We all know they are NOT working on a Metroid title, 3D or Sidescolling. Other than Federation Force, there are no Metroid titles being worked on . . . and that is very very very sad.
I hope that it's an original IP. Not a sequel to anything, or a reboot of anything. I also bet it's going to be a launch title for NX.
I will never support any Comcept again. It's not the delay, it's the dumb (I believe untruthful) reason, the lies, the lack of transparency, and and complete amateur way Inafune and company have handled the situation. I refused to back Red Ash due to the shabby way Comcept was approaching it, and how Mighty No 9 wasn't even out yet! The lack of any Nintendo support also kept me away.
Again, I am not just mad because the game was delayed. Armikrog has been delayed twice. However, Mike, Ed, and everyone have been completely transparent about everything. They have been open, honest, and have kept all of the backers 100% informed. The reasons for the delays have been to adding more content and changing designs to puzzles that weren't working out that well. They also wouldn't have delayed it if the backers were negative about it. However, we have been positive and supportive. I have only heard 1 person complain, while everyone else has been overwhelmingly positive. Oh, plus they are finishing their game before trying to start a new one.
Comcept deserves no sympathy, trust, or support. Mighty No 9 might as well be an EA title.
I have really been wanting to get my hands on New N Tasty. The only experience I've had with Stranger's wrath is on my iPad, and that was short because I hated the controls. I'd definitely give it a try if they do bring it to the Wii U.
It's not the lack of Samus that I have a problem with, it's the lack of EVERYTHING that makes Metroid, well, Metroid. The puzzels, the isolation, the tension, the seriousness. This has none of them.
To anyone who has doubts about this game, put them aside. This game is absolutely amazing! It uses real folklore, and amazing visuals to pull off something that is almost revolutionary. It is also very creepy! Do not play it late at night with all the lights out if you don't want to have nightmares.
My biggest concern is the second story, and if they don't find a way to include it, so much will be wasted. There was a huge second story that tied many questions from the original together. It was unlocked in the free mysterious companion app on the App Store. Once you unlock that, and go through that, the game becomes even more fascinating, and you need to play it again (not all the way) to see the "true" ending.
Please DO NOT call it Wii NX, Wii 3, Wii U2, 3Wii, Wacky Wii, Wii The Next Generation, Wii Plus, Wii N, Wii NES, Wii SNES, Wii 64, Wii Cube, Wii Thingy, Wii Willy WiiWii Wicky Wii Wommbally Wii of WiiWiiWii, or ANYTHING containing the word Wii!
Come up with an original name that shows people it's a new console, and not an add-on. So many people thought the Wii U was a gamepad add-on for the Wii.
@Damo We should go see a match of Brockian Ultra Cricket together! I hear there is a match on Magrathea. Shall I book a cabin on the Starship Titanic? It should be crashing into my house any day now.
@RyanCraddock Yes, I am aware of what Double Tracking is, lol. The way you did it sounded like there was much more to it. That just makes me more impressed.
Also, you've inspired me to write a song about my main man, Luigi. Now where's that guitar . . .
@RyanCraddock From one singer/songwriter to another, bravo. Funny, yet surprisingly touching. Seriously, that was great. I have yet to see any of your other stuff, but if they are anywhere near this quality, I suspect I will enjoy them as well.
I do have one question. What was the effect you used on your voice? Is it the TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT?
@dumedum That was 1993 tech. A lot has changed. Also, VR hasn't had a chance to take off. Occulus Rift and everything are still being worked on. They aren't in their complete final stages yet. Once they are finished, released to the masses (at a competetive price), with the right games, VR could skyrocket!
In fact, I wish I could get my hands on an Occulus Rift headset for when Cyan's (Creators of MYST and RIVEN) new game OBDUCTION comes out. Man that would be something.
VR is A LOT of fun! Also, it can easily be social. You get two head sets, and it's all of a sudden social. You can have two people exploring and playing in a world, and they can either be in the same room, or in a different country.
Also, a lot of what Nintendo does is not social. When has core Legend Of Zelda games been social? When has Metroid games (REAL Metroid games) been social? You don't have to make it social to make it fun.
@gamermole you have two screens over each eye, taking up your complete peripheral vision. Yes, you won't get the depth perception from it since you only will see one screen (just like with 3D stuff). However, when you move your head, the view moves too. It's just like you were actually looking at a real world. You have full view of everything around you, like in real life. Also the audio in the headsets move too. You won't get the full effect, but you will still feel immersed like never before.
@Ralizah There is a narative, but it's minor enough that you don't have to play them in order. You may miss out on a few jokes, a few cameos, and a few small recurring villians that say "ok, this time we got him!" but you won't feel lost.
Not too sure about this. I may pass because I have begun to get bored with the Mario & Luigi games after Dream Team, and the last 2 Paper Mario games were not the best. I really wanted a Mario RPG with more people on my team other than Mario & Luigi (and Mario). That's one of the things I LOVED about Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. That added so much more variety, and so much more to the story(ies).
The Mario & Luigi games are running on fumes now, imo. Adding Paper Mario doesn't help much.
Um . . . that makes no sense. The only reason why you wouldn't show it is to upstage something big, and there was NOTHING big to upstage at this E3. In fact, it might have saved them from the utter failure that was E3.
That means there is nothing. They have pretty much done nothing with Metroid since Other: M, except for cancelling the game that one studio proposed, and MP:FF
This is extremely sad news. The only worse news would be that they were cancelling the franchise entirely.
Nintendo took some fresh vegetables, dipped them into beef broth, and threw them in a cage with hungry wolves. The wolves took one bite of them, and spit them out in disgust and anger. The wolves don't eat vegetables, and it has just made them angry because they haven't gotten the meat they desire and need. Nintendo should have taken the vegetables and given them to herbivores who would eat them and enjoy them, without the beef broth. They should have given the wolves a very good side of beef. Even giving them just some chunks would have helped, but not vegetables dipped in beef broth. It only makes them angry, hungry, and nasty.
You know, you can have a Metroid game without Samus. You'd have to create a brand new chracter, or take an existing character and actually flesh out some backstory. However, like I said, Metroid is about the tense atmosphere, the white knuckles, the dread, the isolated feeling in very harsh, wild, alien worlds, full of things that want to kill you on site. As long as they would nail down the gameplay and environment, the new character could use his/her own abilities to traverse the realms, making us think outside of how Samus would solve things. It could be a marine that got seperated and crashed into some space station or planet, and take it from there.
However, this game is NOT Metroid. It lacks pretty much everything that makes a Metroid game a Metroid game. It could have used any other setting. In fact, it should have. It should have used a more lighthearted off world gladiator type setting. It's deserves it's own IP. But now they have shoehorned it into the Metroid universe, and that is never a good thing.
@TreesenHauser It's not Samus that makes it a Metroid game. It's the intensity, the hardcore feeling, the white knuckles, the corridors, the isolation, the exploration, the one person against all these insane odds, and the unique alien and dreadful feeling. This has none of that.
This just annoys me even more. He has an idea for a Metroid game. He wants to make a Metroid game. So why don't we have it? The fans want it, the developers have ideas, so to just give us Federation Force is even more of a slap in the face.
Again, Federation Force may be a good game, but it's NOT Metroid! It doesn't look like Metroid, sound like Metroid, or anything. The settings are there, but the feeling is not. Metroid is creepy, hardcore, intense. Your knuckles get white, your heart races, you're running around the corridor hoping an enemy isn't there so you can catch you breath, but then it is there and the feeling of dread sets in. This . . . this is nothing. This is NOT Metroid!
The more I hear, the more annoyed I am at Nintendo and how they are treating Metroid. It's becoming more like Capcom and Megaman.
I wouldn't go as far as the guy in the video, but this year was disapointing.
No Online Multipler Star Fox No Paper Mario for Wii U No 3D Mario for Wii U Nothing about F-Zero . . . NOTHING
and worst of all . . . NO METROID! No, that 3DS game doesn't count. It'll probably be a good game, but it's not Metroid!
Fans want a new Metroid game! We have been clammouring for it for years! Yet, we have nothing. That game with the Metroid attached to it felt like a joke. Like next they were going to reveal the TRUE Metroid game and say, "ha ha, fooled you, actually here's the awesome game you want," yet . . . nothing. Big disappointment this year. They better hit a grand slam next year to make up for this year.

