I don't see the mgs 3 remake coming, not nearly enough power.
@Moistnado Maybe because it's also a "home console" with the lightest and only split stock controllers available on the market, not to mention all the exclusives? Just a hint.
@BrazillianCara Officially, they do a lot to accommodate it. Culturally - it's still a great shame to the person and their family that needs to be hidden away, just like homelessness / poverty.
@UltimateOtaku91 How were they proven wrong? Early reviews are hardly a solid measure of where the game will end up at, Elden Ring had pretty much perfect reviews at the beginning too, then dropped lower as more reviews rolled in.
Though, I have my hopes up for the game once I get to play it, if they fixed the horribly barren world of the first one.
@Sisilly_G To be honest, yeah. Every S/H, while less advanced graphically, at least felt stable. In S/V i move the camera slightly out interact with something and sometimes shadows/speculars/shaders shift randomly, some shadows disappear, other pop up, it really takes me out of the game.
Yeah, I had tons of fun in Arceus. The exploration, being able to just run past a series of pokemon chucking pokeballs like a pro and just listening to the little fanfares as they were caught, the fact that you could go on even with no active pokemon, as long as your own health wasn't depleted, being able to complete the dex in one game, all the little tasks to complete to fully fill the pokedex, clothing customisation, the fact that the camera didn't clip into the terrain during battles, the fact that you were actually a character that was independent of your pokemon during battles, to a degree. I keep missing a lot of this stuff in S/V.
Maybe it gets better later, but for now I switched over to Metroid Prime.
@Chocobo_Shepherd People are complaining that the bugs are being addressed so slowly, that the performance wasn't addressed at all and that the game they paid money for is incomplete.
But I suppose I'm part of the hate mob if I'm not okay with how the game I spent my hard-earned cash on is incompetently made and performs poorly. I guess I should just force myself to enjoy it even if the game itself is making it very difficult.
I bought the game physically on a sale, wanting to check it out for myself how bad it is. It's baaaad, shockingly so after Arceus. The engine feels really unstable, with visuals shifting randomly, camera clipping issues, abysmal animation framerate even at very short distances and slowdowns. It's just pathetic. And they're still shilling paid DLC while taking months to fix anything, jeez.
PC (with the much superior version of Slave Zero with a great soundtrack): Am I a joke to you?
Just port the original, maybe work improved textures and models, it's still great after all those years. This new take seems to just be using the name.
What about fixing the crashing? Whatever Shield's faults are, it didn't crash each other day for me.
Oh, and hitboxes on various objects. Makes catching pokemon near them tak fun, when you throw a pojeball two metres to the side and it somehow still hits a rock.
@Astral-Grain That... I have never encountered in vcs, weird. I played through the entire game around 10 times, half of these 100%ing it, and never had it freeze like that, not even once.
I played it off the memory card, and the loading screen when crossing between islands was always exactly half a second.
At standard 222 MHz, the fps hovered between 20 and 30 fps, usually somewhere in the middle, with exactly one spot holding a steady 20 or slightly sub-20 (inside the second apartment, looking out the windows). At 333 MHz it would hold a pretty steady 30 fps.
I've never really encountered any bugs like those shown here, no being thrown across the map, no lightspeed npc cars, no random car attacks during cutscenes, almost no graphical glitches, no map layout problems, no falling through the ground, no disappearing map elements, no distorted models, etc. About the only replicable glitch it had was the car spawning breaking of you played it for real long without shutting the game off once, for several hours. The cars would stop spawning outside of roadblocks and those that were there had their pathing broken (constantly driving into walls, or on the underside of a bridge). Restarting the game of fix it.
Dunno why you had such a negative experience. Though, was your PSP the OG fat one? Maybe playing it off the umd in the cacheless OG model caused these problems. Or maybe your memory card was dying, dunno. Even on a ***** knockoff memory stick it'd run fine for me.
And, as a bonus, it always ran at native resolution.
As a side note, so reporting on DF videos when they're not praising the switch is clickbait now? Should they stop reporting on DF unless they only have good things to say about the Switch version? Since there were no cries of clickbait or bias when they were praising the switch numerous times.
Dunno, I already have a switch and with these I'd get d-pads, possibly a higher-res screen, better emulation, folders, multimedia playback, also during gaming, possibly a longer battery life and the ability to play tons of android ports. Seems pretty awesome to me. XD
@Quarth Yeah, it's just my opinion, if someone else likes it, more power to them. The number of people buying these games is much too large for any kind of boycott to work, so GameFreak will continue doing what brings them cash. I can only decide for myself, and after the rather significant case of buyer's remorse I've had after getting Shield, I'm staying clear of these.
Keep thinking of replaying Y, though.
It always just struck me as funny, to use sales numbers as a kid if 'gotcha' argument about the quality of the product. I mean, McDonald's has massive sales numbers, but I don't think anyone would call their food truly high quality.
I might get Arceus, though, if anything for them actually changing things.
Oh, hey, it's that thing! ... That I never saw in the wild since all the gaming stores around here collectively dropped it like a very hot and very rotten potato as soon as possible.
