Re: Review: Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)

Razzy

Ooooh, even more excited now. I preordered the limited edition. I have all the other Ys games on my Vita, but was waiting on this due to the Vita version missing stuff compared to the ps4 version.

While the Ys games may not have a high budgets as, for example, XC2 or BotW, they are really, really fun. And this one seems to further develop the battle system they switched to with Ys Seven and already developed further for Celceta. To be honest, in terms of how fun fighting is, Ys Seven and Celceta simply crush XC2 and BotW. Ys may be the only series where I simply love grinding.

And the music... That's usually another incredibly high point of any Ys game.

Can't wait to play this one.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Is A "Brand New Game", Not A Wii U Port

Razzy

@DrkBndr Actually, the developers themselves said that they had to design a new graphics engine for the game. Of course tiny parts of the code may have remained intact, but it was basically a new engine.

https://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2015/04/15/interview-inside-the-development-of-xenoblade-chronicles-3ds.aspx

There are many ports in the history of gaming that changed engines when going from platform to platform, though it used to be much more common in the past, when the performance differences simply made it impossible to run the original engine on the target platform. See console ports of Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake and Quake 2.

Not discussing if others are trolling or not, just pointing out that ports do indeed sometimes use different engines. Though, at some point it becomes a debate on whether it's a port or a remake (see some of the ports mentioned above).

Re: Conversations To Bring YouTube And Netflix To Switch Are "On-Going"

Razzy

Yeah, talks. Uh-huh.

I'd love these on my Switch. I'm much more likely to jump between playing and watching and vice versa if I don't have to switch between devices to do it.

@Banjos_Backpack Sorry, but these arguments make no sense to me. I do remember watching YouTube on my vita. What is happening now is that if I feel like watching something, I put down my switch down and get my phone. And then I keep watching because I can't be arsed to go back to the Switch. If I had the option to do both on Switch, I would be playing more as well. What the current state of affairs with the Switch makes me remember the most is frustration with missing features.

If you don't want it? Fine. But don't deem your choice best for everyone.

Re: Digital Foundry Takes Issue With Hyrule Warriors' Portable Performance On Switch

Razzy

That's a really weird decision. Why would they even do that? After some soul searching I was thinking of getting this, but now I'll wait to see if they patch it out.

A selection of modes would be best. I mean, even back on psp Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep let you choose the colour depth (16 vs 32bit) and the system clock (222 vs 333 MHz) so that you could get the quality, performance and battery life balance you wanted.

Re: Nintendo Announces Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go Eevee! For Nintendo Switch

Razzy

Mixed feelings on this one. Pokemon Yellow was my first ever pokemon game, but the lack of wild battles...

No wonder they can release it so fast, the level graphics are just 3ds pokemon games' graphics without the downsampling needed to fit the textures on the 3ds, while the pokemon models are from pokemon go.

... If the connectivity with pokemon go uses Bluetooth, I'm going to rage so hard about Nintendo not enabling Bluetooth headset support.

Re: Nintendo Bans Online Services For Prominent Hacker's Switch Console

Razzy

@Yorumi If they want to bend over and present themselves like a mandrill to our corporate overlords, I don't think you'll change their mind.

@10basetom And here I thought the console I bought was mine. Guess I was wrong!

@electrolite77 And that is relevant... Why exactly? They've had 8 software updates since 3.60, when the full hack was revealed, and tried desperately to block the hack and access to psn on lower firmwares, didn't work. And vita was a much more secure system than the switch.

Re: Nintendo Bans Online Services For Prominent Hacker's Switch Console

Razzy

Wow, such a toxic community here.

This'll be just another reason to hurry up and develop ways to bypass any security checks for the console and be able to use online services freely. Think that won't happen? Keep dreaming while I browse and buy games from psn with my thoroughly hacked Vita.

Though, to be honest, he's not missing much at the moment.

@Natzore Hahah, this'll be hilarious if it happens. Bonus points of they also have to reimburse him for the time he has no access to the stuff he bought.

Re: Random: Meet 'Super Mali', The Mario Toy You Always (Never) Wanted

Razzy

That's not really anything new in the toy / merchandise world. The so-called 'third party' products have been a staple of the Transformers fandom for years now and have been bleeding over to other fandoms too. A few years ago a company released a massive Krang from TNMT, better than any official release.

Pretty much all these companies operate out of China, so good luck with that copyright infringement suit, you'll need a miracle to win it.

Most of the time, these third party products are of very high quality and this looks as such, hence the sometimes very high prices. Heck, some of the larger Transformers third party releases can cost upwards of $500, like combiners or Omega Supreme.

I kinda want it, but I'll wait fur the price to drop.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Razzy

After cleansing my palate a bit with other games, back to BotW to get the rest of the korok seeds, then the rest of the side quests. Also, finally got Ultra Sun, so that too. And World of Tanks and Half Life 2 with smod redux on pc, plus possibly another playthrough of GTA Vice City Stories on my Vita, this time with a patch that adds full right analog support.

Re: Nintendo Switch Only Accounted For 7% Of Ubisoft's Yearly Revenue

Razzy

Going by the number of games, not bad.

Now, Nintendo, grease some palms and get AC on the Switch. Sony was able to get exclusive AC games for psp and vita (though the latter one later got ported, it was still exclusive for quite a while), I'm sure you could convince Ubisoft to get you some ports without too much hassle.
