Re: Epic Games Cuts Over 1,000 Jobs Weeks After Raising Fortnite V-Bucks Prices

Rykdrew

It’s a complicated topic. My wife works in market research, and she had to conduct a detailed study on this subject. And we found out that (I won’t remember all of them):

  • The tomato sauce factory we buy from laid off 150 employees in 2025.
  • The cereal factory we eat from laid off nearly 200 employees in 2025.
  • The factory of the car brand we bought shut down an entire plant, laying off 2,500 employees.
  • The farmers who supply all the fruits and vegetables we buy at the market laid off 80% of their workers, since tractors and inventory are now automated with AI and GPS-guided autonomous vehicles.
  • The internet provider we use in our city laid off 50% of its workforce, since everything is now automated with AI.

We are not going to stop consuming the vegetables available in our city’s market, nor the tomato sauce; we won’t sell our car, and we won’t stop using the internet. And, without a doubt, I’m not going to stop playing Rocket League (one of my favorite games of all time).

The world is undergoing an intense transformation. I don’t know what will happen in the future. I only know that it’s impossible to contain it.

My strategy for my children (a 3-year-old daughter and a 10-month-old son) is:

If you graduate in agronomy, I will finance the tractor that will operate autonomously with AI. Be the owner of your own production.
If you graduate in medicine, I will finance your AI-powered MRI machine (or whatever equipment is necessary). Be the owner of the machine.

The advice I give to young people is: start your own company, be your own business, be your own brand. Don’t work for other people. Because in 30…40…50 years, I doubt that your job will still exist.

@Mana_Knight My daughter just turned 3 years old. She started playing Super Mario 3D World at two and a half. At that time, she liked to walk the character to the edge of the abyss and jump. She would lose all her lives that way, but she would laugh and have fun. Six months later, she was in the last secret world (which was too difficult for her, and even for me it was quite challenging). Then, accidentally, she deleted the save. I was really sad, but she, within a week, already had nearly 160 stars. She knows where all the items are in each level. And in my opinion, this game has a lot of levels! She is amazing. At her age, I played Seaquest on the Atari, a much simpler game. I feel like making a YouTube channel to show her playing, but my wife doesn't like exposure and I had to agree. I have a 10-month-old son and I get excited imagining if he will be our player 4!

@DennyCrane Thank you! I am very satisfied with both purchases. I am enjoying Mario Maker 2 much more than I thought I would. Playing random levels is very powerful. You feel like playing 'just one more time.' I loved this Endless Course mode. I even stopped the Story Mode, and at the moment I am focused on this mode. As for Donkey Kong Country Returns, I knew I would like it because I loved playing the demo. And wow, what a high-quality game. I feel like a teenager again, playing Donkey Kong for the first time!

Can I play these multiplayer mini games online with randoms? Or only offline (because i dont know people playing this game)?

If i buy it some day, it will be for my daughter play online with randoms only.

Rosalina, assist mode means nothing to me. My 3 years old daughter finished mario 3d world and bowser's fury alone. She is finishing mario wonder too. She does not need any assist mode. This game is easy. Maybe she will need some help in one or two stages....but she does not need any assist mode.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Tired Of The Talking Flower Yet?

Rykdrew

@The_Nintendo_Expat It's interesting to see the different profiles of gamers. How each person perceives a game in different ways, sometimes in opposite ways. I'm 44 years old, and I've been playing since I was 2. I've owned practically every video game ever released, from every brand. Mario Bros. (the first one) has always been one of the most fun for me. Super Mario World? At the time, my "best of all time." But, regarding Mario 64, I disliked that game so much that I hated Nintendo for about 10 years. Seriously. Mario was, until then, a classic adventure game, with well-positioned enemies, and the risk of game over every 5 seconds. In Mario 64, the game was transformed into a "treasure hunt." A game of finding things in the scenery. This drastic change was so unfun for me that I didn't even consider playing Mario anymore. So much so that I NEVER PLAYED ANY classic Mario game AGAIN. It was only in the last 6 months, at age 44, that I bought:

1. New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe
2. Mario Maker 2
3. Mario Wonder
4. Super Mario 3D World
5. Mario Galaxy 1 + 2
6. Mario Odyssey

I bought them all.

