@Pendergast Yes. What basically happens is when they're transferred over, they're put in the Go Park. Where you're given the ability to recapture them for your let's go game. Their stats are then converted to something appropriate for lets go and they're fully functioning Pokemon.
@Katelyn1223 @meaty-cheeky I imagine this is because Let's Go's version of EV (effort values). They were replaced with AV (awakening values) in Let's Go, which can be increased with candy. Which is probably why CP goes up, because CP is essentially a stand-in for your total stats and level.
Oof... It's fine to be a low budget and/or casual game. But the price and the quality simply do not match up here. $9.99 would be a lot for this, but what they're asking for is flat out robbery.
I'm fine either way. The meat of the series is in the multiplayer anyway. Though, I can't wait to dig into spirits, classic mode, and world of light, just because they look fun on their own.
I mean, it's a tank game. I also don't mind absurd anime themes. So if the controls are tight, and the game is stable, I'll get it just for that. But going by their track record, my confidence is low.
@BensonUii I know that feel. Had to deal with import costs getting my copy of Worms WMD from the UK not too long ago. (Super Rare Games)
Also, does anyone have a master list of all of these companies that do limited runs of games that don't normally have physical carts? At least for the Switch. I keep seeing new ones with games I missed, due to ignorance. I know of Limited Run Games, Super Rare Games, and now Special Reserve Games.
In virtually any other Pokemon games, I could understand save editing. I mean, I didn't agree with it, but I at least understood. But Pokemon let's go just seems to easy to even bother. You can beat it in a day and all of the pokemon are easy to obtain. Even shinies and high IV pokemon are relatively easy to chain for.
The only thing I can kind of understand is doing it for Mew.
@Trajan No, Ash was never really canon to the game series. The anime came AFTER the original games, and Yellow was a remake that leaned into the popularity of the anime. But Even then, you were never Ash.
Despite the knee-jerk reactions that happen with fanservicey games like this, I think it's harmless. I've even heard the gameplay for this can be legitimately fun as well, so I'm all for this.
That being said, it's not on the top of my list right now. But that's mostly because of the sheer amount of good games currently, and that soon will be, on the Switch. The next year seems like it might be hectic for me.
@Rayquaza2510 It's funny that people keep thinking the Switch is still a kid console, despite things like jrpgs, 80/90s nostalgia remakes, and m-rated games selling just fine. I imagine the Switch audience skews a bit more on the adult side at this point, especially with people who use it as a portable system.
Part of me thinks It's just that some developers are afraid the Switch is just a hype bubble or they are afraid of damaging good relations with Sony. It's hard to tell.
I can't take the VGA's seriously for the same reason I can't take oscars or emmys seriously. It's usually decided by who campaigns the hardest towards the end, so that some AAA company can put that GOTY label on their game's cover.
The only reason to keep a tab or screen up is for the game reveals/trailers for next years games. I'll probably be playing my Switch in handheld while this is on my tv waiting for just this reason. Bonus points if something rediculous and funny happens because some of these marketing reps forget how to human.
Has Leakypandy actually gotten enough right to be anywhere close to reliable? I can't remember, the Smash hype cycle has turned everything into a blur.
I had to take a bit to remember these ganes. You know a console has made it once it starts getting super obscure games like these. But I can't help but love the charm and nostalgia. Also, that trailer for Unwritten gave me a chuckle.
I need to look around for a size comparison. The problem the hori version had was it was seemingly made for tiny hands. If these has the same issue, it's a non-starter regardless of how ugly or pretty it is.
@sketchturner Two things of note here. First, compression on Switch games is insane and second, that huge download probably includes the massive 4k textures, which Switch would not need. Just the 1080p textures would shrink the file size dramatically.
I hope they bring more of their games over, Disgaea in particular. Just please, put them in a month where nothing else is going on. Despite what some of the doomsayers were telling everyone, the last few months felt more packed than they needed to be. Granted, I keep spreading out to more genres and niches as I get older, but still.
Waiting to clear some of my holiday single player backlog before I pick up Disgaea 1. Valkyria Chronicles 1 & 4, Starlink: Secret Starfox game, Diablo 3, and Dark Souls are enough for now. Lol
With the rampant piracy, dislike for foreign businesses, and borderline government-enforced oligarchy. I wouldn't expect as much as Nintendo does from China.
