While most Bayonetta fans are waiting on the third entry to arrive at some point in the near future, the American singer, songwriter and actress Lady Gaga is busy playing through the first game.
According to one of her tweets, she's a bit of a "secret gamer girl" having recently completed Chapter IV in the first Bayonetta. Her interest surprised fans and gamers alike. Even Nintendo of America chimed in to show support:
In saying this, there's no guarantee she's actually playing the original game on a Nintendo platform. We would definitely like to think so, though. As usual, the Twitter responses were wild with some calling for her to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and others hoping she could perhaps do the theme song for Bayonetta 3.
While we're on the topic of celebrity-game news, Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson recently dressed up as Samus for Halloween. She even said in her own tweet that she would love to play the famous bounty-hunter from Metroid series. Take a look at her outfit below:
Whether you are a fan of these stars or not, it goes to show gaming is becoming more and more culturally accepted every day.
Thanks to LordRichyRich for the tip.

Those chapters aren't hard tho...in either game lol
Get ready for Stone awards later down the line :^]
Oh come on seriously?
This is pretty cool. I have beaten 2 twice, but I have yet to play through the first one. Might have to give it a go!
Stay away from samus. Then again, Larson has the emotional range of a rock so as long as Samus has her mask on, they should be good.
@MarioFan64 Serves you right trying to be an *** by posting first comment.
why should it seem so weird that celebs and other types of people who game is so unusual ???
I am a theoretical physicist, yet i LOVE Star Wars AND Star Trek
(yes, I am a hard core fan of BOTH, get over it), I am also a hard core Whovian since the 70's and yes, I game
a shnizzit load of seemingly wierd ideas that are contradictory to who I am and my career, but when it comes down to it.....I'm just a person, and people love all sorts of things, well, actors, singers, big business men (and women) are just people too, so why should Lady Gaga going Bayonetta seem surprising or even interesting at all ???
(the Samus Aran blond girl looks like a young Darryl Hannah, yummy)
@Kalmaro Do yourself a favor and watch ROOM. It’s amazing.
@gaby_gabito Same as me, played through the sequel twice on Wii U but never the original, despite owning it. If it ever gets a good discount on Switch I'll likely play it.
@Nemodius Great job, well played. I'm an armchair theoretical physicist and cosmologist, can't get enough of it.Just wish I had this hunger for it back in the day before I was an old codger.
Another must-read article by KotakuLife.
@Gauchorino another not needed comment in the comment section.
Brie Larson as Samus??? No thanks.
I have no idea who Brie Larson is, but at least she looks the part of Samus... I guess...? Weird article.
@Schwarcz
no offense to Brie Larson, gorgeous young lady, but I think Ronda Rousey (MMA) types or some current/former military personnel types
typically, a lot of the young "hot" women in hollywood just can't pull off that hardened, battle tested facial expressions and bodily movements, they try to act it, but can really never know and it shows on screen, it should be someone who knows what it's like to be beaten and give the beatings as well as guage threat assessments in feild and strategize on the go, millitary or martial artists are perfect
I’m surprised you guys didn’t post the Larson thing earlier. Even IGN has an article about it
@MarioFan64 yes
@OorWullie
great, I have a great respect for armchair scientists and inventors, more than some of my idiotic colleagues, armchairs are far more open minded and think outside of the box, believe it or not, I have learned over the years that most of those in my field as good at processing of hard data are also almost completely devoid of any imagination at all
@Nemodius I agree.
And most importantly, Brie Larson tends to mix politics/and Her agenda with the characters she portrays.
Samus is an iconic video game character, we cannot have someone pushing an agenda or a bad image to the character or the franchise.
Not to mention the "Dead Faces" Brie Larson is capable of making, even when climbing a rope.
@Katelyn1223 I don't remember what those chapters involve, but Bayonetta 1 had a lot, A LOT, of quicktime events where failure resulted in instant death.
The shadow remains cast...
Cara Delevingne (British model, actress) who is on every glamorous fashion ad is also a hardcore gamer.
@HatosBlack On the contrary, his comment is spot on and it is very much needed.
Her tweeting this made my week.
Honestly, considering how totally insane I've always thought Lady Gaga was, this is probably the most normal thing I have ever heard about her.
Yuck, it's cool that she plays Bayonetta but hard to take anyone who hashtags gamer girl seriously.
Beyonetta 1&2 are my all time favorite 3D action games though.
What? Lady Gaga is a human being that likes different types of media? Who would've thought?
Not surprised. Gaga could definitely channel Bayo well. When she cosplays at EVO like Jamie Lee Curtis then we’ll talk.
@Nemodius I can't. Ronda doesn't even have a career anymore and is on fake wrestling now right? She couldn't act her way out of a paper sack. She couldn't even make more than one "I think I'm pouting sexy but really look like He-Man face".
@Tasuki 4 thumbs down so far, shame as you're right. People who do that petty childish 'first' crap should get their posting privileges blocked, temporarily, permanent if it continues.
@Schwarcz And if you're correct about Larson being that way she needs to be kept far away from that character or any other that has a set personality to them. People need to get over their garbage and stop mixing political and social personal agendas with characters, especially well defined ones as it will just ruin a movie and would cause some to intentionally never bother paying to watch it.
Well thank god for that.
These people's opinions mean a lot to me.
