Re: Poll: So, Did You Manage To Get A Switch 2 Pre-Order In? (North America)

RantingThespian

It took me 2 hours of non stop chaos. Best Buy refreshed my page after an hour, and Target kept crashing. Walmart had me waiting in line the whole time, and nothing ever happened. I luckily went back to Target eventually, only to find them back in stock for a few minutes, and I got lucky and snagged one.

It was a terrible pre-ordering experience, but I thankfully lucked out at the last minute!

Re: Random: Witness The Star Trek DS9 Intro In Glorious 64-Bit, Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Style

RantingThespian

DS9 has always been my 2nd favorite Star Trek show (right behind TNG, obviously). I never understood the hate, nor did I even know about it until the early 2000s and finally getting easy access to the internet. I loved it, and think it had the best ensemble of all the Trek shows ... until Jadzia was replaced by Ezri in the last season.

Now, DS9 has (hands down) the BEST Star Trek intro. From the asteroid at the beginning to the worm hole at the end, just beautiful. The music was also perfect. So, this N64 intro just makes me wish there was a game to go with it. Wow!

However, the biggest crime is that there never was a DS9 movie. The closest we ever got was the Defiant in First Contact (it's not a little ship!), and the cut scene with Quark in Insurrection.

Re: Review: Doctor Who: The Edge Of Reality - A Fair Adventure With Serious Performance Issues

RantingThespian

@Gamer_Zeus The fault was never Jodie. She's a great actress who is trying, but you can't make gold out of a turd. There have been moments were she's been great... but then the writing throws anything good straight into the bin.

I was actually a fan of Jodie's casting, but I quit watching after 2020. I tried, but after 2 series, I couldn't stand the show anymore. It's been in a death spiral ever since Chibnall took over as showrunner/head writer. Thankfully, he is going to leave after just 3 specials and Russel T. Davies (the man who brought Doctor Who back in 2005, and the one who cast both Eccleston and Tennant) is back in the driver seat as showrunner/head writer. If anyone can save Doctor Who, it's him! So, there is hope that Doctor Who will be good once more.

Re: Review: Doctor Who: The Edge Of Reality - A Fair Adventure With Serious Performance Issues

RantingThespian

Still don't know why Doctor Who has never done a Point-and-click Graphical Adventure Game. That's a perfect fit for an IP like Doctor Who. Tell Tale would have nailed it back in their heyday. Think Sam & Max or Monkey Island but with a Doctor Who spin.

Well, anyways, just wake me up when the regeneration sequence happens, and Russel T. Davies returns. If anyone can save Doctor Who, it's him!

Re: Ed Sheeran's Pokémon GO Collab Includes In-Game Concert And Special Pokémon Appearances

RantingThespian

@PC2 I would be interested in that, mainly because Adele is extremely talented, has an insanely good voice.

In all honesty, as a fellow musician and songwriter, Ed Sheeran does not impress me at all by a creative or technical standpoint. I'd also like to say I can recognize talent and have respect for musicians while not enjoying their music (like RHCP, Aerosmith, and John Mayer). However from my very first impression years ago to this day, Ed Sheeran has left me always feeling underwhelmed, unimpressed, and quite honestly just fake. I don't consider him that talented or creative, and I feel his music could be easily written by an algorithm.

Adele, now that is another story. While not loving every song she's written or recorded, I was impressed when I first heard 19, and I am still impressed to this day.

Re: Just Dance 2022 Launches On Switch Today, Here's The Full Song List

RantingThespian

@Ryu_Niiyama While I was joking with that list (I did intentionally list DMB 5 times . . . not because I hate DMB, but because I love DMB), but you can DEFINITELY dance to all that music. I've been to many concerts from those performers, and trust me, no one is sitting down. 98% of the crowd is dancing for almost 2-3 hours. Man, I miss live concerts.

However, I do think many Soul Coughing tunes could work in a Just Dance style game. It would be weird (it is Soul Coughing and that's just their nature) but they have enough songs with danceable grooves that it would work. Super Bon Bon, Circles, Casiotone Nation, Mr. Bitterness, Is Chicago Is Not Chicago, Monster Man, and $300 all would work.

Re: Just Dance 2022 Launches On Switch Today, Here's The Full Song List

RantingThespian

@Ryu_Niiyama Hell yeah! A Just Dance with Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews Band, Soul Coughing, Blues Traveler, Nirvana, Crash Test Dummies, Ben Harper, Ben Folds Five, R.E.M., Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, NIN, The Wallflowers, Dave Matthews Band, Goo Goo Dolls, Gov't Mule, Garbage, Blind Melon, Counting Crows, Dave Matthews Band, Barenaked Ladies, The Black Crowes, Soul Asylum, Dave Matthews Band, Matchbox 20, Alanis Morsette, and Dave Matthews Band.

