Re: House Of The Dead 1 And 2 Are Coming To Switch

Razzy

The Polish site linked states that they'll have fully new graphics to bring them in line with modern standards and slightly modified gameplay, but they'll keep the original screenplays. Hopefully that also includes original voices. :B

Also, awesome!

Re: Poll: Is Your Switch Lite Suffering From Joy-Con Drift?

Razzy

"They're lying, you're all lying, the drift doesn't exist, I'm not crazy, you're all crazy, REEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" s'what I keep hearing.

Hmm, going by the poll, just shy of one fifth of users are affected by the problem. I guess it's not 99.999%, so it's not 'widespread' .

Out of all the consoles I've had that have analog sticks (ps2, ps3, psp2000/3000/go, vita, 3dsxl, new3dsxl), I've only ever had drifting problems with my first psp. But it was tiny constant movement right out of the box, so it was just misalignment or something, got replaced on warranty and had no problems since, and I used all my handhelds for multiple years. Hell, my vita is 7 years old and not a single instance of drift.

Meanwhile, out of 5 joycons I have, 4 started drifting, sent them in for repair, two for fixed, 'found no problem' with the other two. Of course the ones they found no problems with were still drifting once I plugged them in, I guess they didn't bother to use them for five minutes, as that's about as long as it takes the drift to kick in on their case. And one of the fixed ones started drifting again after two weeks. And the left one of the set I bought to replace my original ones started drifting before the month was over after purchase.

Though, not like I was going to buy A Switch Lite anyway, the lack of rumble sucks too much for Skyrim lockpicking. :B

Re: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Patch Revises Sensitive Dialogue

Damn Sony, censoring games again while Nintendo reaffirms its role as the bastion of freedom!... Wait.

I love how @NIN10DOXD completely ignored the definitions of self-censorship provided. Whatever is not consistent with the party line doesn't exist.

Edit: Though, it's not as huge of a deal when you realised that despite all the claims that Nintendo no longer censors games, the western release was censored from the start:

Uncensored my ass.

Re: Review: Doom 3 - A Dark, Unnerving Oddity In The Slayer Series That Still Impresses

Razzy

I never played the game before, played through it and all the expansions now and enjoyed it greatly. The framerate does tank hard on more complicated areas with lots of geometry and alpha-heavy glass, especially with flashlight shadows on (mind you, that setting also affects other light sources), but fights are pretty smooth.

I like the rechargeable flashlight, still requires strategising. One thing that sucks is that they removed muzzle flash lighting for your weapons in the bfg edition. I've read that it's because the engine chugs down hard when a single object emits more than one light, so they had to disable these to allow for the attached flashlight.

One thing that sucks is that they didn't add the super shotgun from the expansions to the base game. The base game really lacks a close range and powerful weapon, the regular shotgun is weak and other nonexplosive weapons require sustained fire.

All in all, a very enjoyable game, but it really needs motion aiming and subtitles.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of DOOM, DOOM II And DOOM 3

Razzy

They're not really nitpicking here, though. While a lot of Doom 3 on Switch is 60 FPS, some areas do drop the framerate like a red-headed stepchild.

I played through the entire main campaign in handheld mode, fov 80, flashlight shadows on and while the game was smooth as a whole, certain areas would drop down even to the 20s. Particularly larger areas, or areas with lots of glass and geometry.

Of course doing stuff like blowing up several barrels at once will make the engine tank as well.

One instance of repeatable slowdown was kinda funny, though - a single run of metal stairs by a wall, not a large location, nothing really that taxing... But the moment the flashlight was on, the game would drop to the 20s, but just for these stairs. Weird.

Still, all in all, a good port, plus it let's you turn the flashlight shadows off of you prefer better FPS over them.

Re: You'll Need A Bethesda Account To Play DOOM And DOOM II On Switch

Razzy

Wow, this and other gripes people have about these versions, I think I'll wait for Dundee patches. Not too mention, why the hell is there no online play?

I like how so many people just past here to insult people having a problem with this and completely ignore their issues while saying how easy and quick it is to make an account. Despite sums posters mentioning that they've had to spent over half an hour on it due to server problems. Gg.

Re: Soapbox: Sorry Nintendo, Joy-Con Drift Means I Won't Buy Switch Lite At Launch

Razzy

@JayJ Riddle me this, then, how come my Vita, bought half a year after launch, has never had any analog stick problems, while four of my five joycons have? I didn't pamper it, compared to it, I take care of my Switch and the joycons like a baby. I used the Vita inside, outside, dropped it a few times, button mashed in Freedom Wars when cutting off abductor limbs so hard I eventually physically broke the circuit ribbon reading button presses for circle and triangle, yet, all this time, the analog sticks never even once registered an input I didn't want them to?

Meanwhile, I sent four joycons in for repairs, two got replaced sticks, two were diagnosed with 'No problem detected'. Of course I plugged in those latter two and, after a few minutes of playing, they started drifting again. I guess they didn't bother to check them for a few minutes unless they were drifting hard from the get go, like the first two.

Oh, also, one of the two with replaced sticks started drifting two weeks after being returned to me. Meanwhile, my Vita's sticks still refuse to register even a single phantom input.