@gaby_gabito @OorWullie If you guys haven't played the first one but really enjoyed Bayonetta 2 I don't know if it's be a good idea to play the first one. I had it when it was new on ps3 and I enjoyed it, but I got the 2nd one for the switch and tried to play it again since it was a game with gold, it's something about the combat and the dodging specifically that is off if you play the first one in retrospect. All I can say is Nintendo did a really good job helping with the sequel.
@Nemodius Slight problem with your choice:
Ronda Rousey cannot act.
@Nemodius What's you're favourite Star Trek episode? Mine is Honour Among Thieves in DS9.
@Schwarcz Why? I think she'd be great.
@Nemodius If Ronda ever plays Samus, I'll never watch that trash.
@saintayu I'm so happy someone else agrees with me on these points.
I guess you guys ran out of news and reached for the "emergency" news bag.
@gaby_gabito For me it's the other way around. I bought the box with bayo 1 and 2. Only played one and still have to play 2.
lol more and more culturally accepted? we aren't drug dealers! just consumers of highly legal entertainment

Mind your language - Octane
The fact that Liam specifically decided to mention Brie Larson, another female celebrity who mentioned a Nintendo game this week, makes it seem like he's reinforcing the stereotype that it's a shock or that it's weird that women play video games.
Person plays video games.
News at 11.
Gaming is already mainstream, to the point that some pro gamers are pulling in as many views as most old media celebs. So I think we're past the point of obsessing over every celeb that happens to play a videogame.
@FredBiletnikoff
Star Trek: Enterprise - The Andorian Incident (and pretty much every episode with Shran after that ties for #2, Shran's my bud)
@FredBiletnikoff
I believe I successfully explained, it was less about a specific person and more of the type, Ronda Rousey was an example of the type
anyway, big day, late y'all
Hey, if we're throwing around ideas of who could play Samus Aran, I think Elizabeth Debicki could do it. She definitely fits the part: she's the right height, within Samus' perceived age range, and she's an actual actor. She's even got the hair and eye color to boot.
Lady Gaga reveals that she's a poser who will say anything that makes her seem "trendy".
Gamer Girl? Yeah right..
Bayonetta? Oh..
@Heavyarms55 Pretty sure the crazy thing and the entire "Gaga" motif is just character acting. I recall some time ago video surfacing of her audition for a reality TV show and she was just a plain old normal nobody. I think the whole personality is just a showbiz shtick because nothing else got her noticed, and that did, and unfortunately, in showbiz, being highly talented doesn't net you as many gigs as being infamous.
Cheers to gamers of all walks. Take THAT world
@jbreez00 Yeah I played 2 first because my code for the first didnt work and I couldnt call Nintendo until Monday. I can't even dodge in the first game in normal. I get destroyed.
I'm not good at these type of games, and I only got this on hype. Kinda regret getting it tbh. Story makes no sense. But the combat in 2 is kind of neat.
We need to stop with celebrity worship.
@NEStalgia Yeah she has the crazy act to create controversy and therefore views and popularity. Everything wrong with the 2010s in a nutshell.
@Trajan
Yah, celebrity admiration is one thing, but a lot of these (especially singers and models) get almost diefied, I mean hey, I LOVE Jamie Lee Curtis, always have, had a crush on her for long time, but I was never so bad that even as a teen, if she walked up to me and had popped a boob out and rubbed it on my face, my pants would not fill with naughty juice, I love Metallica, Run DMC or Sylvester, but if I were invited on stage and handed an autographed anything, (yes, I LOVE heavy metal, Rap AND disco, get over it, I'm a sinner) I would not burst out in tears, ect., but too many people live their lives by these people and it's ridiculous
(another mortal sin, I am also a hard core Star Wars guru, a hard core Trekkie, (yes, it IS "Trekkie ) and a Hell Bent Whovian since the 70's, LOL, don't know why that pisses so many people off, being all three at once equally, but I don't care, LOL)
@quinnyboy58 If we were drug dealers, we'd have a lot more money and a lot less backlog.
Funny. I was just wondering about this the other day. Glad she cleared it up. Thank goodness twitter exists.
@HatosBlack Hey, if celebrities' tastes in video game characters interests you, that's fine. But that is extremely irrelevant on a website devoted to gaming news and reviews. NintendoLife isn't (yet) a clickbait/tabloid outlet intended to write articles that only tangentially are related to video games, which is why this article is out of place and should be called out for being so.
I can't put my finger on it, but lately, it does seem that a few authors of NL articles are desperate to publish a certain amount of articles per week/day rather than focus on publishing articles that are relevant to gaming news and reviews. I feel for them, but it is still a very damaging trend for this website and for its community.
The first one was way harder that the second, but still entirely awesome.
I knew I stanned for a reason
@NEStalgia That could at least be part of it.
Hope she plays on PS4
Maybe she's got an album coming out.
@Nemodius having seen Ronda's acting ability in WWE... yeah I don't see that working out.
@Zeraki
yah, another person who can't read
(btw UFC MMA)
Bayo is bae.
It's just a wonderful character and an amazing ARPG despite the lackluster story.
@FredBiletnikoff The way she carries herself to shove her political views to others, doesn't let me take her seriously
And even after the Oscar I still see people Overestimate her Acting skills, She's good? Yeah, she can be.
But we have many other actresses that are amazing as well.
Just my opinion though.
