Only thing I'm worried about is a significant portion of Smash Twitter/youtube imploding, if the Grinch leak turns out to be fake. I'll have to avoid Smash discussions for awhile, if that happens. Lol
The art style is more appealing than most Smash-like games I've looked at and the roster has a lot more for me than Brawlout. So it's probably worth a shot. But it'll have to wait for the Smash hype to calm down for me.
@AlexSora89 Yeah, it's pretty much just a few overzealous groups arguing that their favorite leak is right and anything to the contrary is wrong. Mostly because they have characters they like.
I'm crossing my fingers for that rumored November 5-12th direct to be the final Smash direct. Just so everyone stops arguing about the leaks.
I also can't wait for Smash to release, so that the news cycle isn't so dominated by it. It's a bit exhausting now, and I want news on things like Metroid and Luigi's Mansion. Lol
If this 4 player coop mode is online and/or local, this is amazing news. Love the vehicle as well. Only other thing I really want is a little more block variety and I'm all set.
@AlexSora89 What I got out of it? That he was slowing down the frequency of announcements, but he didn't specify how much exactly. It's unclear if this was in reference to characters or general Smash content either. So that's why I said he was unclear and/or purposely vague.
The only definitive statement we got from him on this is that all of the characters would be revealed before launch. So, if there are more characters in the base roster, that means November is his last window to reveal them. How many characters and how much other content? No idea.
3) Subtlety was lost in translation from Japanese to English, and we misunderstood exactly what he meant.
4) He was purposely vague. He wasn't clear in his wording.
Regardless, I'm not sure I believe the Grinch leak like everyone else. There are a lot of fine details that seem off to me, and a lot of people seem to defend it because they want it to be real. Rather than because of the evidence itself.
@AlexSora89 I don't see how this deconfirms a direct, be it a Smash direct or a Nintendo Direct with Smash announcements. He previously said he would reveal all characters before release. He also didn't say character reveals would stop either. He just said they would slow down, which was probably referring to how frontloaded reveals were earlier.
Not to mention, he still has other game features and content that he could elaborate on in a direct. Like the mysterious "spirits" mode everyone is speculating on. Which he'll want to do before Smash launches. So it's a guarantee we'll get Smash announcements before launch. It's just a matter of when in November it happens.
@Franklin I assume you mean for the Smash meter option. If so, whoever activates it first gets priority. Then the next final smash activates after the first one finishes, and so on. No simultaneous final Smash activations.
@AxeltheBuizel The terrifying part is it doesn't need to, as long as the whales keep dumping money into it. The microtransactions eclipse any profits from the sale of the actual game, by a large margin.
Maybe this is me hoping for too much. But I kind of hope running a casual series in parallel allows them to decasualize the main series a bit. Then I at least would shut up and be happy.
My biggest gripe with let's go was that Sun/Moon were already fairly easy, for the most part, as were X and Y. So it would be nice if they dedicated a few games to the core audience that's been with them forever now.
@BensonUii I don't think you're getting the point of my posts. I'm saying certain microtransaction tactics, especially random packs, are a bit exploitative and you keep bringing up that it's more profitable than not doing them... Dude, what?
@BensonUii I don't see how it being a mobile game excuses exploitative business practices. If I'm going to rag on EA for doing the same thing, I'm not going to make an exception here, just because it's Nintendo. I like to stay intellectually consistent that way.
@BensonUii The reason us "hardcore gamers" hate the microtransactions in these types of gacha games is that they're similar to EA's lootboxes. In that they're flat out designed to press the same buttons that casinos do to get you to gamble more.
Even worse, games like this tend to add an extra level of abstraction by allowing you to purchase ingame currency, making it easier to spend on expensive items. A lot of the whales we mention aren't even aware they're whales, until they get calls from their bank or have it pointed out to them.
Maybe I worry too much, but seeing these gacha games and F2P mobile titles work so well makes me a little uneasy.
All I know is that the moment any of these sorts of payment models crosses over into Nintendo's main games is the point where I fully embrace retro and PC gaming.
I'm going to need more info in this post-game content, before I'm convinced. FireRed/LeafGreen had some beefy post-game, so it's still a tough sell for me.
@roboshort Yup, just like their Nintendo sports titles. You sort of just get them as they come out, so that you have more ammo for parties and family night. A lot of people who own a Nintendo console eventually get a few of them. It's pretty much a given.
I'm kind of hoping we get a Mario Sluggers, Mario Strikers, or a Warioware next year too. Need to keep filling up my party game list.
