Are there any decent companies to work for in the games industry???

It makes me sad that my favourite hobby is constantly linked with terrible working practices.

I used to read SuperPlay in the early 90s and always wanted this to get and English translation. This announcement has made an old man very happy.

@Astral-Grain Yeah I've had no issues at all with the Xbox versions and had the originals way back when. From what I've played I can only see improvements in QoL, frame rate and controls. People just love to be angry about things these days I guess.

I waited for the physical Xbox version because I have 4 and 5 on that system already.

Did the multiple patches for the Switch version not make a big difference to the games overall?

I've had no performance issues with the Xbox version.

A Virtual Console would help. Being able to purchase games meant I spent an obscene amount on Wii U.

It'll be called Mario Kart Ultimate and feature all previous characters and others from a ton of other franchises. It will have a 5 year DLC cycle adding new tracks cups and characters. It'll will play like DK Racing/Sonic All-stars having multiple vehicles across different terrain.

I genuinely voted for Breath of The Wild. It's the only game here that I failed to get into and didn't complete. I just found myself not caring really quickly and playing something else instead.

I appreciate that this is a sacrilegious thing to say on a Nintendo site but I stand by it. I don't think it's bad at all, just my least favourite.

Why is it than no actors are allowed to hail from a different nation or heritage to the one they're portraying anymore? Seriously. It's acting. You know, pretending to be someone you're not. Should Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch be thrown out of the MCU for fraudulently portraying Americans???

On a separate note, this game will definitely break some Joy-Cons.

Nintendo does waste a lot of their franchises. Just because not every single one of their IP will sell as well as a Mario or Zelda does not mean that they should sit dormant for decades.

They've also been pretty successful in reviving interest in not so popular franchises recently. Fire Emblem? Metroid? The combination of a good game, high install base and proper marketing have done the trick for those two series.

Nintendo just needs to stick with the Switch branding and release new consoles that are backwards compatible. 2, 3, 4 etc. They have found their niche in the market and it's a sustainable one. Hybrid + motion controls is not something either PlayStation or Xbox will be aiming for at any point in the future.

I'll stick to Xbox for this one. Having the entire mainline series on one platform is more appealing to me than the option of handheld play.

I would learn Japanese for this.

I would love to see a compilation of the first 4 2D games on one cartridge. Zero Mission, Samus Returns (minus 3D), Super Metroid and Fusion. All have been on Wii U virtual console so it surely can't be difficult for Nintendo to do.

And obviously Prime Trilogy.

What the hell is happening with this game??? Platinum say they want to share it but can't. The main actress is saying that she may not be involved moving forward. FFS Nintendo, just give us the game we all want. It genuinely seems like 17 years since it was first revealed.

I adore this series. I kind of wish there was an option in NMH1 to switch between the PAL and NTSC versions. The black pixelation reminds me of the Scott Pilgrim movie. I bought both day 1 on Wii and have wanted a third game since then.

The poor guy needs a break. I'm surprised that in this day and age someone is allowed to be so publicly overworked.

In some alternate universe he IS the owner of Atari. Kanye West is the father of PlayStation. Eminem created the Super Marshall Bros series and Will Smith is busy securing launch titles for GamePass.

@Lemmy_the_Koopa I adore Lollipop Chainsaw. I thought James Gunn's writing was superb and there was just so much to love about the bizarre characters and combat (especially when you were more powered up on a 2nd or third play through).

This looks wonderful. I'm hoping for a physical release.

Why would a game being built for Switch need to be optimised for Switch?

@Nclind It seems to you that a lot of Nintendo fans are scared by this machine??? What are you basing that opinion on? I doubt this machine is on 2% of any gamer's radar let alone troubling any Switch owners.

Grow up. Someone bought some things and then sold them for a profit. This is perfectly legal and absolutely fine.

Owning a new console is not essential. Owning a new console during the launch window is not your god given right.

Stop acting as if your life has been made worse because you can't buy a new console. It hasn't.

And if you genuinely feel that it has, you need to look into getting a better life and stop crying over delayed luxury purchases.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this at all. He is free to buy whatever games he wants and free to sell them for whatever someone else is willing to pay. If people don't like paying high reseller prices then don't. But stop crying about it. Your life won't end without a new games console.

The fact that so many people disagree between Sonic 2, 3 and CD being best really shows what a roll Sega were on in those days. I genuinely believe that the Sega Saturn would have been far more successful if they'd made a fully fledged, 2D Sonic 4 on the system.

Sonic Mania still blows me away though. Such a wonderful reimagining of the series.

This sounds like no Pro. I think we may get a subtle update like the 3DS had, but his wording seems to suggest they're waiting for Switch 2 for any meaningful jump in tech.

@RoguePirate We are reading from the same page. F-Zero and Starfox are massively underutilised. Nintendo needs to move past their obsession with doing something inventive and new with each game in a franchise. I love the Forza Horizon games and the only thing different each year is sharper graphics and new tracks/locations. But I ADORE each game. F-Zero doesn't need to be an annual update but ONE game per Nintendo console generation surely isn't too much to ask?

@CBordo I completely agree with you. I think the entire series has sold nearly 20 million on all platforms in 35 years. Those aren't great numbers at all. This isn't a cash grab. It's a labour of love. Nintendo knows that a certain small percentage of their fans love the series and they're willing to make them smile by releasing a game that really shouldn't exist based on previous sales numbers. I hope that more people play Metroid because of their efforts to please the fans.

Also, I completely agree again. Mercury Steam made an amazing Metroid game. I trust them with this.

@RoguePirate I'm so old that I remember Nintendo magazines (Super Play) talking about Fire Emblem and wishing it would come to the West. From where it was as a franchise to now is just a massive turnaround for me. I hope that all niche Nintendo franchises become mainstream and huge sellers. I NEED A CHIBI ROBO REMAKE! 😊

@RoguePirate All I want to happen is for Metroid to become a much bigger Nintendo franchise to the mainstream gaming population. Because of this release and the huge install base of the Switch, I think it could be possible. The more universally popular franchises Nintendo has, the better their position in the gaming world. Fire Emblem turned from a very niche series into a far more successful one because of the popularity of Switch.

@RoguePirate I think that all @tseliot and I were saying is that Metroid has a bigger place in our hearts than Mario or Zelda.

Of course Mario and Zelda are more well known and popular. I don't think either of us were arguing that. We were just talking about the games we love more.