And my ranking is like this:

1. Mario Odyssey
2. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
3. New Super Mario U Deluxe
4. Mario Wonder
5. Mario Galaxy 1 + 2

I bought Mario Maker 2 days ago, so I won't comment on it (but I'm loving it).

Funny how today the concept of Mario 64, which made me utter all the biggest blasphemies against Nintendo for a decade, clicked with me again... and Mario Odyssey, the most Mario 64 game of all time and with 900 Moons to find, is in my Top 5 of all time.

Life is funny!

I'm loving them all, I just found Mario Wonder and Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 a little weaker, but I haven't played much Mario Galaxy (it's giving me motion sickness... so I'm avoiding it for now).

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Pokémon Pokopia?

Rykdrew

Still not my fisrt Pokemon game.

I'm still not convinced this franchise will entertain me. The more videos I watch on YouTube, the less fun I find it. This applies to Pokopia, as well as all the other Pokémon games. I bought Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance on Steam. If I like that game, maybe I'll try Pokémon in the future.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Team Consistently Aiming For 30fps On Switch 2 "Wherever Possible"

Rykdrew

@Gr8nn6ngs after 20-30 games (Steam price), my Legion Go 2 +30 games is cheaper than Switch 2 + The same 30 games (eshop prices) ...considering "right now".

I buy 200..300 games each 5 years. My Legion Go 2 + games Will be cheaper, life time, than Switch 2 + The same games, life time.

Switch is for exclusive only. But i dont see any exclusive i think $70 or $80 good, "right now".

It works for me. It can not works for you.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Team Consistently Aiming For 30fps On Switch 2 "Wherever Possible"

Rykdrew

@NotoriousWhiz @NatalieRath The logic is almost always this. Whoever can pay more, buys the option that has the highest quality. on the other hand, I paid $15 for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and $25 for Final Fantasy Remake Rebirth on Steam. And if I compare by price, games that are/will be on both consoles, the "cost" of the Legion Go 2 will be equivalent to that of the Switch 2, after 30 games purchased on Steam, instead of the eshop. As I have already surpassed this number, currently the Legion Go 2 + games on Steam are already cheaper than the Switch 2 + third party games. So for me, it was worth it.

If I buy the Switch 2 one day, it will be for first party games, but for now, there are no Switch 2 exclusive games that I think are worth paying $70 or $80 for. That's why I'm still using the Switch 1 and the Legion Go 2.

Re: "We Thought It Would Be Fun" - Nintendo Explains Why Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen Aren't On Switch Online

Rykdrew

@DollyrotsFan1 What I meant is that, even though I've been playing games since 1983 (started 2yo, playing Odyssey) and have 38 video game consoles and over 4,000 games throughout my life, I have never, not even when I was younger, been interested in Pokemon. And even today, new games don't attract or catch my attention. And I feel great about this, because I don't need to spend money on this franchise, and I also won't encourage my children to like it or spend money on it, which I find expensive and poorly made.

My kids have never even heard of Pokemon or know that it exists. They are very young. And since neither their dad nor their mom plays, it will be difficult for them to play. My 3-year-old daughter asks me every day to teach her how to play with my new Hitbox controller because she sees me competing online in Fatal Fury City of the Wolves. And their mom is the same, she participates in Street Fighter 6 tournaments... in conclusion, I believe my children will stay far away from Pokemon. But, of course, if they ever like it, it’s fine. But we don't know anyone who plays Pokémon, so the chances of my kids never coming across this franchise are high. Good for my wallet.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th February)

Rykdrew

@Burning_Spear I'm going to give you my honest and complete opinion on Mario Tennis Aces, for someone who loves Tennis from Switch Sports/Wii Sports (just like you).