With all of the knockoff games coming out of China and other countries that tend to ignore foreign copyright. I imagine this is so they can at least enforce taking down stuff in Japan, and the western markets. I doubt these games will be coming to mobile.
Not that these ips can't come to mobile. Just that, if they do, it'll be in the form of a mobile specific game.
People keep assuming sales slumps for one ir two games did this. I'm willing to bet they canned one or two big projects they had under wraps, and THAT is what thus big loss is mostly about.
This sounds like Nintendo gave him their own short list and Sakurai picked from that. I wonder if they'll use this to promote (a) new game(s), or if they worked some things out with third parties.
Not that there's anything I want specifically right now. At least nothing realistic. But I'm extremely curious as to what we'll get. I guess we'll get an idea when we see the first one, some time next year.
@kobashi100 I'm aware that it is possible to play with the buttons and touch screen. But that's not how I want to play it. Especially not the touch screen.
Since the drum peripheral is the only real way to play this, I'll be holding off until I can get my hands on one. Don't really feel like importing it right now.
Gaming is already mainstream, to the point that some pro gamers are pulling in as many views as most old media celebs. So I think we're past the point of obsessing over every celeb that happens to play a videogame.
I think people are being a bit oversensitive about its theme. Probably a knee-jerk reaction because of what the news is constantly filled with nowadays. I've seen a let's player play a level or two of this and it's really just a tongue in cheek 2d stealth game. Nothing that serious.
The only off thing about this for me is the price tag. 15 bucks seems like a lot for what I saw. Which really wasn't that impressive.
Well, there was that whole rumor about a direct happening between the 5th and 12th. Wonder if the 8th really is a more general direct to set us up for early 2019 then, and this was apart of that.
That being said, I expect nothing, and I'm not sure I'll even use it anyway.
@Knuckles-Fajita TPCi is not some seperate company. It is a company that the three joint ip owners for Pokemon formed to manage the Pokemon license. They don't publish the main games, and they mostly handle licensing in regards to merchandise, and sometimes spinoff games.
They themselves don't really have a say in what happens in the main games. Gamefreak is the one that decides that, and Nintendo owns enough of the ip to have their say as well. But, to my knowledge, they're not heavy handed when it comes to doing so.
Oof... I'm still trying to get all of the old ones, without breaking the bank. Really hoping for a reprint in the west. But some of these are gonna have to take priority though. I want that leafy boi in my collection, yesterday.
The only thing I got from this article is we need a filter for file size on the Eshop... And a better Eshop layout. It would also be nice if the next revision had 128+ gigs by default, at least.
@mist I feel like they're more likely to support MK8 with dlc, if they do anything with MK within the next few years. Maybe later into the Switch lifespan.
@retro_player_22 If that were true, I'd have that problem in other games. But they all work just fine. Bubsy just has floaty controls. It's like a weird version of the momentum from Sonic games, while also being on ice. It makes for very awkward pmaying, especially with instant-kill enemies and a zoomed in perspective.
@retro_player_22 Have you played the old Bubsy games? I still have them, and they're terrible. Controls are floaty, the perspective is too zoomed in, and level design was garbage. Even my kid brain hated it, and it aged poorly on top of that.
@AlexSora89 Definitely! Real or not, the leaks are causing a lot of fuss in the community. Though, with a 40 minute direct, there's no way we don't get the full roster reveal. So I wouldn't worry about that.

@Enigk This is fair too, and I respect your opinion. Just keep in mind that others don't necessarily think the same. Especially the competitive community, who are salivating at the thought of new character info to theorycraft with before launch.
@Enigk I don't see the problem here. I get it that YOU don't need, or want, to see a long direct. But that doesn't mean Nintendo shouldn't have them, because there are a lot of people who do like watching the directs. If you don't want to watch it, don't. The new info is posted on the site immediately after the direct and every gaming news site will have their own list of things as well.
Also, the movie comparison is a poor one. Movies are entirely focused on the story, and are a passive experience. Games like Smash are focused on actually playing the game, and are interactive in nature. They are different on a fundamental level.
@Enigk Might be worth waiting for the cliffnotes version from a youtuber or blogger then. We both know Sakurai loves to explain things in detail. Not to mention, character reveals and story announcements aren't the only thing he could be going over.
