Re: Guide: How To Fix A Drifting Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Analogue Stick

Razzy

Four of my five joycons developed drifting problems, one only a month after purchase. In some cases it was at severe that my character in Skyrim would run left at full tilt, stop when I moved it right, then instantly resume running left one i let go of the stick, multiple times in a row.

Blowing compressed air helped a bit, but temporarily, though for the newest one it helped for almost two months.

Ended up sending them in under warranty (2 year warranty here in the EU), they repaired one, said the other was fine, somehow, the launch ones are still in repair with the Switch.

"on the whole – it’s a solid, durable bit of kit"

The Switch is the only console I ever owned that I had to send back in for repairs during the first two years after purchase, and that includes several handhelds. It's anything but solid. And how in the hell did they manage to make to screen be pushed out in one corner by the digitizer cable? Phone manufacturers had this solved for years!

Re: Deals: This 256GB Micro SD Card Is Dirt Cheap And Perfect For Your Switch

Razzy

I picked one up. Not much of an upgrade capacity-wise over my 200 GB SanDisk, but my phone card died a while ago, so I'll move the SanDisk to my phone.

It's worth noting that this is a U3 card. Unlike many sites think, it's not the same as UHS III. UHS is the bus speed standard and the switch supports only UHS I, so buying anything beyond that is useless. But the U symbol is the card speed rating and it does indeed make a difference. Read speed differences aren't massive in normal use, but write speeds are, sometimes yielding three times shorter installation /saving times.

Re: Bethesda Might Have More Surprises For Nintendo Switch Owners In The Future

Razzy

Maybe they could surprise us and release a new patch for Skyrim that actually fixes the numerous game breaking bugs still left in the game. I had to restart my character 'cause an npc needed to progress one of the final missions in the Dragonborn dlc wouldn't do its fracking job! And that bug's been around since the dlc was first released!

Re: Video: $15 Bootleg Joy-Con For Your Nintendo Switch

If they're not horrible, then they failed at copying the originals. I mean, my 7 years old Vita, 12 years old psp, 5 years old 3dsxl and three years old 3ds xl never developed any analog drift, yet 4 out of 5 joycons I own have, despite enjoying several times the number of fans hours as the Switch.

Hard pass. I hated gyro controls for puzzles in BotW since it forced me to get up and flail my console around while I was playing in bed / lying on the couch, I'd hate them here too.

Looks like a cheap upressed reuse of 3ds games' assets, simplified to the point of absurdity (I mean, c'mon, the original games were for kids too, so that's not an excuse). Gonna wait for the main series title.

Plus it has that distinct mobile game feel to its looks.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 10th)

I'm doing what I've been doing for a week now, playing throw Metal Gear Sold: Peace Walker again, this time on my Vita, with a plugin to enable full dual analog controls and increase framerate from 20 to 30 FPS, feels like a new game. Currently doing post game stuff, completing Zeke modules and design specs.