In Tennis (Switch Sports), you don't control the character, but you use timing to place the ball in the position you want, with more or less force, more or less diagonally, and with the risk of hitting the ball out of bounds. You need to calculate where and how the ball will be hit to the opponent. That's where 90% of the fun of this game lies. I find it very entertaining.

Mario Tennis Aces is the complete opposite.

You DON'T have control to hit the ball where you want on the court. The angle of the hit is predefined. The game has a different automatic aim for each character. So, for example, if you choose the Mario character and go to hit the ball, all you can do is choose whether the ball will go to the right or to the left, but you can't determine "how much to the right" or "how much to the left". You also can't determine whether the ball will bounce closer to the net or further back on the court, as it's all pre-determined by button (I'll explain).

If you hit with button A: the ball will have a pre-defined behavior and will always bounce the exact same distance on the opponent's court, using that character. The same applies if you hit with the other buttons. There will also be a button to hit close to the net, but the distance and how far to the right or left doesn't depend on your will. It's all pre-determined, scripted. Limited. You only choose right or left. You can charge the racket to make the ball go harder, and you can charge and press a second time at the right moment to return even harder. The rest are the gimmicks we're already used to: specials, which despite the different animations, have the same effect on gameplay for all characters.

No matter how hard you try, the ball won't go out of bounds in Mario Tennis Aces. Only when you do a special shot and intentionally aim out. Any other shot will never, EVER go out of bounds. That risk doesn't exist. It's like playing pong.

For me, who is used to Virtua Tennis and Wii Sports/Switch Sports, Mario Tennis Aces seems extremely simplistic because the game doesn't give me the freedom to hit the ball the way I want, in an analog way, using physics. The directions are predetermined, and this takes away some of the fun, even in a game like Mario Tennis. Nintendo could have mixed both worlds: offering the experience of playing a tennis game with greater control over the ball by the player, mixed with the craziness of the Mario world. Wii Sports Tennis offers much more control, even if you're not controlling your character.

I'm playing Mario Tennis Aces very slowly because it gets boring very quickly.

I had the chance to play Mario Tennis Fever, and it seems more limited than Mario Tennis Aces, with narrower courts and endless rallies. If you disable the special rackets, you'll clearly see how simplistic the "tennis" gameplay is.

For me, Mario Tennis is the weakest of all the "Mario Sports" games. Even though the graphics are attractive, the gameplay gets boring quickly. Mario Tennis - Motion Mode = BIG NO. Terrible.

Switch Sports Tennis is far better.

Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park

Rykdrew

We love multiplayer games. More than single-player games. Ballabel Park was the first game that made me think about buying a Switch 2. Because the multiplayer. Because this way this game can be harder. Because the competition.

It´s like Warioware Get it Together. One of the most fun multiplayer games i´ve ever played. Play this with 4 experienced players. Its a blast.

In its natural form, Mario Wonder is a 4/10 game. Too easy. Not fun. I prefer New Mario Bros U Deluxe.

This game needs so bad a hard mode or harder levels DLC.

I'm not going to buy another 2D Mario game until I'm absolutely certain that it has (MUCH) more of a challenge than Mario Wonder. And I have no problem with never buying another 2D Mario game if this condition isn't met.

My game time:

90% - multiplayer offline
9% - single player
1% - online multiplayer

I think this upgrade is nice. I dont know if its $20 nice. I dont think so.

I have Mario Wonder since November 2025, and i played it for 3 hours. (My daughter has 15 hours). I am playing it slowly. I have a lot of new games to play.

Switch 2 is not in my plans.I will play switch 2 games on "Switch 3" someday. I am not in a hurry. Nintendo tries to sell the same game again again and again. I will buy, for example, Donkey Kong Bananza upgrade switch 3 edition some day.

Nintendo doesn't create a sense of urgency to buy games these days.

Because old games are treated as if they were new. In other words, they are timeless. I can buy them only in 10 years and that's fine.

Re: Review: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (Switch 2) - A Big, Bold Reimagining, And A First-Class Port

Rykdrew

I paid $12 here on steam.