Re: Random: Nintendo's Switch Online 'Expansion Pack' Trailer Is Now Its Most Disliked YouTube Video Ever

RantingThespian

My biggest quarrel is that they still have not improved the original NSO to an acceptable service. If they improved the service and then asked for $50, then maybe. However, the service remains FAR BELOW anything subpar, and all that is being added are some questionably emulated N64 and Genesis games and a DLC that I and many will never use. NSO is still bad and it's only excuse was that it was so cheap. Now it no longer has that excuse.

Also, I'm tired of Nintendo drip feeding legacy content.

Re: Random: Forget Dread, It's All About Metroid: Other M On Twitter Right Now

RantingThespian

I'll chime in with my 2 cents. Other M is not a great game, but it's not a bad one either. There are some questionable decisions (mainly do to story and some character portrayals), but there are also some standouts moments, stand out game design, and can be just really fun. There were times when I had a LOT of fun in the game. I do like how it tries to flesh out Samus's backstory (and some of it really works!), but there were several in game moments that go against much of what made Samus, well, Samus. I also think some of the voice actors were not up to snuff. It's definitely flawed, but not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. It is easily the 2nd worst Metroid game imo (Federation Force being the lowest)... but I don't think there is any actual bad Metroid games. There are great ones, good ones, and ok ones.

... oh, and Metroid Prime: Pinball does not get the respect it deserves!

Re: "Dreams Come True": Chris Pratt Talks About His New Role As Super Mario

RantingThespian

I can't believe all the HATE in this comment section over just simple announcement of the voice casting. First of all, Chris Pratt is NOT going to sound like normal Chris Pratt, nor will he sound like his LEGO Movie character (which he was wonderful in!). He's going to be doing an original voice, like everyone else in the cast. Anyone who thought Charles Martinet was going to voice Mario, Luigi, etc. were fooling themselves. Charles is great at doing single lines and quick sound bites for games. Voice acting a whole movie is different, VERY different. Not only that, but there needs to be good chemistry between the fellow voice actors. Also, we knew we were getting big time Hollywood actors voicing these roles. I would have loved more seasoned professional voice actors (like Billy West), but for something this big, we knew we were getting Hollywood actors. That's just how the Hollywood system works. Big Movie + Big Actor/Actress = More Attention = Possible More Money.

Also, all the HATE being thrown at Chris Pratt is disgusting. Most of this comes from rumors and baseless accusations. Chris never endorsed Trump (twitter rumor), and he has said his local church has never discriminated against LGBTQ+ (it turns out a church associated to the one he goes to does, but not the one he personally attends). He has also never expressed or said anything anti-LGBTQ+, nor has he been known to support any groups that are openly anti-LGBTQ+. It only takes a short search on the internet to find this out.

I for one am excited, and can't wait to see the first trailer. I also think Jack Black is going to KILL IT as Bowser.

People really need to calm down.

Re: "Dreams Come True": Chris Pratt Talks About His New Role As Super Mario

RantingThespian

@ramu-chan Um, Chris Pratt is not right wing (in fact he refuses to align to any specific political party), and he never said he was pro Trump. There was a rumor that he said he was, but it was a rumor that proved to be 100% false. All that was said is that he turned down an invitation to an online Biden fundraiser with his fellow Avengers cast members, and that led to a snowball twitter rumor that claimed he was a Trump supporter. He actually didn't publicly endorse anyone in 2020. It is known that Chris Pratt supported and donated to Obama's campaigns, which makes it highly doubtful that he is a Trump supporter.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch OLED Model

RantingThespian

I play in docked mode 90% of the time, so this really doesn't appeal to me.

If this was my first switch, of course I'd get this model. However it is not worth upgrading for for me.

I see this as the equivalent to the 3DS XL, and not the New 3DS (with the Switch Light being the equivalent to the 2DS).

Re: Poll: Mario Golf: Super Rush Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

RantingThespian

I pre-ordered it, and got it on Friday. Now, I never had a Game Cube, and never played the 3DS title. However, I adored the N64 classic, and consider it one of my favorite N64 games (along with GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, OOT, SM64 Wave Race, and all 3 Mario Party games).

I currently love this new one, and only have 2 complaints: the music being a bit bombastic, and not being able to pan the camera and zoom in farther. If they would fix the camera ... and use the music from the N64 game ... this would be a 10/10 title for me.

Currently it's an 8/10 (and the updates may make it a 9/10, but I'll wait and see).