Nah, not getting these. Maybe one they're half off, but even then the cheap mobile cr@p art style would be hard to force myself to enjoy.
I'm not sure what people saying that it'll sell as a counter argument to those that think these are cr@p are trying to prove? Afterall, Assassin's Creed, Fifa, Call of Duty and many other popular games sell and it doesn't really prove their quality.
Well, that's not surprising. I don't think it's review bombing if the posters are right.
Actually, if the pc port has anything above 0.0, then it's being review-bombed upwards, since a game you bought and literally have no way of playing should be nothing above 0.0.
@Scapetti Yes, of course, the buildings popping-in in plain sight because they removed the distance fog are just fine. So is driving at full tilt, hitting empty air and crashing only for a car to spawn there after you've already hit empty air. Sounds just fine to me and not like shoddy coding at all.
Ah, so what do we pin the numerous spelling mistakes on? Spelling mistakes in new textures that were based on old ones that had blurry or hard to read parts exactly where the mistakes are? The new textures that look very much like upscales with newly generated text via text recognition? That give us such golden sights as 'meat' becoming 'heat', 'air' becoming 'ar', 'accessories' becoming 'aggessories'? Because if it's not due to upscaling errors then these new textures were made by people who either can't read or know exactly zero English.
Sorry, I've played the originals a lot and this entire thing comes off as supremely shoddy.
Though, let's be honest, maybe not 0.5-shoddy. I'd give it a 3.
Not the pc version, though, that's a straight 0 since you can't even play it.
@jkh0208 That's actually good news, though it also means that Rockstar is incompetent enough not to even know what's included in the game they're releasing.
As a side note, my phone autocorrected it to 'reheating' and I was tempted to leave it in. XD
@BloodNinja Haha, completely forgot how much of a flustercuck the final fight is. I ended up having to try it around 10 times on the Switch until I finally managed to find the arcane mystical sequence and copious amounts of luck to pass it without him getting locked in incorporeal mode. I had to actually kill my own companion dragon myself, then kill his companion dragon, then finally kill him, and very carefully to avoid hurting him too much, otherwise he'd lock up again. It was just a mess.
They haven't even fixed the bug in the thieves' guild questline - of you don't have whirlwind sprint and you go back through the final dungeon again after having previously finished it, you get stuck after the final drop since the door is locked (the last room is flooded) and you can't go back up. You can whirlwind sprint back off a Falmer hut, but if you don't have that shout... Whoops.
I would be really happy if they just updated the game by bundling the unofficial patches as an upgrade, I wouldn't even mind missing the other mods since I doubt the Switch could run then well.
@AstroTheGamosian There's also ton of graphical glitches unique to the Switch edition, like Dynamic shadows breaking in exactly half of a room (most often seen by me in alchemist shop in Whiterun and in the Dragonsreach main hall, lighting disappearing entirely at certain angles (Thieves' Guild training area), water distortion filters getting applied at a random height far above the water surface (various caves and dungeons), music cutting out and playing various glitchy noise, etc.
Also, another carryover, this time game breaking bug from the original game, when a certain village elder takes a certain book from you but doesn't do anything with it, just continuing to pray, actually preventing you from completing Drahonborn.
Yeah, I think trying to at all that new stuff to this version would just break it completely.
@tysonfury Actually, very much right. Music publishers want money and they never turn down a good offer. Either Rockstar didn't bother at all or wanted to pay only a pittance.
@Onett Weird, I must've missed the time when the courts withdrew their dismissal of the suits alleging he was a pedo due to the total lack of proof and these allegations became anything beyond hearsay. Bizarre that I'd have missed such a surely widely-publicises turnaround.
Well, it looks decent... Ish? I can live without advanced lighting effects, but the combination of good lighting and no shadows is throwing me off, as usual (looking at you flashlight in Resident Evil Revelations 2 on Switch!), and all this and no 60 fps? Kinda disappointing.
As for all the folks balking at people calling it a downgrade compared to previous releases... The ps2 games at least had shadow blobs simulating real shadows. San Andreas on PC, Xbox and all other releases had full shadows. What, the Switch can't compete with the OG Xbox?
I wish they either put some work into optimising it enough to get the shadows in, or left the original shadows and effects on. From what I've seen all versions of the remasters also remove the full screen filters the OG games used. They added a lot to the mood, like giving the appearance of shimmering heat in SA or beautiful sunsets in Vice City. Even the PSP Vice City spinoff had those.
Also, not keeping my hope up for the previously removed music tracks.
Didn't even entertain buying the OG NSO for more than a second or two, so not gonna be buying this either.
Back when I was testing various music streaming services, I was paying around $5 a month for Tidal alongside Spotify, but I stopped since Spotify has more of the music I wanted. I guess judging by many of the defenders in here I should have kept paying since its only $5 a month as much as a large cup of fancy coffee? I mean, low price justifies anything, low quality, wonky execution or even not needing the service.
@zombi3wolf I'm pretty sure it's much too late for that since Nintendo fanboys are the OG blind fanboys.
