indies on Switch make me love the system more, hence why I tend to ask for old games to come back more than asking for new games--DKC trilogy for example!
@Crono1973 Yeah, people stateside and in Canada have easier access, but I haven't lived there for over ten years now, and my previous generation systems and games for the Wii and PS3 were stolen, so I've literally started over with the Switch and could leech airport WiFi for software updates before the pandemic.
@Crono1973 Haha, man, you really don't know what life in some third world countries is like where you can't rely on the postal service to not steal your stuff or let its packaging get beaten or mishandled, and that's on top of customs taxes and corruption fees. And the fact that I live in a country that has the worst Internet in the region (and one of the worst in the world), but I don't think explaining any further will make sense to you first worlders, so I'm just gonna say "mmmkay".
@Crono1973 LOL dude, you seem to live in the first world. Ever worked in the Peace Corps or lived in the third world? I can't find a Wii U here unless it's used or order a new one online to be shipped overseas.
I missed the Wii U generation because I was working in a particular kind of career that didn't allow for the expectations of having access to a gaming system, as even having a television, Internet, or electricity and running water was not a guarantee in the countries and communities I was assigned to then. So all the ports are not only welcome for me who missed the Wii U, but because the next assignment, I can bring the Switch with me and not need a TV.
@graysoncharles no worries, dude. Context is key and actually goes well with your stance on evidence to prove guilt while presuming innocence first.
This is why it’s hard for me to get riled up anymore because it’s all The Boy Who Cried Wolf now and the real wolves are getting away. Hopefully, this zeitgeist will end as fast as the beanie babies craze and tickle me elmo fad both did in the 90s.
@Zuljaras The sad thing is that real victims and predators are not going to get the actions necessary because too many of the allegations made are full of holes...the people I know who think most of the cancel culture is atrocious are ACTUAL victims and survivors who think most of it is disingenuous or an attempt to gain attention.
It makes all the serious things look meaningless as people make trivial things a bloody murder trial.
@Edu23XWiiU Patrice O'Neal has a lot to talk about with false accusations--he made his stand-up career entirely on offending people after he had a revelation about false accusations when someone fingered him as a teenager and decided to play with it.
I remember when people were well aware of how atrocious some artists were, but bought their work anyway. Courtney Love with her band Hole, Charles Bukowski books based on him being a sleaze ball, and so on. But people knew that they weren't ashamed of being horrible individuals.
Some people it's easier than others--I can't watch Bill Cosby the same way because he's not the family humor guy he portrayed himself as.
In the case of Warren...Initially, I was angry that CastleVania won't finish with him writing the script for the next season after 4, but then remembered a lot of his ideas were stolen from his fans/accusers.
Spot on. I mean, the PlayStation store has discounts very often, but I find games a lot more frequently by happenstance there. Can’t think of better online stores, but I know for sure that the Nintendo eshop is most certainly not good because of what it lacks, even without comparison.
@Enigk Yeah, it still haunts me because we had a ten-year history and the behavior was so sudden with how it happened and how he ghosted me. I could still drive by his home, and know he still is there, but there isn’t much I could do about it. Unsurprisingly, he then graduated from police academy and became an officer, so pressing the issue won’t help.
@Mushvision Seems half true... what Suda intended for was the blood, but the Japanese and European versions didn’t have it for marketing reasons and censorship. From what I understand, it was supposed to be over the top to add humor like a Tarantino film...killer7 was pretty gory itself too and so the American version had the gore just like it did in the sequel.
Sigh. I love Atari for historical value, but since the Jaguar, and all its attempts to recreate itself, the brand is too damaged at times.
I liked them when they were releasing games like Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee on GCN and Xbox: niche games that weren't out to win awards, just to provide fun.
Nostalgia for Atari really becomes hard for me to care for since it seems to show up every console generation, and the best I ever saw was when they had used graffiti artist for some collection of classic game on the DS.
