@darkswabber Not like it would change the gameplay drastically anyway. It's better to give him a stable build they have on-hand, and is leak-safe, than to throw an NDA at the group and let him play a buggy build. Dude just wants to play, since he can't go to these events, and thankfully he had a decent session with friends/family.
@Bunkerneath At this point, they're marketing the 2DS/3DS line as a budget alternative to the Switch. The 2DS likely sells better, thanks to the cheaper price. Not to mention, a lot of people, especially kids, couldn't use the 3D without their eyes/head hurting.
@teixeiras The Labo piano will work with both the digital and physical version. They only mention the physical version because it's coming out later than the digital version.
@MeloMan Probably code for wanting to move on to new ips, which is a good thing. I wouldn't mind Remasters of 1 and X though, since I never got into them previously.
Got the VC4 CE, and Torna physical version coming soon. Won't be getting any small eshop games, because next month is a big month for physical releases, for me. But I'm probably going to get Ultimate Chicken Horse, Stick of Truth, and Beat'Em Up bundle, eventually. Good stuff there.
@retro_player_22 I know, and this is why I said it's not as bad as the Capcom collections. Still not optimal, for a long term collector, but not the worst. I would still prefer everything on cart, but nothing I can do about it.
My only gripe with the online service is not the price, or even the cloud saves; 20 dollars yearly isn't a huge deal.
My gripe is with the forced phone app for voice chat and game features(like in Splatoon). I'm not sure if it comes from ignorant old CEO's in Japan, or just a cultural bubble with a phone obsession. But it's frustrating, and unnecessary.
@SKTTR They pretty much killed the notion of a regular physical release for worms W.M.D awhile ago. So your best bet is the one from Super Rare Games that's going on sale sometime today. I think Limited Run might have Yooka-Kaylee as well, though that one is a tad pricey.
Here's hoping 2 and 3 aren't bolted to the vita/Sony by contract, and we get them sometime later. I like this take on turn-based strategy and want more of it.
Pre-ordered the standard version before the prime benefits ended, but Oof; Dat steelbook tho. That's such a good boy. Might have to get this one instead.
@NewAdvent I still think a schedule would alleviate some of the community's frustration. We expect them to happen, because they do happen, and quite often throughout the year. It's just that they're mixed in with other directs or randomly squished together at the beginning, middle, or end of the year.
@NewAdvent Who said monthly? I just said they should release a schedule, or they should do it at regular intervals.
A general direct every three months, consistently, would be great. They already release this many, or more, general directs yearly, and that's not including different types of directs. It's just done sporadically. Pepper in game-specific, indie, and micro-directs as needed. Just keep your big first and third party announcements to these directs.
As for toxicity, I'll concede that it exists in every community, regardless. But irregular schedules don't help it either. It ends up just being confusing, and frustrating, for engaged fans.
@NewAdvent At this point I wish they would just kill it off, officially, or announce a date. They really need a set schedule for Directs regardless, because most of the toxicity surrounding them comes from their inconsistency.
I don't trust sports games with 2k or EA behind it. But I'm still interested in Civ 6, so that's something. Didn't even known I wanted it until it leaked.
In other, better, news. Nintendo's Japanese Twitter account finally broke their silence 2 hours ago. Which, for those of us desperately waiting, should be a good sign.
@Wanjia The blurred lines between an open beta vs a stress test aside (open betas are meant to test things, including stability, when a lot of players are playing) the Japanese site pretty much called it a stress test, I think. Something just got lost in translation.
Either way, betas are how things are tested before the final release, because some things break when introduced to the public. Things like this are to be expected because this is the nature of betas. Problem being, thanks to indie PC games abusing the term, people keep mistaking "open beta" for "early demo"
@pika677 This here, what you're doing, is called a straw man. It's fine, if your only goal is to troll. But not if you want to make an actual point.
A lot of us openly admit to using the switch in portable mode, both in and out of the house. We don't have a problem with that. In fact, it's a huge draw for people who love games but don't love being tethered in front of their tv, for whatever reason.
What we don't like is "mobile games" which is code for phone games. Why? Because they're usually extremely simple, shallow, and often built around predatory microtransactions. Not all of them are necessarily bad, but they're not what we want on the Switch. If we wanted that, we'd just stick with our phones or tablets, and not bother with the 300 dollar gaming machine, with actual buttons and joysticks.
Honestly surprised this is the only real leak I saw that was probably direct-related. I though Amazon, being their typical selves, would have leaked all of the listings by now. Lol
5 pm my time? This actually works for my night owl schedule. I won't have to lose sleep to catch this one. Just hope the 3DS doesn't eat up too much time.
If it's a proper direct, that would be great. I don't expect anything huge, but a few smaller games would be nice. Maybe a few ports and DX versions as well.
As long as it's not too indie or 3DS focused. If it were, I would be thoroughly dissapointed. Indies are fine, but we've already got a lot of them confirmed for the Switch. I really want some big and mid tier games to play.
I was apprehensive when they first announced this game, but the trailers and info since then has convinced me. This is going to be a hard pass. I'm just not interested.
Glad to hear that VC1 will basically be a definitive edition. Really hope we get 2 and 3 sometime later as well. After playing the VC4 demo, I'm kicking myself for somehow missing this series when it came out.
Though that new VC4 info has me weighing just how essential the haffen tank figure + artbook are to me. I'll probably cave regardless, but it gives me something to ponder.
It looks like a step up from the shovelware Kart games. But it still looks a little too rough for me, and there's nothing that makes it different enough to stand out for me.
I'm also not desperate for a Kart racer, since I'm not burned out on MK8D yet, so that doesn't help. I'd rather wait to see how Team Sonic Racing turns out, since I'm interested in the team mechanic.
This reminds my that the only neon color of joy-con I don't have is yellow. I don't see that changing, because the yellow is just too bright for my taste.
I desperately need to see the gameplay of the other worlds before I grab this game anyway. I don't mind a little mindless hack and slash, but not for the whole game.
I'd prefer it were physical, but I'm still interested. Loved the VC4 demo, so grabbing any VC stuff sega gives us. I hope 2 and 3 make their way to the Switch as well.
Honestly wouldn't mind more X-com inspired strategy games for Switch. With or without a Nintendo character. Aside from Mario, I think that's what helped it, since there's not many big ones on the platform yet.
Getting both the Torna expansion and Valkyria chronicles. I'd have to say I'm a little nore hyped for VC, partly because I'm getting the CE version, with the tank and art book.
Assuming this is a thing, I'm interested. Also, even though I seem to be one of the few who wasn't big into Diablo way back when, I'm greatly amused at the thought of a Demon amiibo next to my Starfox and Kirby Amiibo.
I like to take these leaks with a grain of salt, but a lot of these details make it seem like a safe bet. Nothing too crazy here, almost to the point of this not really being newsworthy.
@XenoShaun Could the price hikes in part be due to VAT? I've seen it can get higher than 20% in some EU countries, and that seems rough to me at the mere 7% state sales tax I pay. Another difference is your VAT is usually included in the price and our sales tax isn't. So when you see $59.99, it really means someone is paying around 65 USD for it.
My opinion is the same as it has always been. Fan games are fine, but when you flat out rip assets from their games, and put Pokemon in the name, you're asking for it.
They're obligated to defend their intellectual property, because not doing so could cause issues later when defending it against more serious infringement.
There's a relatively easy way to avoid the stress; use your own assets and/or, at the very least, don't put real pokemon in your game or title. You can even advertise it as a game inspired by pokemon and maybe even legally SELL it. Legitimate indie developers do this all the time. Some fan games even grow to be their own thing.
Not bashing the game, but is it really big enough for its own direct? I guess the FEH game is fairly successful, but this just seems out of place to me.