@Razzy I don't think the fact that problem affects few people makes it less serious for them.
It's not supposed to be? It clearly shows that, it's a comparative test of hardness. They do this for myriads of devices, why is it suddenly a problem because the Switch scored low?
Seeing how cheap people are listing retail-bought tampered glass protectors in the comments, it's really ridiculous that Nintendo couldn't splurge on a wholesale-bought one instead of a scratch-happy plastic film for their $350 premium device.
@johnvboy I suppose it depends on how you approach problems that don't affect you. I can walk just fine, but still find a wheelchair ramp that starts with a step a ridiculously bad design.
While you do have to put some effort do damage a screen of a device that doesn't sit flush with any surface you put it on due to physical controls (unless you detach the joycons, then it gets much easier), I still fine it hilarious that a $150 xiaomi phone can come with gorilla glass 5, but a $350 Switch OLED comes with regular, shatter-prone glass and a soft shatter-protection film.
@johnvboy Dunno, my OG Switch would sometimes get really hot midway across the back playing it in handheld mode, so I can see some lower quality sd cards getting damaged, especially if combined with a faulty fan, another issues some users reported.
Still, you mentioned that nobody here was denying that others might have had problems with the switch, but the person I mentioned clearly is denying that because they themselves have had no problems.
For example, my Switch never had any cracking issues. I don't presume no one else have had any such problems, though.
I did however have every single joycon I bought exhibit drift, often severe, often starting to drift again as soon as a month after repairs. At this point I often have to almost literally flood the analogs with wd40 contact cleaner to stave the drift off for a few weeks. That, and the rail connections are annoyingly loose, causing the 'connect the joycons' dialogue to pop up from time to time in SRIV, for example.
Of course still many people on the Internet and here tell me I'm imagining all this or using it wrong.
Whoah, sudden 'you're holding it wrong' flashbacks.
So, once again Nintendo can't to arsed to add even the level of screen protection that $150 phones (you can get phones with Gorilla Glass 5 for that much) have out of the box? Figures.
@johnvboy Let me just quote @CodyMKW from this very comment section: "seen people say their micro sd card melts I don't know what they are smoking cause never had that happen on mine most other issues people say about the Switch like the back of it cracking seem to be false cause none of that happens on mine"
Sure seems like denying the problem ever existing because it didn't happen to them to me.
@Stocksy Naah, or happens here all the time too. I like to call them the Nintendo Defence Corps. Or the Holy Army of the One Lord and Saviour, Lord High and Mighty, Deified Spirit Nintendo.
My near-launch Vita unfortunately has a darker spot visible with dark colours, and MVN described the Switch's OLED as being very similar to Vita's. My Galaxy S7 Edge, on the other hand, has three 'rot' spots, where the oleds started rotting, creating black expanding circles.
Yeah, oled's not exactly great when it comes to reliability.
Hmm, sounds good, might grab one around black Friday.
One thing worries me, though, the Ars Technical review mentions quite noticeable image retention problems after testing the battery by running the thing for hours. I would easily play my OG Switch for hours at a time, don't want the UI elements getting stuck on the screen. I wonder if anyone else will report this.
So, if we make our voices known, what will we get? Castlevania Pachinko? Castlevania Survive? Castlevania: Rogue Corps? Or maybe Castlevania: Downpour?
@jsty3105 Yes I do. Bluetooth started off used primarily on mobiles, hell, even nowadays it's not standard on PCs, but it is on laptops, mobile phones, etc. I consider it a primarily mobile technology. Even then Nintendo's main competitor in the handheld sphere implemented it long before them.
Not to mention on ps5 and xsx/s you can get official wireless headsets, did i miss Nintendo releasing one? For four years you had no official way to use any wireless headsets on Nintendo Switch, while both of the new competing consoles had official wireless headsets since the start.
Would it be better if they fully supported bluetooth? Sure, but you could use their official headsets or unofficial ones using the same protocols. That, and I don't really expect stationary computing devices to support bluetooth, since most don't.
Since the glacial release schedule and dubious quality of some nes and snes offerings on NSO were being explained by the Nintendo Defence Corps by 'they're just a free addition, you're so entitled, shut up and consume', what's going to be the explanation now that you're explicitly paying to upgrade to these new systems?
Wow, are we going to get the N64-era sh*tty analog stick that disintegrates after three months, or the Switch-era sh*tty analog stick that disintegrates after three months? The suspense is killing me!
@Haruki_NLI Others' complaints start to make a little more sense if you don't cherry pick only home consoles but handhelds too, seeing as the regular Switch is part handheld and the Light is exclusively a handheld.
Both the 2009's PSP Go and the later Vita had full Bluetooth support for headsets. Heck, the Vita could connect to computers, mobile phones, headsets, speakers, mice, keyboards and printers.
@JaxonH No cognitive dissonance here since 2009's PSP Go and the later Vita both supported bluetooth headsets out of the box. Handhelds are perfectly fair game for comparisons seeing as the regular Switch is part handheld and Switch Light is a full handheld, and neither supported Bluetooth headsets or if the box.
I suppose congratulations are in order now that Switch sort of caught up to a 2009 handheld.