This game seems to have too many problems for me to overlook. I was already not interested, and this review has solidified that.
Re: Mario Memories: Super Mario RPG Opens Up The World (and a Boss's Big Mouth)
I still to this day want a sequel to this game. It was so amazing, and I'm sorry but Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series are not the same.
I hope I don't keep waiting for SMRPG2 for the rest of my life.

This game is Metroid in name only.
Re: Grim Tales and Horrifying Creatures Await in Year Walk for Wii U
@Mene I bet you didn't find the second story. It lengthens the game/experience and makes it even better. Clue: study the companion app more closely.
Re: Grim Tales and Horrifying Creatures Await in Year Walk for Wii U
@Rect_Pola it tramples all over the brilliant/weird line. That is what Simogo does best (Device 6, Sailor's Dream, Year Walk, etc.).

Re: Talking Point: Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Entitled Fury
Here's a good analogy of what is happening:
Nintendo took some fresh vegetables, dipped them into beef broth, and threw them in a cage with hungry wolves. The wolves took one bite of them, and spit them out in disgust and anger. The wolves don't eat vegetables, and it has just made them angry because they haven't gotten the meat they desire and need. Mainly another Paper Mario in the style of TYD, and for the Wii U. Sigh, I am going to hold off on buying this unless it gets great reviews.
Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Is The Metroid Game You Didn't Expect, Or Perhaps Want
The game looks decent, but this is not Metroid! In fact it looks like a completely different game, and they threw it into the Metroid universe.
This would have worked better if it was it's own game, and not branded as a Metroid game.
Where's our Metroid game, Nintendo? You know the fans want it! We have been wanting it! We have been clamouring for it! WHERE IS IT!?!?!?