Re: These Officially Licensed Switch Controllers Come With Gyro Support And Mappable Buttons
The fact that it runs on AA batteries killed it for me. I'd rather pay 10-15 more for a pro-controller because of that alone. :/

Re: Feature: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Team Talk Torna, Female Blades And The Ending That Never Made It
@Supadav03 Do you want a solid 3D RPG or a, Final Fantasy inspired,
2D JRPG. Both are good timewasters, so it's down to genre preference.

Not quite as good as the Sega bundle, but I'll end up getting it eventually anyway.
Just wish these games made it onto the cart, but I guess it's not as bad as Capcom's mega man collections.
Re: Nintendo Is Bringing More Than 40 Playable Games To EGX This Week, Here's The Full List
I saw Wargroove in there. Hoping to see more about it, since it's the closest thing to Advance Wars I'll be getting for a long time.
Speaking of Advance Wars, I would be happy to see the original on the NES service, at some point.

Well, that's a thing. I guess Starlink and Mario + Rabbids is good. Just wish there was more like that from Ubi.
Most of these games are things I'd buy on sale for the novelty that stay on my shelf for the majority of their existence.
Re: Has Nintendo Accidentally Revealed The Entire Cast Of Super Mario Party?
Not a huge spoiler, considering the game. The biggest curveball they could've thrown here is playable bowser and the first trailer showed that.
What I'd really want to see is if they had a larger board than what was shown already.
