Re: Community: What Was Your First Ever Nintendo Game?

SMJ

My first games were;

NES - Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt
Gameboy - Tetris
SNES - Super Mario World
N64 - Super Mario 64
Gameboy Colour - Pokémon Yellow
GameCube - Burnout
Gameboy Advance - Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Wii - Twilight Princess (excluding Wii Sports)
DS - New Super Mario Bros
Wii U - Zombi U
3DS - Super Mario 3D Land
Switch - Breath of The Wild

Only through making this list have I realised just how much of first party game fanboy I actually am. 😂

Re: Teenager Hits $1.7 Million In Revenue During Pandemic Reselling Pokémon Cards, Game Consoles And More

@Hellburner918 Theft??? You'd better call the police then! Before you know it he'll be murdering children in the streets!

Grow up. Someone bought some things and then sold them for a profit. This is perfectly legal and absolutely fine.

Owning a new console is not essential. Owning a new console during the launch window is not your god given right.

Stop acting as if your life has been made worse because you can't buy a new console. It hasn't.

And if you genuinely feel that it has, you need to look into getting a better life and stop crying over delayed luxury purchases.

Re: Best Sonic Games Of All Time

SMJ

The fact that so many people disagree between Sonic 2, 3 and CD being best really shows what a roll Sega were on in those days. I genuinely believe that the Sega Saturn would have been far more successful if they'd made a fully fledged, 2D Sonic 4 on the system.

Sonic Mania still blows me away though. Such a wonderful reimagining of the series.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

SMJ

@RoguePirate We are reading from the same page. F-Zero and Starfox are massively underutilised. Nintendo needs to move past their obsession with doing something inventive and new with each game in a franchise. I love the Forza Horizon games and the only thing different each year is sharper graphics and new tracks/locations. But I ADORE each game. F-Zero doesn't need to be an annual update but ONE game per Nintendo console generation surely isn't too much to ask?

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

SMJ

@CBordo I completely agree with you. I think the entire series has sold nearly 20 million on all platforms in 35 years. Those aren't great numbers at all. This isn't a cash grab. It's a labour of love. Nintendo knows that a certain small percentage of their fans love the series and they're willing to make them smile by releasing a game that really shouldn't exist based on previous sales numbers. I hope that more people play Metroid because of their efforts to please the fans.

Also, I completely agree again. Mercury Steam made an amazing Metroid game. I trust them with this.

@RoguePirate I'm so old that I remember Nintendo magazines (Super Play) talking about Fire Emblem and wishing it would come to the West. From where it was as a franchise to now is just a massive turnaround for me. I hope that all niche Nintendo franchises become mainstream and huge sellers. I NEED A CHIBI ROBO REMAKE! 😊

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

SMJ

@RoguePirate All I want to happen is for Metroid to become a much bigger Nintendo franchise to the mainstream gaming population. Because of this release and the huge install base of the Switch, I think it could be possible. The more universally popular franchises Nintendo has, the better their position in the gaming world. Fire Emblem turned from a very niche series into a far more successful one because of the popularity of Switch.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

SMJ

@RoguePirate I think that all @tseliot and I were saying is that Metroid has a bigger place in our hearts than Mario or Zelda.

Of course Mario and Zelda are more well known and popular. I don't think either of us were arguing that. We were just talking about the games we love more.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

SMJ

@tseliot Agreed back. It will never match those two franchises in sales but I love the Metroid games more than any other Nintendo series. I just wish the rest of the world agreed and backed it up with purchases. Hopefully the popularity of Switch will kickstart a Metroid revival with Dread.

Re: Talking Point: With Sony And Microsoft In Next-Gen Limbo, E3 Is Nintendo's For The Taking

SMJ

I own a Switch, PS4 Pro and an Xbox One X. I haven't bought a PS5 or Series X because I literally have no reason to. Everything that interests me on those systems I can play on the consoles I currently own. Why would I shell out £500 on a PS5 when Horizon and GoW will be available on my PS4. Faster loading, better lighting and 'moss and facial hair' does not impress me. At least MS were honest about not having any truly next gen games ready. Sony lied. Mocked the competition. Then backtracked. Their first party titles are not truly next gen because they've been designed with PS4 in mind.

Re: It Seems Game Builder Garage Will Only Be Available On The eShop In Europe

SMJ

@CactusMan But only in Europe??? I'd understand if it was digital everywhere but there's no excuse to avoid physical solely in Europe. Anyone who wants a physical cartridge will have to import. A game like this seems like it's destined for paid DLC unfortunately and so those importers would need to set up a non EU account for the privilege or miss out entirely. It doesn't seem right considering its a first party game.

Re: It Seems Game Builder Garage Will Only Be Available On The eShop In Europe

@Mr-Fuggles777 Well done for nearly turning 40. I'm a couple of weeks away myself. I have games from 30 years ago that still work. The fact that modern games need a patch to work isn't a good thing and I don't know why you use that to argue your point. A game you buy should work out of the box. I've never bought a film that required me to download a patch to watch the ending. A game shouldn't be a transient thing like hearing a song on the radio. If I pay full price it should be mine to do as I please with for as long as I want.