The design is incredible, but the dialogue....oh gosh....these japanese rpgs looks like children talking each other....so many extraordinary boring childish dialogues and strange characters behavior....... After Expedition 33, its impossible for me accept the most of japanese rpgs.

Expedition 33 is brilliant in presenting a mature, serious, and brutal problem. And the characters act accordingly. You feel the weight, the anguish, and the fear of everyone facing a serious situation. The behavior is consistent. The mentally stronger characters act accordingly.

In many Japanese RPGs, little girls with childish behavior, dialogues that seem to have come straight from the maternity ward, face very serious challenges, and still have time to make jokes. One minute they're carrying weapons and slicing brutal enemies. The next minute they're behaving like 8-year-olds, so delicate, behaving as if any bump would make her cry.

For me, this creates a total disconnect. I find it uninteresting. I respect those who think differently.

Thank God that the characters in Persona behave accordingly, with consistency. Please understand, Square Enix.

Splatoon 3: finally i know how to play this game properly. It never clicked on me. But now I am addicted! One of the best experiences playing Nintendo!!

Super Mario U Deluxe: playing relaxed on my bed before sleeping. I am in love to this game. I´ve never played other "New Mario" before.

Super Mario Wonder: playing 15 minutes here....15 minutes there....great game....for relaxation....Love the online in this game.

Princess Peach Showtime: Strange game. It's aimed at children. I have a daughter who just turned 3 years old (but has already finished games like Bowser's Fury, Mario Odyssey, and Super Mario 3D World playing alone, without any help).

I bought Princess Peach for her, but this game, despite being very easy, has gameplay sections that aren't obvious. In short, my daughter can't understand what needs to be done and calls me for help. Detective Peach, for example. At 3 years old, my daughter obviously can't read. Why didn't Nintendo dub this game? Because it's not obvious to a child. The design wasn't very well thought out, neither for children (difficult sections (not obvious for children), requiring reading subtitles to pass some levels) nor for adults (too simplistic and easy).

Even so, my daughter repeats the same levels she can play...again and again and again...and already has 30 hours of gameplay.

And after helping her so much, I decided to get 100% on my profile, since some "stars" are harder to find. I'm having fun! Unexpected. What seemed like a terrible purchase is going to end up being worth the price I paid (used and cheap LOL). Its a nice game...not $60 nice. Not $40 nice...not $20 nice. Maybe $12 nice. But nice.

Graphics: 6 (artistic is nice, graphics: so simple, frame rate: bad, bad, bad..not smooth...if you exchange princess peach for a generic character, you play this game and this doesn't look like a Nintendo game)

Sound: 10 (marvelous)

Gameplay: 5 (two buttons (action/jump), not much action, no AI for enemies, enemies waiting you kill them, find the "stars" let the game alive)

Replay Value (children): 7 (repeat the same 10 - 15 levels they can play alone)

Replay value (adults): 3 (one time only and never more, 30 short stages, a few post-game short mini missions 10 - 12 hours of gameplay)

@Itsashame Both controllers, GameCube and Xbox, have analog triggers with 256 levels of pressure (values between 0 - 255 + 1).

It's possible to play on Steam with both controllers (Steam is compatible with all Xbox, Nintendo, and PlayStation controllers).

There is professional software available to configure expensive and professional systems like Fanatec, SiMagic, Moza, Asetek etc., but it's also possible to calibrate controllers to synchronize whether there are real "point-to-point" effects on these controllers, or if there are only real effects after a point interval.

In analog trigger precision tests, the GameCube controller didn't reach 6, and the Xbox controller didn't reach 60.

@Pillowpants Thank you! My wife says that if she doesn't achieve all the accomplishments in this game in this lifetime, they will be the inheritance for our kids. She’s going to write an emotional letter giving them the mission to finish what she didn’t LOL.

She has over 780 hours in this game on her Steam account. So....almost 2000 hours (switch + steam)! She played throughout both entire pregnancies.

This year I’m going to play co-op with her! That was my New Year’s promise!
