Re: Opinion: Pokémon Legends Z-A Is The Creepiest Entry Yet, Not In A Good Way

Razzy

@Jeronan Well, that's simply not true. Even just speaking of Bethesda's NPCs, quest-related NPCs, including quest givers, have their daily schedules, in Oblivion even different for every day of the week. They change places, sit down, work, eat, drink, sleep, etc. Eg. Balgruuf, the jarl of Whiterun in Skyrim, he does sit a lot on his throne, but he has multiple conversations with various NPCs, unique with named ones who meet him often, he also goes to the table at the scenic terrace to eat, goes to the map room to stratergise, goes to his room to sleep with his wife in their bed, etc. At any and all locations he will already react to the player and other characters just being close to him and doing stuff. And that's just him. Most NPCs have schedules, sometimes more complicated.

Skyrim dialed it down by getting rid of schedules unique for each day of the weak, but instead they expanded random little things NPCs would do and radiant quests. Oblivion, however, had this pretty much down pat. I dunno why GF can't even approach a 19 years old game on a buggy engine in terms of how alive their NPCs seem to be.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

Razzy

Maybe once we get a combined game and dlc on one cart relesse, but even then I'm iffy, it just feels so constrained compared to Arceus, and the environments somehow look worse.

The poll needs 'Waiting for a sale' and 'Waiting for a physical edition with dlc included on cart' options.

Re: Rumour: Silent Hill 2 May Be Coming To Switch 2 As Its Exclusivity Window Ends

Razzy

@Smerd Dunno, a lot of people tend to react as if their feelings were host anyone someone doesn't show utmost respect to Nintendo, it just feel like one of these times, could've been wrong, though.

All any publishers get excited for is potential money, Switch 2's use base is too small for that. Though I suppose they could get excited for even a small use base so starved for games for their new system that they will swallow up games that were considered mid to bad on other systems.

GKCs are in-topic for new third party game releases, though, unless it has been confirmed that the game will release full on cart, seeing as the great majority of third party games get released as GKC.

I do vote with my wallet and I'm quite happy to do so. I can also announce how I'm going to vote, just at people announce how they're going to vote, whether they're going to buy the game or not.

Jeez, dude, don't make it weird with that ball-banging fetish of yours.

Re: Rumour: Silent Hill 2 May Be Coming To Switch 2 As Its Exclusivity Window Ends

Razzy

@Smerd We don't have to get over anything, I'll gladly keep breathing the 'GKC sucks hairy balls' drum into my hand goes numb. <3

1 and 2. So far the Switch 2 install base is lower than XSX, so not much excitement.

3. And whose choice is that? Nintendo intentionally chose that solution, knowing it'll be too slow, because it saved them a few $ and their new their fans would swallow it.

You can't really tell people to stop complaining about stuff they don't like just because it hurts your feelings.

Re: Aspyr Brings Deus Ex Remastered To Switch Next February

Razzy

@sketchturner A lot of their releases has problems, the SW:Battlefront games were a particular ***** show, they also use a lot of very questionable AI in their remasters, like textures on the aforementioned games or Lara's voice on the Tomb Raider remasters, where they had to remove new AI-generated lines after the actor sued them.

I think Soul Reaver is a bit different in that the games have a really tight and a bit fanatical fanbase and Aspyr managed to get them working on the remaster, and even then it released with bugs.

Judging by the screenshots and trailer, this doesn't look nearly as good as SR:R, the new human models in particular look really or of place and AI-generated, so far that I'm having GTA:RT flashbacks. I'll hold my judgment for the actual release, though. Hopefully, they'll do what they did for TR and SR - single press toggle for switching between remastered and original graphics.

Funny thing, there's already a version of Deus Ex with great looking models that fit the game much better - the PS2 version
Alas, in turn it has much smaller levels, though with more details, and greatly simplified and dumbed down gameplay/mechanics.

Re: Opinion: Resident Evil Requiem Represents A Turning Point For Switch 2

Razzy

Nah, not a turning point. We'll see more ports until the next gen releases, and that's thanks to Microsoft, since the XSS parity requirement means that there's a much weaker spec version required anyway. It still has to be downgraded, since S2 can't keep up even with that hardware, but the gap is much smaller.

Once the next gen comes, it'll be back to the Switch 1 scheme again, especially if Microsoft doesn't go for 2 SKUs this time around. But we'll also don't get nearly as many indies if Nintendo doesn't get it's arse in gear and actually get dev kits to smaller developers.

PS. It's nice that the new RE is coming to S2, but the footage doesn't look that promising, lots of graphical downgrades and low and, worse yet, unstable framerate with lots of stutter.

Re: Ys X: Proud Nordics Sails West On Switch 2 In Early 2026

Razzy

I have purchased physical collector's editions of every single Ys game available on handhelds sans Ys: Origin (f*ck ultra limited editions) and the Vita version of Ys8 (money was tight and it wasn't available in Europe), but this... This I probably won't get. I'll probably wait for a deep sale of the digital version. F*ck game key cards and f*ck screwing over regular version owners.

Re: Nightdive Studios And Limited Run Revive System Shock 2 With A 'Big Box Edition'

Razzy

Why, why Limited Run? Their shipping costs are ridiculous if you don't live in the US!

I guess I lower myself be fooled into thinking that euro game remastered will get more widely available physical and collector's editions after Soul Reaver 1/2 and The Thing. These were quite nice, not expensive and available on Amazon. Even the CE of Ys: Felghana was at least available on Amazon in the US, so I could order it without paying a fortune for shipping.

Re: New Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Physical Switch Release Spotted

Razzy

@Res462 ... So you're asking if they removed them, or removed them because reasons? My answer is yes.

The end result is that they were removed and thus you're getting a lesser product than the original in the music department, and, I guess say, music is a VERY important part of GTA.

Re: Switch 2 USB-C Chip Might Be Breaking Compatibility With Third-Party Docks

Razzy

I'm sure the fact that Nintendo is selling the Switch 2 dock separately for a high price has NOTHING to do with this oak or compatibility.

Reading some comments, it'd seem that the constant brainwashing is working and many people already are shocked and appalled that anyone would want to use the hardware they bought however they want, with whatever accessories they want, not 100% following the Word of God (Nintendo).

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Switch 2's Screen? Because Some People Certainly Aren't

Razzy

The panel's great, with its mediocre brightness, luscious grays and always-on full screen motion blur.

Yeah, it's a bit of a step back, it's cheapness fights against its features. HDR? No local dimming cripples it. 120 Hz refresh rate? The pixel response times can't really keep up, so it turns into a blurry mess. More accurate colour reproduction? Blacks are really grays.

But at least it gives me that warm and fuzzy nostalgia feeling, at if I eat playing PSP 2000 again.

Re: Nintendo Partners With Samsung To Produce Main Chips For Switch 2

Razzy

I wouldn't worry about the Switch getting a more power efficient version as soon as Switch 1. Switch 1 v2 had better battery life because the chipset it used, Tegra X1+ Mariko, was made at 15nm instead of the 20nm process of the base Tegra X1.

Switch 2 is already made with Samsung's 8nm litography, they'd need to go lower to get any serious power efficiency gains. Plus, the primary reason Nintendo introduced the Mariko-based Switch 1 v2 was because the revised chipset fixed the known and easy to use fusee-geele exploit of the original chip.

I reckon we'll have to wait at least 4 years for an oled model.