Re: Random: Nintendo's Switch Online 'Expansion Pack' Trailer Is Now Its Most Disliked YouTube Video Ever
Yay, I helped!

Ah, a useless update for me, never got NSO before, not getting it now.
@Matroska Now that makes it all worth it, so many emulation glitches thrown in for free, Nintendo is really spoiling us!

Re: Switch OLED Model Rates 2 Out Of 10 On Screen Durability Scratch Test
@Razzy I don't think the fact that problem affects few people makes it less serious for them.
It's not supposed to be? It clearly shows that, it's a comparative test of hardness. They do this for myriads of devices, why is it suddenly a problem because the Switch scored low?
Seeing how cheap people are listing retail-bought tampered glass protectors in the comments, it's really ridiculous that Nintendo couldn't splurge on a wholesale-bought one instead of a scratch-happy plastic film for their $350 premium device.

Re: Switch OLED Model Rates 2 Out Of 10 On Screen Durability Scratch Test
@johnvboy I suppose it depends on how you approach problems that don't affect you. I can walk just fine, but still find a wheelchair ramp that starts with a step a ridiculously bad design.
While you do have to put some effort do damage a screen of a device that doesn't sit flush with any surface you put it on due to physical controls (unless you detach the joycons, then it gets much easier), I still fine it hilarious that a $150 xiaomi phone can come with gorilla glass 5, but a $350 Switch OLED comes with regular, shatter-prone glass and a soft shatter-protection film.

Re: Switch OLED Model Rates 2 Out Of 10 On Screen Durability Scratch Test

Re: Switch OLED Model Rates 2 Out Of 10 On Screen Durability Scratch Test
So, once again Nintendo can't to arsed to add even the level of screen protection that $150 phones (you can get phones with Gorilla Glass 5 for that much) have out of the box? Figures.
@johnvboy Let me just quote @CodyMKW from this very comment section:
"seen people say their micro sd card melts I don't know what they are smoking cause never had that happen on mine most other issues people say about the Switch like the back of it cracking seem to be false cause none of that happens on mine"

Re: Talking Point: Should We Be Worried About Screen Burn-In With Switch OLED?
My near-launch Vita unfortunately has a darker spot visible with dark colours, and MVN described the Switch's OLED as being very similar to Vita's. My Galaxy S7 Edge, on the other hand, has three 'rot' spots, where the oleds started rotting, creating black expanding circles.
Yeah, oled's not exactly great when it comes to reliability.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch OLED - The Screen's The Star
Hmm, sounds good, might grab one around black Friday.
One thing worries me, though, the Ars Technical review mentions quite noticeable image retention problems after testing the battery by running the thing for hours. I would easily play my OG Switch for hours at a time, don't want the UI elements getting stuck on the screen. I wonder if anyone else will report this.

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 13.0.0 Is Live, Adds Bluetooth Audio

Re: Soapbox: 4 Years On And Switch Finally Got Bluetooth Audio, So Voice Chat Next?
@Haruki_NLI Others' complaints start to make a little more sense if you don't cherry pick only home consoles but handhelds too, seeing as the regular Switch is part handheld and the Light is exclusively a handheld.
Both the 2009's PSP Go and the later Vita had full Bluetooth support for headsets. Heck, the Vita could connect to computers, mobile phones, headsets, speakers, mice, keyboards and printers.
So yeah.

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 13.0.0 Is Live, Adds Bluetooth Audio
@JaxonH No cognitive dissonance here since 2009's PSP Go and the later Vita both supported bluetooth headsets out of the box. Handhelds are perfectly fair game for comparisons seeing as the regular Switch is part handheld and Switch Light is a full handheld, and neither supported Bluetooth headsets or if the box.
I suppose congratulations are in order now that Switch sort of caught up to a 2009 handheld.