As long as its at least as good as DQB1 I'll get it. Don't really see myself bothering with the demo though, because I pretty much know what to expect.
Kind of want a compilation of all the old minigames in one place someday... Except the one where you wind up the shy guy. That one destroyed countless N64 joysticks and gave my palms blisters. That one should be banished to the shadow realm.
Finished I am Setsuna. Now I'm just trying to finish 100%ing N-sane trilogy and Shantae so I can check them off my list before Smash takes up some of my time.
This is good for those of us wanting crossplay to become the standard. These games are already multiplatform, restricting multiplayer is just an old hat way of doing things that needs to die.
Game is fun, my only real gripe is it could use a few more boards for the main mode. Even nicer if we could get one or two boards that were a bit larger. The smaller maps make sense, there's just something missing without those large boards from the older games.
I'm really hoping they support this game with some free dlc like their other games.
Honestly, considering the issues with telltale, I doubt all of the old team even wants to be back on the project. I imagine a lot of them feel too burned by this situation to jump back in.
I don't care much either way, as I would prefer bundles on physical carts, like other companies are doing. I like to actually own my games, and it would be nice to not have to deal with ROMs.
@Trilerium This is definitely a pretty good one. But it's far from what I'd consider the best. If you can handle jenky graphics, and can get your hands on them, it's worth checking out the old ones.
MP 3 was probably the best, but 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7 all were at least decent. 8 and up is where it got a bit iffy.
@Dr_Corndog This game is fairly generous with coins, and the star cost has been cut in half from previous games. So I'd say the raw movement potential outweighs the coins lost, especially if you're good at mini-games. At least in regards to racing around a board.
That being said, there is also some value in the consistant blocks, like Shyguy or Daisy, because it allows you to land on specific spaces more often. Which is good for gaining bonus stars, allies, or event spaces. This makes them really good on the Megafruit board, for instance.
But overall, dice that are both inconsistant AND low numbers overall are objectively trash. Unfortunately Yoshi fits both of these criteria. You're flat out better off using the default die 90% of the time.
This is weird to see, considering having Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming apps would help keep people on the system longer. Yet they still don't have anything but hulu.
They're a bit corny, so I wouldn't buy them myself. But if an old family member got me one insteady of a more traditional version, I'd actually wear them. Seems like a good joke gift for gamers as well.
Honestly just seems like something modders have been doing since minecraft existed. So I'm not sure how receptive the PC crowd will be to it as a seperate game, unless the combat mechanics are significantly different.
Art style is typical and generic, though was willing to look past that, since it doesn't really bother me. But, when it got to the actual gameplay, my eyes glazed over and I immediately became more interested in what I was going to eat, do, or play, later. It's the typical nonsense that keeps me from taking the medium seriously, just done the Japanese way.
It's a shame, because I don't mind the anime style music or art style. It's just that the gameplay isn't there for me.
@Shigmin Keep in mind, -ette is also a common way to feminize names. Which is why the name Toadette exists in the first place. Not to mention, when it comes to the internet, the catcher name always wins.
@Shendow I think you're conflating their job as a platform holder vs their job as a first party developer. Just because they allow M-rated games on their platform does not mean they can't keep their first party franchises family-friendly. That's an absurd argument to make.
It's hard to tell the rabbid memers from the people seriously thinking Nintendo would embrace this heavily fetishized character. Can't wait until this twitter bubble bursts and my timeline isn't full of this stuff anymore. Lol
@Gridatttack I mean, if there was a good way to mix Peach and Bowser. I'm sure people would use it. But -ette has always been an easy way to feminise names that were otherwise neutral or masculine. So it's not entirely wrong, because that's why Toadette's name existed.
Not like the concept of Peachette makes much sense anyway, since it's basically Peach in a new costume. I'm still struggling to reconcile it with Mario lore. Lol
As lackluster as people say Team Sonic racing is, this game looks like garbage next to it. So I don't see myself jumping on this at all, aside from bargain bin dives when big releases slow down.
Liked the anime until the second arc of season 1. There were things I could nitpick, as a gamer, and it wasn't amazing. But I enjoyed it, until the second arc, which I forced myself to watch all the way through. But I hated that second arc so bad I stopped at the end and didn't bother with the Gun Gale arcs. So the ip isn't a great draw for me.
That being said, I'll check it out if the gameplay is good. But nothing I've seen so far has impressed me. Looks like a typical generic licensed game.
