The new CEO definitely has played a huge part in this change in strategy. He wants to make Nintendo far more than games and consoles, but in the right way.

I bought the Japanese version a few months ago. It's beautiful in person so I voted for that.

I don't see why this is even a story. Nintendo made so many of their systems backwards compatible whenever it was possible.

The one that truly amazed me was GameCube discs being compatible with Wii. Those tiny discs shouldn't have worked!!!

I would love to go for a beer and bump with Kamiya San.

It's a button to automatically order DLC or pizza.

The original Switch was such an incredible idea that I'm glad Nintendo haven't tried to innovate just for the sake of it.

They also have had a great track record when not trying too hard.

I'm more than happy with a more powerful, iterative piece of hardware. And the potential mouse controls opens up a huge new option for games.

I think I have a about 150 games in my Wii U Virtual Console library and it would have been amazing to see those carry across to Switch. But it does give me the incentive to keep my Wii U hooked up.

I own it on Xbox but really don't get what all the fuss is about. I've enjoyed plenty of the Harvest Moon and Story of Season games.

This has just never grabbed me and those numbers are quite shocking to me.

@Coalescence This Atari actually respects its heritage. Does it not count as Atari unless the original programmers come back?

If you haven't played Atari 50 yet, I would highly recommend it.

Companies change and evolve. Atari has, for the better.

I really like the way "new" Atari are going about things. The acquisitions of Digital Eclipse and Nightdive are a great match and they've done a lot to reignite interest in their own back catalogue.

The Atari 50 collection is exactly how those types of games should be done. Long may they continue.

Just play them on DS.

I actually really liked Devil's Third. I enjoyed playing Wanted Dead last year as it had a lot of similarities with the gun/sword gameplay.

Also, Street Fighter III: Third Strike doesn't need another remake/port.

@Mgalens Yep, I'd love to be able to buy games from Switch Online just like we were able with the Virtual Console. I think I have around 50 retro games tied to my Wii U forever.

I'm still gutted that Chibi-Robo seems destined to stay stuck on GameCube/Wii forever. It was such a great game and deserved a remake or remaster (at the very least) by now. I get that it's a niche game but I think it could have really found a big audience on Switch.

So, am I right in thinking, this isn't compatible with the 3DS Circle Pad Pro??? Then it's not for me I'm afraid.

I'll get this game at some point because the gameplay really appeals to me.

However I do think that the main character is really unlikable/badly designed and the name of the game is terrible.

They should have called it 'Yo-yo The Monkey' and had Penny as a monkey character. It's catchier and explains the main mechanic of the game.

I actually really enjoyed this game. I had fun from start to finish.

I would like to see Rare Replay due to the number of Nintendo games there.

Otherwise, I'd rather play Xbox games on my Xbox.

It actually annoys me how little Nintendo remakes some of their games which are locked into specific systems. And I'm not saying they should 'do a Sony' and release updates of games the way they do. But seriously, F-Zero GX, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Chibi Robo. Even Mario Paint would have been perfect for DS/3DS.

I'm so tired of hearing about this game.

@smithyo The only way that Nintendo used to control releases on their systems was via censorship and making sure they functioned as required. They have never played a role in deciding the quality of games on any of their platforms.

I still can't believe how long it has actually been since the Switch launched. I have such a backlog that I don't think I'll ever be ready for Switch 2.

I've never been able to get into BoTW or ToTK. I don't have the time or patience for open world games requiring a ridiculous number of hours play. His response is quite patronising actually.

I bought it on Xbox and it's a great game. Gorgeous to look at and has the tight controls of earlier Sonic games. It deserves to do well IMO.

@Maxz Just because he's instantly recognisable as the person that does the voice of Mario doesn't make his work good. It's simplistic, childish and annoying and. Technology limited things when he was first introduced in Super Mario 64 but I think Nintendo missed a trick in not developing beyond that. He and Nintendo have been getting away with the same high pitched, stereotypical crap since 1996.

I massively preferred the silent era of Mario.

I find Charles and his voice work incredibly annoying. I really don't understand why so many people think he's brilliant.

Why is the box art so utterly crap? I get that they've used art from the original but seriously, it's so bland and looks really weird. Most people that will pick this up aren't even going understand the reference to the original.

@KingMike But the Game Boy Color itself was an incremental upgrade of a previously available console.

It seems so bizarre to me now that there would be a 3 year gap between hardware being released in Japan and Europe.

There's a huge promo for it from St. Pancras to the underground. About 10 screens and images completely covering the walls. It looks pretty cool.
