Japanese sales figures are now in for the week of 24th - 30th September, with multiple new Switch releases jumping immediately into the top ten of the charts.
Warriors Orochi 4 was the top-selling new release in Japan both on Switch, and as a whole, with the PlayStation 4 version selling 100,831 retail copies as opposed to Switch's 26,660. This happens to be quite the trend this week, as FIFA 19 saw similarly strong sales on Sony's machine (57,772 copies), with Nintendo's sales being considerably lower at 16,200.
While PlayStation is currently sitting pretty at the top of the software charts, the Switch has kept a dominance on the top 20 overall, snagging 14 of the available spots.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is great on Switch, I hope it’s a success.
BOTW is still on the charts there?
Are we winning
@Mew BotW, Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 keep selling, as do new Switches. Look like people are buying a lot of Switches, but are also buying them with those three exclusive titles, either getting other games on PS4s or getting them after they beat/get bored of those three.
When you're no longer number one

@Mew most likely because of hardware bundles
Glad to see DragonBall FighterZ right there in the top 10.
That game is great and runs like butter on the Switch, I'm glad I've preorder it.
Japanese Switch owners arent into 3rd party games that much I noticed.
LABO Toy Con 03 Vehicle Kits on number 19 ?!
Aaaa.......
Gasp! Splatoon 2 has fallen out of the top 10! I expect normal service to be resumed next week, though. I had thought this would be the week the inklings overtook Minecraft, too.
The Switch sales for Warriors aren't that impressive, set against the PS4 tally, but how many musou titles has the Switch had in a year and a half? Six? Seven? Eight? That is one saturated market.
What about Valkyria 4 on PS4? Did it bomb too?
@SmaggTheSmug
(Looked at Crying Spiderman)
@Frendo well PS4 already sold the hardware. Switch is year and a half old while the PS4 is from 2013. Most people have the console and they just buy the games now.
Still crazy to me that Splatoon 2 has outsold SMO and BOTW in Japan. Can't be overstated just how massive Splatoon is as a franchise for Nintendo now.
@Lando_ Back in March, VC4 sold 76,000 copies on PS4 in it’s first two weeks.
B-but I keep hearing that everything sells better on Switch, and if it doesn't, it's because the game sucks. Do VC4 and WO4 suck, then?

The Switch is selling awesome, but the PS4 has a massive head start and still has a larger install base.
Also, at this point I am really losing interest in lists of game sales that don't count digital sales. In this day and age, I have to imagine that digital accounts for a very meaningful percentage of overall sales. Enough that counting it could change these lists.
So I am really only interested in hardware numbers.
5,596 for Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a joke. Hopefully the West will carry it. I got the Switch LE.
After selling 100K of PES - PS4 still has enough people to sell more FIFA copies than on Switch by a mile - where it has zero competition. 100th rehash of The World Ends with You is a failure - go figure.
Watch the masses convince themselves that because Nintendo charts a collection of Mini Games next week - "everything is great"
I would love Trails of Cold Steel 3/4 on Switch. Played 1 and 2 on VITA on the GO. Be strange to play them on home console now 😐
Switch has a smaller install-base, no surprise
@subpopz You're comparing worldwide sales numbers. In Japan only, PS4 only has 7 million in sales while Switch is at 5 million. PS4 still leads, obviously, but it's not by a very wide margin.

@Lando_ Sold around 75k copies in the first two weeks back in March in Japan. These Switch numbers are probably the result of a 6 month old port i think.
Since the Switch version was only released now in Japan i'm not surprised with these numbers, until now japanese players could only buy the PS4 version after all. I have a feeling the Switch version it'll do better in the west though...
DBZ runs great on Switch. I imagine the Switch version would have sold better if it had been released alongside the other versions or perhaps with DLC included. Right now on other formats you can pick up the Xenoverse 2/Fighter Z double pack for the same price as Fighter Z solo on Switch. Not great value there which is sure to harm sales.
@Tokiwa @Mrtoad Ah, I see, thx.
Hope they enjoy Dragon Ball FighterZ and move on from Xenoverse 2. It's still nice they love that one but Dragon Ball FighterZ is where it's at now. Only disappointing thing I don't like about the Switch port is that all of the DLCs will have to be rebought since I also got the PC port. Would had wish Bamco include all the DLCs so far in the cartridge to begin with.
@Agramonte not going to say that everything is great, but ps4 is not perfect either. If Nintendo wanted to make a powerful system, they can. They don't want to because what would that accomplish? The Xbox x is more powerful than ps4 but since Microsoft is not a Japanese company, their hardware is not selling well.
@ekwcll I think it is powerful enough for games like Vaky4 and DB-Z. People just need to go buy it.
Ahhhh Kirby has finally dropped out of the Japanese top 20, some 7 months after it launched...now where's that dude who said it would disappear after a week?