@IronMan30 I find Xbox to be the least bothersome--not because I have yet to meet an Xbox fan who hates on Nintendo, but because most of those criticisms just come down to graphics or Nintendo's business model, but then they can't really say much in praise of Microsoft either.
Yep--PushSquare actively encourages console war mentality from the editors, but a lot of the users there have been pretty nice with me so far when directly interacting rather than when they speak in general.
Most of my experience being trolled was actually here on NL--whether it was someone who complained I was going off the flow of conversation which was off-topic (yes, I was called a troll for staying on topic because it didn't match the flow of conversation) and another time because someone said complaining about some game prices being too high on the e-shop just means people are poor and poor people don't deserve to play video games or even be gifted consoles and games.
For all the good games on Xbox, PS, and Nintendo consoles, I still don't get the need to go trash a company when they could be playing games as you say, haha.
Love the avatar pic you have--Bill Hicks was and still is a genius alongside George Carlin.
@IronMan30 I have to mentally prepare myself for comments here and in PushSquare--it doesn't help that Sammy at PushSquare actively encourages trashing Nintendo with the way some of the articles are written, such as trashing Nintendo for taking down fan games in Dreams that used Nintendo IP.
Most noticeable was the Zelda BotW-like game that led to a Chinese Nintendo fan smashing the PS4 but over in PS, they reported it as just another crazy Nintendo fan. Or how they talk about how the port-begging here is pathetic then forget about review bombing Astral Chain, and getting mad that Horizon Zero Dawn gets a PC port...
I wonder why it's so hard to just let people like what they like and not need to trash Nintendo fans or vice-versa. Me trashing Sony or Microsoft doesn't make me enjoy Nintendo games more. Someone trashing Nintendo games doesn't convert me to being a loyal Sony fan.
I just had this conversation on push square and the same argument was what I made: we paid $80 for Chrono Trigger back in 1995. That’s well over $120 in 2020, but at least it didn’t need patches or have DLC.
It’s got a niche and pretending that humans don’t enjoy sex and toilet humor is an exercise in denial. I like this because it’s honest and isn’t trying to be an award winning bestseller.
I like the Crash series for what it is, but to hammer in a point some people here may understand easier: I go back to play Mario games, not Crash games. I might play Crash once in a while, if that, but Mario from his NES days to Odyssey and spin-offs with Donkey Kong or Wario, I can play again and again, even without a nostalgia filter.
Crash can exist on Switch or not make the jump this time (I honestly believe this will come later), but I won’t miss him if Crash 4 somehow doesn’t end up on Switch, and will be pleasantly surprised to see him here. I just won’t run to buy it the way I do with Mario games.
For all the jokes about hentai and sex in Japan, there is actually a high statistic of people who have less sex on average than the rest of the world. The abundance of smut is somewhat unsurprising as a means to encourage sex because of the declining population, but what is also controversial is that the more porn there is, the less inclination to have normal healthy sexual relationships because of the disconnect between fantasy in hentai versus an actual human being who doesn’t have perfect curves.
@Heavyarms55 Seems like it's been that way, especially since Attorney General Janet Reno removed skin on HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime in the 90s--we had way more skin then, and violence seemed to get crazier, though not as outrageous as the splatterfests of the 1980s.
@StephenYap3 as I mentioned, it is worth a special mention, even if it is more a Mario and Luigi game. I say so mainly because it wasn’t a cameo, but also a game mechanic.
@RupeeClock oh I saw that😋 I meant a special item on this list saying it’s technically not a Paper Mario game but is still worth checking out since it meshes well with the Mario and Luigi series. 😊
@Daniel36 Oh, I know--that was the point of my post--to show that the absurdity has been filling up the e-shop for a while. XD The sarcasm just wasn't written cleverly enough to be picked up by others, oh well.
I still remember what could have been in 1994 in Nintendo Power showing this and Cosmic Osmo as an example of what could be there with Nintendo and Sony...
