Re: Three, Yes Three Resident Evil Games Are Headed To Nintendo Switch In 2019

@c2017nlifemedia Actually, they cut down on a lot of effects on the Switch version. There's pretty much no AA, the flashlight casts no shadows, model textures are lower quality, so foliage has really tiny draw distance with very visible pop in, etc. Still a good game, but then again it uses an old engine designed for last gen consoles, not the modern one RE7 uses.

Not bad. I like the classic style re games, not so much re4. It's an action game and re5 does action better. But I'll probably get all three.

What happened to Code Veronica, though? It was released in HD for the x360/ps3, but never got released on pc and now will be missing from Switch.

Just a warning about REmake: they lost the original files for the prerendered backgrounds, so they just upscaled and filtered the low res GC original files. In some cases, they look like distorted to hell gif files since they tried sharpening filters. 0 doesn't have that problem and they actually provided high free backgrounds.

Re: Hardware Review: NS Glasses 3D VR Headset for Switch

@BigKing No, actually, since the two Prophets of the Holy VR keep stating their PREDICTIONS as FACTS, you DO indeed need to see the future.

So far VR is a footnote like many gimmicks before it, in my opinion. Once it truly becomes mainstream, then you can laugh at anyone who thought it wouldn't happen. Not that you should, since that's how total douchebags act.

I tried VR, I didn't like it, that's that. You won't change my mind no matter how many times you call me ignorant (even though I'm not, I just have a different opinion) or praise the Holy VR in the sky. I'm not a fan and I don't see it as the end all be all you picture it as. Wake me up when we get ALL the senses perfectly recreated and replacing the natural ones when using this technology.

Seriously, it feels like Mirak is behind VR in this comments section.

Wow, this comments section turned into a real Church of the Holy VR of the latter VRaints. I guess the Holy VR gave its believers the power to see into the future so that they can say with 100% certainty that their prediction will come true and others' won't.

Also, I can't take seriously at all someone who calls the other person an 'ignoramus' in a serious discussion and not as a joke.

Re: Skyrim Still Doesn't Support Mods On Switch So Fans Have Taken Things Into Their Own Hands

Razzy

I've put around 200 hours into the Switch version si far and the lack of mods is almost physically painful. And before the local chucklenuts butt in with snarky remarks on big boobs and chain bikinis, I mostly mean mods that fix any of the endless bugs still present in the game, extending some quests and maybe feet that don't look like slabs of melted butter.

I currently have three quests I cannot finish due to bugs. I'm also refusing to do the current stage of the main quest because I hate the character involved, but she stays essential the entire game and you can't even tell her to go and sit on a cactus. And I really could use better character models, even if clothed. Or a fix that makes the ardor Falmer helmet actually work as heavy armour as it should.

Gotta look into how to mod this version. Since it has no developer console, I could really use mods fixing certain quests.

Re: Feature: A 20th Anniversary Zelda Adventure - Playing Ocarina Of Time For The First Time

Razzy

I only had portable consoles when young, so I never played OOT until about a year or two ago on the 3DS. Not bad, but it off the contemporary action adventure games of that period, I prefer Soul Reaver. It's amazing how epic level voice acting can enrich the experience. Plus, despite being on the weaker console, it blows OOT out of the water technically.

I probably wouldn't have liked OOT back in the day. Having seen some screenshots and videos, the original looks like muddy pea soup. The 3ds version looks really nice, though.

Re: Sony Will Step Away From The Handheld Games Business In 2019, Leaving It All To Nintendo

Razzy

That's a shame. Even though my first two handhelds were the gbc and gba, I then went for PSP2000 and never regretted it. The games it had were astounding compared to the DS. Heck, even 3Ds games only beat PSP games in terms of graphics sometimes due to real shaders, PSP is still better at complex geometry.

I dunno, over half the sales of a cheaper handheld from the many years long of handhelds for a new player in the handheld domain seems like a success to me.

The Vita was even better, but, sadly, the support dropped pretty fast. The horribly expensive memory didn't help. Though, nowadays, with a hacked vita and an SD adapter, that's not really a problem.

Though, I find it funny that the Vita still got an exclusive (at least until the HD) edition AC game, and the PAP got exclusive AC and GTA games, plus even the DS's exclusive GTA game, while the Switch didn't get any such stuff.

Loss of competition will only hurt the industry. I mean, nVidia has no competition in the top performance market and just look at the prices of their newest graphics cards.

@NEStalgia You mean like the Wii U was a me too PS3/PSP combo, amirite?

Re: The Nintendo Switch NES Controllers Are Now Available To Pre-Order In Europe

Razzy

@slatanek yeah, I have one blue left joycon that drifts up, one red left joycon that drifts left and one red right joycon that drifts down. I'm just waiting for the blue left joycon to start drifting right and I'll have a full set. XD

Well, the Gamecube controller is really just a cheap reshelled ripoff of the Dualshock, so yeah.

I'm thinking of sending the first set of joycons in for warranty repairs, but apparently in Poland it means that they get sent to the Czech Republic or something, which takes ages.

Funny thing is, I've had my Vita since 2012 or 2013 and the analog sticks still work without any problems or errors, like on the day I got it.

Re: The Nintendo Switch NES Controllers Are Now Available To Pre-Order In Europe

Razzy

@slatanek The joycons are the most failure-prone controllers I've ever used. Out of 4 joycons I have, 3 developed analog drift problems (aka. The analog input registers often even when centered or sticks registering after being released). One after just two months.

People suggested blowing into the analog sockets with compressed air, but that only helped temporarily and quickly lost effectiveness.

The quality of Nintendo controllers is really overhyped.

Re: Guide: How Cloud Saves Work In Nintendo Switch Online

Razzy

@NEStalgia That's pretty much what I meant. :B All this could've been solved at many points in the past, or could even be solved now, since Splatoon is patched for every content update anyway. But nope, let's do it the stupid way.

Re: Guide: How Cloud Saves Work In Nintendo Switch Online

No, they don't exclude Splatoon to prevent cheating. They do it because they are to lazy or inept or both to provide cloud saves for it in a manner that prevents that. Other online games on other consoles don't seem to have this problem.

This save game protection racket is despicable.
